  • Quick, Easy, Painless
As a Apple user, a flaw of HomeKit seems to be that the adoption from accessory manufacturers seems to work against it. Going into a store and seeing so many smart accessories for Google or Alexa is a huge draw in. However, at their core, smart accessories aren't where they need to be. Enter Matter and TP-Link. While I'm aware of other things like Matter, HomeKit seems to only be friendly with Matter right now. On that note, typically installing accessories was simple but for whatever reason...the more basic the accessory, the more pain it became to install. I previously tried Eve and Meross smart plugs and installing both was a huge pain in my ass! Constantly failing or having errors in setup. I decided to give it one more try with a brand I've used before (granted, I didn't know TP-Link had their options!) Right out the gate, all I did was scan the code, plug in the plugs where I needed them and setup took about 10 seconds (yes, I timed it after dealing with the others!) worked as hoped. Performs well! simple, easy, painless! Keeping my eye on TP-Link for more Matter products. ... show more

  • TAPO Support is 5 stars
The company I work for bought 90 of these devices to be able to power-cycle some equipment that occasionally needs to be reset which has been installed in spaces with very limited accessibility. Part way though adding these devices to the iPhone app that controls them the app began acting strangely: online devices shown as offline, changeable fields becoming locked, devices vanishing from the available list, etc. TAPO support were superb. They speedily identified the source of the problem and provided the solution (one device needed a firmware update). The devices themselves seem well build, reliable, and are working exactly as we’d hoped. Definitely recommended.” ... show more

  • Works very well with Alexa, and the Tapo mobile app.
These are easy to setup and reliable units, which I use mostly for lamps, and mostly controlled by Alexa Dots. Theoretically they work with that Apple Home stuff too, but after many hours, I never was able to get that Apple system to work. I will never even try again! Sorry Apple! My only gripe with this sort of thing, and Alexa, if you lose Internet access, you have no control at all as far as I can tell. I would love a way around this. I detest IOT! ... show more

  • Cycle the power button when trying to discover in HomeKit
These are a bit better Matter plugs compared to the Meross and Eve plugs I have. They can still be a bit of a challenge to re-connect if they drop offline, but I discovered cycling the power button when trying to connect does help re-establish a connection. Matter plugs, in general, just seem a bit finicky right now... ... show more

  • Easy to use until a power failure
Setup was easy and they worked well with a HomePod Mini. Unfortunately, after we lost power, they stopped working. They had to be removed from the Home app, reinstalled and then worked fine. I would still give them 4 stars.

  • Unreliable will not stay connected
I installed 6 of these into a robust system with 55 zwave, zigbee, and Wi-Fi devices. Commissioned them as Matter devices as instructed . Every few days one drops out and has to be reset. Some are no more than 10 feet from the router and signal strength is high. They are not workable devices. Waste of money and I am replacing with zwave, which have been working without issue for years. I wanted to try Matter but cannot understand what purpose it serves, other than marketing devices. Zwave is far better, more robust, local network and can be bridged to Apple Homekit, Alexa, or Google so why would I ever need Matter devices. ... show more

  • Simple to set up and use
I purchased these to automate, my living room and bedroom lighting to come on at dusk and shut off when i go to bed. I also set one to control my floor fan that i use in my bedroom as both a cooling and white noise creator that it comes on right before bed and shuts off at 6 am. I originally purchased a 3 pack, but soon as i realize how well they work came back and got more to run other items remotely. They also come in handy for those that are alway thinking they didn’t turn the iron or the curling iron off. You can just pull it up on the app from anywhere and confirm the powers off to the appliance. ... show more

  • The First Quality Matter Smart Plugs.
The Tapo Matter Smart Plugs are great. They keep a good connection compared to another plus. The size allows 2 to be used in a standard dual electrical outlet.
