  • I Think it Would Flush a Softball!
IMO, the best toilets available, been using them for 20+ years. Wasn’t sure about the “swirly” flush of the new Drake, but it works well. Great price through Amazon. If there is any criticism, they have a louder flush than many, but it’s music to my ears. They work great & I’m pretty sure that I’ve never seen one clog, anywhere. ... show more

  • The best toilet ever
Mine arrived in two packages and both in on piece! The regular boxes were inside boxes with a lot of padding in them. They came with everything except the toilet seat and wax ring. I had a plumber put mine in. I did purchase the matching soft close toilet seat. This is very comfortable to use, which sounds weird. I guess you only think about it when they're uncomfortable. The height is great for me, and I'm 5'5". There's no splashback from flushing. It flushes SO FAST. My cats are afraid of the flushing! The coating works great, and when I did have particulate that made it past the first flush, it did not make it past the second. Very happy with this and I will eventually upgrade to a washlet. ... show more

  • Don’t order this great toilet online
My 2 piece Drake toilet arrived in 20 pieces. I heard the shards of porcelain tumbling inside as I tilted the box. Bowl was severely cracked apparently during shipping. Ordered a new Toto toilet locally. What a bummer! 😕

  • Powerful flush clears the bowl great replacement for older toilets.
Like the powerful flush , really clears the bowl. Old toilet was higher water use and swirled slowly. One week old but happy. Bad news is the bowl was broken on arrival. Customer service was above and beyond very pleased with them. Replacement came in three days. Plumber came and installed it. Hooked up the water then filled the tank. The tank had a hairline crack not visible to the eye, small droplets formed and it dripped because it was cracked. Again customer service was excellent , replacement came in three days. So I ended up with a spare parts kit, like the flapper, flush mechanism , all the hardware . I saved $120 over home depot cost which direct ships and could have had the same problems. Each plumber install was $180. As a senior citizen I couldn’t pick up the delivery . Scooted the box inside . Very heavy which is good. Noisier than most flush toilets. I had two 40 year old high gallons per flush toilets which had to be double flushed and plunged a lot to clear stoppages . I put in an american standard which clears the bowl well but has plugged and needed the plunger once. Toto is better with bigger deposits and no stoppages. Both toilets avoid concern of poor bowl clearing and guest embarrassment. I should have replaced them 5 years ago when the problems started. Best customer service ever!!!!! ... show more

  • "flapper sucks"
latterly the powerful flush on this toilet pulls the flapper valve apart after just a few flushes, access is easy and after digging the 1 to 2 parts out of the toilet tank its easy to resemble and put back in place, 30 seconds or so. So I determined I needed a new flapper unit, well it was difficult to find the correct part, and am not sure I want another engineered so poorly. My solution after several hours lookng for new parts, was to take some "Show GOO" and just glue the part on that holds the flapper gasket in place, this Click to install system is easy but a rather STUPID design. The toilet overall works great, flushes better and stays cleaner as advertised, just shocked they would include such a simple and inferior part in their system. Highly recommend if they reengineer this part if not get your self some shoe goo. ... show more

