This is a great toilet! We bought it from Amazon and used it to replace a much-more-expensive but horrible-flushing Kohler toilet (very pretty) that we grew to plunge and hate so much we ripped it out and I installed this toilet myself. As others have said, it has a great flush, it is quiet, its manufacturer has the lowest defect rate in the business, and it uses simple operating parts that are easy to service and readily-available locally or through Amazon. The factory authorized replacement parts for this toilet are made in the USA by Korky, who makes many of the OEM fill valves and flappers for Toto. (This toilet uses the Red Korky "Fits Toto" flapper and the blue "Fits TOTO" Korky 528T fill valve. That "T" in the model is important, because the regular 528 won't refill the bowl sufficiently; you can also use the adjustable-refill 528MP.) A TIP: If you have an issue with the fill valve after a few years, don't replace it, try servicing it first. If you have the type b fill valve, its manufacturer makes a servicing video for the valve; type in korky service on you tube and the video should come up. There are some quick videos of this very toilet flushing (nothing gross). Just flushing water, flushing clean paper, and a view inside the tank while flushing. Just search on Drake CST744s on you tube and these should be the first 3 that come up. There are some weird noises on the video; ignore them because its just my crummy cell-phone camera microphone distorting the sound of running water. These toilets basically go: slurp, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, then, a running-water sound while refilling, then just stop filling. Nothing that's going to wake your mate. We love this toilet because it really did let us toss the plunger, and we know it will be installed in this house for decades to come. One other note: If you live in a jurisdiction where you get a rebate for a 1.28gpf "Watersense" toilet, there is a CST744E version of this toilet that qualifies. The bowl is the same. The china tank is the same; it just has slightly-different guts inside. (Green-colored valve that has a slightly-lower refill ratio so less water is wasted down the bowl during refill and flapper that looks the same but closes slightly-faster.) Toto just tweaked this thing so it would perform the same but only use 1.28gpf, and saved most of the water on the refill, not in the flush. People who have both have reported they flush the same. Because it's the same toilet, if you don't like the 1.28 flush, you can have as a backup plan to swap the fill valve for the Blue Korky valve and swap the flapper for the Red Fits Toto flapper and you will have yourself a 1.6gpf Drake. But everyone I know or have read who had that backup plan was totally happy with the 1.28gpf EcoDrake (not to be confused with the more-expensive Drake II, which is a totally-different design). On the other hand, if you're not in a drought jurisdiction, or don't care about the water savings, then just get this one.

FIrst things first - it does not come with a seat. The only one I found went for $50 here on Amazon. Never in my life did I think I'd pay that much for a toilet seat - but I did. So, you've been told. The seat IS nice. Slow drop, quiet in the middle of the night. Yep. The toilet is GREAT! We've been enduring a unit that flushed through only when it felt like it and I attributed it to septic tank backup issues. Nope. Septic cleaned, new lines run, toilet still finicky. I replaced the guts of the thing. Replaced the water line. Cleaned out the line (PSA: never use one of those rental rooters in an enclosed toilet room...). Nope, no change. It was time to go ballistic and replace the whole thing. I looked online for one that flushed powerfully. Found this one. And did I mention the old toilet was short? More round than oblong. Guys will understand the issue with short toilets. Let me summarize: YUK. 'Nuff said. So replacing this required the additional purchase of a wax ring for a couple of bucks (and the seat). It was difficult to measure the set back of my existing unit because it was still installed so I guess a little and I thought I had at least the 12" required by this new one. I had 14" as it turned out. Yay. The directions, if you need them, are spot on and simple. Remove old, clean old wax, install new ring, mount new toilet tank, and drop 'er in. I would recommend this to a first-timer even. Functionally, this thing is awesome. NO more necessary second flushes. In the month or so we've had it we've experienced absolutely zero "incomplete" flushes, and it's been tested. Well. Ahem. I'm going to buy another one for the other bathroom. Hope that tells you something.

