I bought this Panasonic Toughbook because life is rough on laptops and Chromebooks. But I bought the CF-33 for several specific reasons. 1. Price point: You get 16GB RAM memory and an i5 CPU in a very strong package for a good price. 16GB and i5 is the place where Windows 10 Pro really begins to feel comfortable. Yes, you can run Windows 10 on 8GB RAM and an i3 CPU, and Windows 10 can operate there but it doesn't really perform there. 2. I wanted a detachable tablet for many reasons. This has that and it is really intelligently designed with the computer and (TWO) batteries inside the tablet--with just enough ports. 3. I wanted a larger screen but at this price, a 12-inch screen is the only option. I did not want to run Windows on a 10-inch screen. BTW This has really great resolution. THE GREAT This is my first experience buying from RuggedBooks and I will continue because their phone support is rock solid. So many vendors hide behind contact forms. The projection quality and clarity of the screen are astounding (literally, remarkable). On the brightest setting, the screen is visible across the room and it is SO VERY CLEAR to look at. This means it will be easier for the eyes after many hours. On the lowest brightness setting the screen is still visible in a dark room. The touch screen is very accurate and has crisp handling for on-screen elements. I upgraded my 256 GB SSD M2 to a 1TB SSD. If you do this you must get the 2280 size (format) and NOT get the NVME format. I used this one on Amazon (cheap too): Silicon Power 1TB A55 M.2 SSD (SLC Cache for Speed Boost) SATA III Internal Solid State Drive 2280 SU001TBSS3A55M28AB. You clone the existing C drive and operating system onto a new SSD M2 using a USB device for about $20. THE OKAY The keyboard is backlit and has four levels but they are all very dim. The screen is so bright you cannot see the backlighting in a dark environment unless you dim the screen all the way down and then tilt it up away from the keyboard and out of your vision. The mouse pad does not scroll (so I will get used to it), and the mouse touch pad sensitivity is "different" than any laptop you've used (I've used a MacBook Pro and an ASUS 302 Chromebook both of which have silk-perfect touch pads, and I've used several PC laptops which are good). I believe this touch pad is designed to work with work gloves so it is odd with fingertips. The solution I discovered is odd but it makes it work perfectly. I move my mouse with a fingertip using my fingernail, then when I want to click I tap with the fingertip. Odd. Yes, but ti works great. THE BAD Nothing to say here. ... show more

I use a government-issued CF-33 at work and really like the features and durability, so much so, that when it was time for a new personal laptop, I started looking for a CF-33 of my own. Problem was, to purchase new was cost prohibitive, and most of the used ones sold online are prior public safety computers and had seen heavy use, with the battle scars to prove it. I found this one advertised as "excellent" condition with some good reviews. It arrived yesterday and I was amazed at the appearance...truly "nearly new". Very sturdy built computer. Remanufacture job appears well executed. One battery tested at below stated acceptance standard but vendor promptly replaced the battery with no issues at all. The direct sunlight viewable screen really is viewable in bright sunlight when brightness is set to maximum level. However, at this maximum brightness level, and when running a somewhat high-CPU/GPU demand GPS mapping program, battery life is only about 4 hours. ... show more

Purchased this unit to use overseas. Everything looks great and functions normally. Haven’t had it for very long but the power cable that looked new seems to be cracking at the base of the cable already. It’s unfortunate but the cord still functions for now.

Edit: I want to take a minute to update my review of this item. Yes my shipping from Amazon was extremely slow. But the first computer I received was great until I noticed screen retention. I updated the review then and one of the people from the company actually reached out to me. That was a guy named Gavan. He recommended some things. They unfortunately didn’t work so he told me he’d be willing to replace it. I sent the computer back and Gavan was able to replace it within a day after I shipped it back. The replacement so far is like new. I have noticed no issues yet. This touch screen computer is easy to use, portable, has phenomenal battery life, extremely durable and at a great price. Both ones that were sent to me were in practically new condition. I felt as if my first review was a bit harsh especially since the seller isn’t the ones who are shipping the product. ... show more
