The Sidelines 5 flame settings radiate a soft ember glow up to an intense blaze. Sideline gives you the total package. Control the heat and flame with the remote control. Designed to use one log or crystal, if you prefer you can mix both safely.
  • INSTALLATION: This Sideline installs simply and can safely be attached to framing studs. The sides & back of the unit remain with the heat feature on. Recommended minimum of 8 of space between the top of the fireplace and your TV, mantel, picture ceiling. The Sideline can be installed in existing fireplace openings safely. Consult with a licensed professional to ensure your unused gas lines and vents are secured properly. The Sideline fireplace is ventless.
  • OPERATION: The Sidelines heater will take the edge off a cool room or basement, and it can be run with no heat, just flames in warmer climates. The Sideline comes with a 6-foot power cord for a 110-120V outlet. It is also hard-wire ready for in-wall install. The unit draws a max of 12 amps, so the fireplace can be used on a 15-amp circuit. A 20-amp circuit may be necessary, depending on the use of other electronics on that same electric circuit.
  • FEATURES: The Sideline features an unmatched flame. Friends will be nervous to touch realistic flame behind the glass. The Sideline includes faux-fire logs & crystals to create an authentic feel, as well as an IR remote controlling flame color & intensity, the heater and shut-off timer. Front facing heater vents allow you to position the Sideline just 8 under a flat screen TV. The Sideline can be hardwired or plugged in to your electric source.

The replacement unit started having the same issue after one month of limited operation and the grinding noise is so loud the unit can no longer be used. The media could not be loaded. OVERALL - Like most folks reading this, I read many other reviews before purchasing this one. We are completely satisfied that we got exactly what we were looking for here. We wanted the look of a fireplace without the mess (wood), installation costs (wood/gas) or ongoing cost to run it (pellet/wood/gas) either. I won't use it for heat for 9 months of the year, but I still get the look anytime I want. It is also clearly a centerpiece now in my house. Starting it with a remote control is a nice bonus too as I used to carry in the wood... that I had to order...and stack...in the snow...start the fire...etc. HEAT / LOOK - The high heat setting is enough to make a noticeable different in the room - especially on a lazy Sunday where it might be on for 5 hours at a time. Think of it as a ceramic heater with a little fan. Everyone who has seen it has positive comments about the realistic look and have also said the heat could be felt in the room. REALISTIC - I thought to include a video would be most helpful to those wondering about the "realistic" looking fire. This was just a plain wall before I started. I framed in for a Hearth/fireplace/mantle TV and then I used stone and oak to give it the look I wanted. Included some pictures of the build INSTALLATION / COST - It was very easy to install if you have basic framing skills and honestly (outside of the TV cost) only cost me about $1700 to build everything you see in the video with quality stone and solid oak qualities. That includes a new 20 amp dedicated line, fireplace, framing material, hardiebacker, mortar, stone. Full disclosure here - I do have some nice tools to make that happen too though. This would easily cost me $8k if I had to install a wood or gas fireplace - and around $12k if I had to have someone else do it all. ... show more

I built an "Entertainment" wall in our master bedroom. This fireplace was the centerpiece. Simple to install (after running a dedicated line to power it) GREAT tech support. I had one small issue after months of use but it turned out to be the batteries in the remote (dummy!) The fireplace warms up our room and provides a very calming ambiance. My wife runs it year-round. Mostly with the heater off. We chose to use the "log" setup instead of the glass rock look. Who knows, we may switch it up in the future. TIP: I framed my opening to the EXACT specs on the product and it was a very tight fit. The tolerances are not THAT tight so do your self a favor and give yourself about and extra 1/8th or 3/16th of an inch all around to ensure easy installation. ... show more

Buying a product such as this online, just from a picture, is a little daunting. So we headed to a local store to check them out in person. The one they had in stock that was the same size as this one cost $1500, and the flame effect was weak. The salesperson also told us that the heat wasn't good enough to really warm up a room. Since installing a real gas fireplace wasn't an option, we decided to take our chances with this one. Because it was being sold by the manufacturer, we figured if there were problems we'd have a better chance of getting help. So glad we did! Installation was very easy. The flame effect is very bright and realistic. It has five flame brightness settings, and to be honest I can't tell a big difference between them all, but am happy with even the lightest. I also like that it comes with logs or crystals, and you can change them out whenever you like. The heater works well on the low setting, but when we tried the high setting, it shut off after being on less than a minute. I emailed their customer service and they sent a new one to replace it! Very happy with this purchase! Update: It's been almost two years now since we installed the replacement unit and it still works great! We use it all the time, with heat and without. I do rehabs and purchased this item (Touchstone 80004) to replace wood-burning brick fireplace. Last Friday, my contractors installed this unit, but the flame was very fading and not bright enough. It is also strange that contractors said there were no remote controller nor rocks, etc.. I wonder if we got a unit that someone has returned.. In any case, without a remote controller, we could only turn it on and adjust with buttons on the unit itself, which gave us not much control. Only weak flames (one kind) and the heat. I called and left a voicemail to their 800-215-1990 (option 2). I will update this review after I get a call from customer service. I can simply return the item back, however, if they provide support to make this unit work like the photos on Amazon, I will be happy. Today is 1/20/2017. I received a call from Brian/Tech Support. He was very professional and courteous. He asked me for the photo of the fireplace turned on, which I will send to him shortly. He said the unit comes with 1 year warranty and will help me to work this out. I am happy so far for his support. Will update once resolved. Today is 2/10/2017. I have received the replacement unit from Brian, and now the fireplace looks and works great! Thank you, Brian, for your help in resolving the issue. Good product at reasonable price. ... show more
