    • I saw what looked like wear on the pulley which concerned me
I received two defective units from this seller and returned them both. One (and possibly two) were due to failure to protect hardware from shipping environments. The first alternator I received arrived with a dented pulley. It had been shipped in its commercial box in another slightly larger box with no shock absorbing material between the air gap — no peanuts, no crumpled paper, no plastic bubble wrap. An impact mark was visible through both boxes and upon opening, it could be seen that the pulley was dented into the volume in which the belt would travel. It would shred a belt if installed. I returned the alternator and received a second alternator. This alternator arrived in identical packaging and appeared to have tumbled in its commercial box. I saw what looked like wear on the pulley which concerned me. Was it refurbished? Was it damaged in shipment? I installed this new alternator and worked well for about five days, when my battery light came on again. I spent an afternoon going through all the tests (e.g., inspecting belt function and tension, measuring car voltage with and without loads as evidence of alternator function, performing alternator cable continuity tests, performing a direct alternator voltage measurement). The alternator was truly generating no voltage. I've returned this one for a refund. The one star is for failing to protect expensive automotive equipment from shipping environments. The result is that a quick one-hour replacement has been turned into several weeks of car sharing, jacking up and down an auto, debugging hardware, and resetting power windows and stereos. It may have shortened the life of my brand-new battery as well. ... show more
