  • Wind meter
Very inexpensive but well worth it. I always thought the wind was too strong to fly my mini drone but it’s only 5 mph so now I can fly more.

  • Small anemometer with a few quirks
I like this little anemometer, but there are some things you should know. First it is very small - like almost palm of your hand small. That's not a bad thing, just an observation. I was surprised how small it was. Small can be good depending on your use case. It is quite sensitive, which also likely means quite delicate. It comes with a yellow rubber case. That will keep it from getting scratched, but the fan blades are not covered by this. If you just toss it into a tool box and something like a screwdriver stabs a fan blade then this would likely be ruined. It (annoyingly) uses CR2032 watch batteries instead of triple As. I have these on hand for heart rate monitor chest straps, but not everyone will. There is no off button. It just times out after you let it sit. I'm not a fan of that. That's going to run down your CR2032. It's a nice tool to have available, but the issues above need to be addressed to make it great. ... show more

  • I Was Right
We had a discussion regarding which fans were the most effective. I don't consider feeling sensations as scientific and we were in disagreement regarding which ones blew the hardest, despite what was written in the fan's description. So, I decided to order this to put our disagreement to rest. First, definitely have to deduct a star for delivery. I ordered it on December 9th, but it didn't arrive until February 3rd. That's nearly two months! I should deduct two stars, but I want to be fair. I also have to deduct a star for the battery. This day in age, I would expect something like this to come with a built-in rechargeable battery. Unfortunately, it requires not just a battery, but a coin battery at that (CR2032), instead of a more common one like AAA. Fortunately, it came with two, but it also came with a screwdriver to remove the cover. Another item that'll likely get lost before it's used again. So definitely deducting for the inconvenient battery. Now, to the tests. Well, I was right. the smaller pedestal fan was better than the box fan. Not to mention, we were able to compare the ceiling fans too. I'm definitely going to use this more often for other reviews as well as to get a more accurate reading regarding wind speeds for cooking outdoors in variable conditions, target practice, golfing, and fishing. I'll also likely use it to better determine rather or not to take out my drone since I live in a valley and the local weather station reports don't always accurately apply to us. Along with anything else I can't think of offhand. It's pretty easy to use and you can change the measurement units. It's not too large neither coming in at about 4.4" x 1.9" and only weighing about 2.5oz including the protective covering and lanyard. However, the backlight doesn't stay on for 10 seconds as mentioned in the instructions, but rather 8. In all, I'm going to have to give this an average rating. It works as I'd expect but could be better. Especially the shipping speed. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Useful and Accurate Anemometer
This Digital Anemometer has been a useful tool for my bench rest long range shooting. I compared it to a couple of Anemometers from my shooting buddies and this unit was quite accurate. I also use this for surf fishing when strong winds are blowing off the water helping me to estimate necessary casting weight. Finally, I started using this device when playing outdoor pickleball. ... show more

  • Let the Wind Blow
Digital Anemometer, Handheld...: The Thermometer reads within 1*F of other thermometers I consult. Oh, how I wish I'd had this anemometer when the winds were blowing so hard recently. Forecasters say more wind is on the way, so maybe I'll get some readings in the next few days. Weather stations are one of my hobbies simply because weather is a factor in my daily life. Do my joints hurt because the barometer is changing? Barometers and Thermometers are key indicators and I -can- estimate wind speeds visually which requires remembering what the charts say. No need to remember with this tool. The speed of the wind at my location can be read in 5 measurement units. Wind chill can be determined as long as the outside temperature is below freezing. (Untested). Wind chill won't be calculated if you are soaking wet and in a gale at 52*F and hypothermia gets to you. *-The tool needs a 'hold' button!-* I held the anemometer out the window of our moving car. At 35mph on our city street, the car and the anemometer registered very close. The anemometer did not register above 50mph when held out the car window at 65mph though. I also used the blower end of a small vacuum to test the anemometer function. ... show more

  • Compact wind reading for drone fliers.
Nice little field anemometer for drone fliers. It's roughly pocket sized so quite portable and since it provides Beaufort scale ratings, you can easily identify when winds are too strong to fly. Of course, wind is likely worse at altitude but you can at least have some reasonable measurement.

  • Cheap, Accurate
This is a small wind speed tester. This is nearly all cheap plastic, and the build quality feels cheap; it feels like a toy. This is accurate, however. Considering the build quality, this is more of a novelty item due infrequent use. This is very light and compact. It is easy to use, read, etc. This functions well, but you are getting what you pay for. ... show more
