  • Be sure to download the Linux Drivers
Though the listing states this USB Wifi is also for Linux-base systems, you will need to go to the Bostrend's site, search and download the drivers, as they aren't shipped with the device. Works beautifully once the drivers are installed for Linux Ubuntu, Mint, etc. OS. You must use an ethernet cable to do this first. Then copy the drivers and install from there. Very happy with the performance. Thanks ... show more

  • This WiFi adapter works great -- "sees" almost 20 access points in our neighborhood.
This WiFi adapter works very well. I hit a snag when I first attempted to install the driver, due to some problems with my Linux Ubuntu setup. I contacted the brostrend support people and they guided me through the process of eliminating the problem in my Ubuntu setup. On the second try the driver for their WiFi installed without a hitch. I highly recommend brostrend products, because they have excellent products and excellent support. ... show more

  • Solid build quality, but you have to go find the drivers if you are in linux.
Solid wifi adapter. Lacking GOOD linux support. I could have read the instructions, but searching for drivers online is not the most enjoyable thing. Get these drivers up-streamed into the mainline kernel, and the user experience will be much better. Overall, 'satisfied', but not 'wowed' with my purchase. ... show more

  • Doesn't work.
Sure, when the thing is detected by the computer, which is intermittent, you can open it in File Explorer to view a PDF with instructions for downloading the drivers. Okay, go and download the drivers and they are too large to copy to the dongle, so you have to use a second device to copy the drivers over. They did this to save a couple of cents on the manufacturing. At least the one I received is faulty. Why not just use an Intel or Realtek chipset. Suspicious. ... show more

  • Great for Linux; great tech support. (May initially run slow on Linux but there's an easy fix.)
Good WIFI adapter for Linux. Initially ran at slow speed for me. This turns out to be an issue with the Realtek drivers defaulting to USB2 mode instead of USB3. Contacted tech support, who were excellent and pointed me to the correct support doc to get it going in USB3 mode.

  • Driver installation needed an extra step
No problems with the device itself, but I hit a snag when installing the driver (on Kubuntu 24.04) - it threw up an error message saying it couldn't write to a directory. It turned out that was because the directory didn't exist. Once I had created it, the install went smoothly. With the driver installed, the device worked perfectly. ... show more

  • good alternative to slower wireless card in older computer
brought faster connect speed to an older computer. When plugged in directly, its a little close to the table. Have to be careful not break it off. safer to use a small usb cord (6 inch) to plug it in.
