It took a bit of time to learn how the rotating mechanic worked, but now I can say that overall it works much better than my laptop's built-in PCIe Wi-fi adapter. It fits nicely when my laptop is flexed, and has a solid connection. The speeds are around less than half what I usually get on a 5 GHz connection (~125 mbps, down from 400 mbps) probably because I haven't plugged it into a faster USB port. What was important to me was that I had a stronger connection than before, and this delivers on that. I went from 2-3 bars with my laptop's built-in Wi-fi adapter to a full 4 bars (5 bars in the Task manager). At first it made my laptop a bit buggy when plugging it in. Bluetooth connections would stop and I'd have to wait a minute for things to reconnect. After few times, it stopped doing that and all was smooth. You may have to find and download the drivers (the stuff on the included disc) from the TP-Link website for this model if you don't have a disc reader. Since my laptop doesn't have a disc drive, I had to borrow a friend's external one. If the adapter doesn't seem to work, you probably have to disable your built-in Wi-fi card, which is really simple. On Windows, press the Windows button and use the search bar to find "Device manager". In the Device Manager window, expand the "network adapters" drop-down menu. The one you want you want to disable is likely called "Realtek" followed by a bunch of numbers and letters. To be sure, open your Task Manager, click the "Performances" tab, and click the "Wi-fi" bar. The name should be on the upper right of the window, above the graph. Disable (not uninstall) that device by right-clicking and choosing "Disable device". The external network adapter you bought should start working. ... show more

Works perfectly. Plugged it in, installed the driver, and disabled my computer's built-in adapter all within a couple of minutes. Picked up the 5Ghz signal right away, no issues whatsoever. If your computer supports 5Ghz and your adapter is not picking it up, this is a must-buy. Videos load and stream noticeably faster and I can cast to my TV across the Wi-Fi with zero buffering issues. I usually don’t out of my way to write reviews, but this antenna style Wi-Fi adapter is really great. Before, I had a little tiny usb flash drive type Wi-Fi adapter. After a while, I started having major packet loss and lag spikes when gaming. Ever since I switched to this adapter I have had absolutely no issues with packet loss or Wi-Fi connection at all. I bought this because the wifi on my laptop was going out AND because my past experiences with TP-Link has been quite favorable. This product not only is plug & play with both Linux & Win7 but REALLY pulls in the signal. I can now use my laptop in places I never had good enough signal to connect at all before. I did have a bit of trouble getting WinXP to recognize it but eventually got it working. Tech support is a tad difficult to contact initially, but very responsive after you actually reach someone. I just hooked the Archer T2U Plus up, and it is doing great! The computer I bought off of ebay did not have a wireless driver installed. This product solved that issue! No more Ethernet cord plugged up to my router! Quick and easy installation. It comes with the software disk to download onto your computer, but it also gives direction on how to download it online. I've never had to use a wifi adapter for my fairly powerful gaming laptop, but it is reaching it's later years now so this device was needed. After much research, I found this to be one of the best available. I will say it's super convenient to setup the first time. Now for the tricky part, making sure it still stays connected. Don't get me wrong, this product does work, it does it's job, but I find myself sometimes having to jump between the two wifi windows to find which one is still working when the connection goes out.