  • Works at least as well as I had hoped for, if not better
Shopping for a new toilet is one of the most challenging things you can do for your home. You have a primary expectation: Successful flushes in all usual circumstances with one flush. But you ultimately have no way to tell if a new toilet will perform in it's hoped-for fashion until it's installed, and then it's really too late to change your mind. You can't simply return it like an ill-fitting garment or a defective device. I searched on and off for weeks and weeks for a new toilet to replace an old cracked one. There are so many variations and claims that it's hard to sort through and know what to believe or expect. I settled on a 1.6 gallon flush because I feared that less water would not perform to expectations. I then relied on reviews, both good and bad, and tried to draw consensus conclusions. But then I had to find a product that could be delivered to my area, and that added additional challenges. I settled on this standard-height Toto product. So far, it has performed admirably. Flushes are short, but powerful and thorough. The short flush still gives me concerns, but that's a result more of habit. This is not described or designed as a "dual flush" unit, but you do kind of have that option. A quick activation of the lever is actually adequate for all flushes (so far), but if you feel comfortable with a longer and stronger flush, just hold the lever down a second or two longer. The bowl is described as having a non-stick coating of some sort, and so far (it's been several months) performs as advertised. Toto advises against using chlorine bowl cleaners and says that soft bristle brushes should be used with gentle swipes of the bowl. Keeping the bowl clean of mildew has also been a concern. I have long used chlorine tablets (I hate blue water cleaners), and they have performed admirably, but I've had to get used to periodic changes of the flapper and become inured to watching the tank bolt heads corrode. Given the caveats by the manufacturer against chlorine tabs, and the atypical flush/flapper design, I didn't want to invite early parts replacement challenges, so I looked for an alternative. I’m hoping that the warning against using chlorine bowl cleaners is more of a legal CYA than an actual warning, but be advised. For the new toilet, I went with the Fluidmaster 8300 Flush 'n Sparkle Automatic Toilet Bowl Cleaning System with Bleach Cartridge. (That system has a “blue water” septic-safe option.) When properly installed (pay attention to the water going into the fill-tube and not the tank), it has the advantage of sending chlorinated water directly to the bowl while totally bypassing the water in the tank. Again, so far, this has worked extremely well. The only drawback so far is knowing when the cartridge must be replaced. With a tab, you just lift the tank lid and look. The Fluidmaster must be removed (a simple twist) to be examined. That’s not necessarily a big deal (I haven’t tried it yet), but I can see it being an annoyance. The Fluidmaster claim is 90 days of typical use as they define it. An alternative I'm looking at for other toilets in the house for using up my current supply of chlorine tablets is Kaboom Scrub Free! Toilet Bowl Cleaner System, which works with a similar logic to the Fluidmaster, again bypassing the tank water. (This system also has a “blue water” septic-safe option.) It uses what appears to be a smaller tablet than the ones I’ve been using, but I think that can be adapted by quartering the current tabs. I hope that this review has been helpful and that it eases your purchasing choices. ... show more

  • Fantastic!
First of all, this is a 5 star toilet. If you look at the 1 star reviews bringing the overall score down, they are ALL due to shipping problems: those buyers received broken parts. Those reviews have nothing to do with the quality of the toilet. Perhaps those buyers purchased from a different seller. Mine was impeccably packaged. Both tank and bowl were separately packaged with plenty of protection, then those two boxes were in a larger box that was stuffed with protection. Installation was easy. I'm a 68 year old man and I've worked in construction but this was only my second toilet installation. I used a "Better than wax" seal to make things easier. I installed the bowl first, then the tank. This made installing the tank a little more challenging (I had to lie down on the floor and squeeze under to access the bolt nuts.) But I knew that would be the case. I did it that way so I would only have to lift the bowl to attach to the floor. (The bowl is around 60 pounds, the tank around 30 pounds. At 68, I'd prefer not to lift 90 pounds!) The tornado flush is uber-efficient, and takes about 3 seconds. It takes 30 seconds for the tank to refill. The CEFIONTECT works great. When I get up to pee at night I don't flush so I don't wake my wife. Even after a month of that the bowl looks pristine. I've seen several YouTube videos where plumbers rave about the Toto Drake, calling it hands down the best toilet on the market in this low price range. If, after years of use, I have some reason to change this review, I will. Until then, I very highly recommend this toilet. ... show more

  • World's greatest toilet
In a world where everything is junk and nothing works right, this toilet is a wonderful exception to the norm. The water swirls in the bowl reminiscent of old toilets which actually used to flush things away. Things go down with the Toto. Things don't stick to the bowl either. One flush and everything is down the drain. Gone are the days of jiggling the lever or having to open the tank to keep adjusting things. I wish Toto made vehicles, appliances, and everything else in life that is now complete junk from the get go. This is one of the few purchases I've made in the last 5 years that has not broken or given me trouble. I bought standard height which is great because I'm 5 ft tall and hate not being able to touch the floor with ADA toilets. I can plant my feet flat footed on the floor with standard height. And if space is an issue, this toilet isn't near as long as other elongated bowl toilets. It takes up roughly the space of a round bowl toilet made by other brands. It's very easy to clean and the white is bright. Get the Toto seat made to fit this toilet when you buy. The seats are as good as the toilets themselves. This toilet is also easy to install and arrived in 2 separate boxes so it was easier for me to drag into the bathroom. I installed this toilet myself in under 20 minutes. Remember to replace the shut off valve and save yourself some hassle down the road. ... show more
