So the most important thing about this wifi extender (and most of them i suppose) that i didnt know prior to purchasing is that it doesnt have wifi roaming. So i assumed this would extend the wifi and continue to use the same wifi network name. It doesnt. You have to use a diff wifi network name with this extender and then connect any devices in the vicinity using the other wifi network name. At first i thought this was a dealbreaker, because my celphone and ipads are being used all over the house and who wants to continually have to change network names depending on where you are in the house? Well, i decided that what i would do is connect all the wifi devices that are static up to this extender-- the wifi lights, the streaming boxes, the thermostat, the cameras, etc-- and those would have steady and strong wifi all the time- and then only switch mobile devices to the extende occasionally. This is working out well and i love that the wifi extender finds my router and home wifi very easily with a strong connection. Its not perfect but it is definitely bringing better speeds upstairs than the speeds we were getting without it. This is the second T-C LINK Extender I purchased. Both units work great and extends my system as needed for some security cameras outside my home, yard and out buildings. I set both units up as an Access Points - as in 100 foot ethernet cable with the TP Link Extender broadcasting from there. This required some specific steps on the setup, but the Tech Help was great. (I'm no network pro - I actually hate messing with network settings.) Jobert was great about stepping me through the process. I had live tech help chat on my laptop - and used my phone to link to the unit for setup and settings page. NOTE: One thing that to be aware of is that when I paired my phone to the TP Link unit (like you would to a set of blue-tooth headphones) my phone kept reverting back and connecting to my main network that I have been using . I had to keep re-setting the phone pairing to the TP unit. Have to maintain this linking to access the online settings page for the TP unit. Once I kept a close eye on the phone linking, the process went smooth. Tech help was very knowledgeable on the setup and easily stepped me through the settings. Here is what I told Jobert. "It is so great to converse with someone who actually knows the product well enough to provide something besides just generic canned answers. Jobert - great work on your part! Great service like you provided is exactly why I purchased a second TP Link unit." ... show more

Product worked fine but failed in first 6 months. Getting TP-Link to honor their warranty is a nightmare. They make the process as hard as possible - the website you interact with is terrible. When I finally got the RMA (after many email exchanges with "did you try this?" "Send us a picture with it plugged in." "Oh, you need to update your registration" - I finally got an RMA - sent it in (had to pay for shipping and tracking of package). They have had the package per UPSPS tracking for 2 weeks but have no record. I have sent the proof from USPS and nothing. Absolutely TERRIBLE company. ... show more

Great addon. We switched to a TP Link router last Fall and found out this spring it couldn't reach our patio if the door was closed. Mounted the extender to the outlet nearest the door and we went from intermittent 1 bar of Wifi 5 and now it's Wifi 6 with full bars.

The setup was fairly straightforward, and the build quality is good. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the stronger Wi-Fi signal I was hoping for. I tried different locations, but it didn’t noticeably improve the coverage in the areas where I needed it most.