First the positives: When I first purchased this and had it installed, nearly four years ago, it was a Godsend. The toilet that had come with the house I now own took forever to refill upon flushing, and sometimes it wouldn't flush properly at all. This one refilled in a fraction of the time, and clogs were a rarity, and generally easy to remedy. The average per person water usage in my house declined by over 25%. So it seemed to live up to all of its promises. Now the bad news: A few months ago, I noticed that the handle seemed stiff, and harder to push down. And there was a strange, intermittent plopping noise between flushes, followed by a short hiss. Since this wasn't a continuous noise, but only occasional, I didn't think it was a serious problem. Then I got my water bill. In just that one billing period, my water usage nearly tripled, with the extra water used amounting to nearly one-third of all the water that I had saved during the previous 3 1/2 years combined. With the $250 plumbing bill that I paid to find and fix the problem, all of my savings in water bills were eliminated as well, and on balance (not including the purchase price of the toilet) I spent $128 more on water (and repairs) during that period than I would have with the old toilet. In spite of this, I am only taking off one star from my rating, because during that 3 1/2 years of having a trouble-free toilet, it was great, and I would say even worth the extra money spent. And, if the problem ever happens again - say three years from now - I will be able to recognize it and get it fixed immediately, preventing the water loss, and probably cutting the plumbing bill in half, since I can tell the plumber exactly what's wrong (or, if I'm really ambitious, I'll have a replacement kit ready and just do it myself). So I still recommend this toilet, but with the caveat that if the user encounters any apparent change in its behavior - attend to it immediately!

Best toilet I have ever used - As I wrote in the header - You flush it - It goes down!! :) That is the most important feature. Then care- no pumps or major moving parts to fail. Just flush it - it goes down. Simple concept, but not a reality with some other toilets. Worth the extra $50 to $100 over the "standard" get plugged toilet. I have used mine since October 2017 only one time did I have an issue - found some fudge baseball size chunk - it was moldy so I decided to flush it :) Hard tossed it into the toilet - It stuck to the toilet bowl. flushed it it didn't go down :( The impact had totally pasted it to the toilet bowl - hit it with my toilet brush a time or two - Flush it - it went down - back in business - If I would of just dropped it in or lightly tossed it in I am sure that It would have gone first try. But I wanted to try something more extreme. They also stood behind the product - Fed ex some how managed to lose it and break it - on the first shipment - They got me a replacement with no issues. Then made sure I got it working. Remember to buy a seat - be sure to match your bowl style - mine was the Elongated Bowl. Make sure you read the instructions to connect the tank properly. It is a little tricky, but do it right and You'll love your toilet.... Flush it - it goes down... :)

I'd heard of toto but never sat on one until recently replacing a standard round bowl toilet in an upstairs bathroom with an elongated toilet. It was imperative to me I find a standard height 15" or slightly less tall toilet rather than the so called "comfort height" or "right height" toilets taking up much of the inventory these days. Why? Because the higher from the ground one is the less natural it is. This places way too much totally unnecessary stress upon the human body both inside and out and has been shown to cause all sorts of unpleasant and even some dangerous health conditions. I'd prefer to be as easy on myself as possible thus the standard heights importance. It made a nice toilet much more difficult to find, almost impossible at any one of the local homegoods stores so I came to amazon where while still a frustrating search I found a handful and weeded them out slowly until deciding on this Toto toilet. Honestly in large just to see what the hype was about but it also checked all my boxes. Impression of the toilet is that it is really an attractive toilet which is not what I'd ever expect saying about a toilet but so be it. Im not in awe of the powerful flush that the toilet is supposed to have. While it's not been an issue and seems like it won't I just don't see how one could compare this to a commercial grades flush that if not careful could easily take a backpack or a jacket that got knocked into it. This is a nice quite adequate flush. Overall I am happy with the purchase and functionality if not somewhat bummed by the missing flush I read so much about. It does sit even smaller overall than the round bowl toilet it replaced which is great and does look great. I'd recommend to anyone yes

I don't normally post comments, but I had to make an exception on this one. My personal experience from a customer viewpoint was exceptional from start to finish including the manner in which they packaged the parts. I received 2 packages.. 1 with the bowl the other one had the tank...each piece was surrounded the with (not sure how to describe this... but...) stiff puffy pillow-like protectors which ensured nothing would get chipped, cracked or broken on the journey. I ordered the Ebony color and with it I purchased the matching SoftClose toilet seat and the Fernco 3 inch wax free toilet seal. I got it installed today and not only it is beautiful (even the plumber took a picture of it) but this dude flushes so fast and thoroughly, I was completely speechless. I asked my plumber what he thought of this product and he said this was one great toilet... there you have it folks... :) Bottom line: Best decision I ever made. I will be ordering the same toilet for my other 2 bathrooms. One note to those getting a matching seat. Make sure you look at the product details on the PDF file. It will list the correct inventory numbers for items matching the toilet you want...Also, I am short and this one is a great height for me... However, if you are tall, you might want to get a taller version...Again, check the details as it should provide all the dimensions of the product, including the distance from the floor to the top of the bowl where the seat comes (add a 1/2 inch for the seat height itself)... Finally, the FERNCO toilet seal is an nice addition as well. Overall: Excellent Investment

I am very picky about toilets. I've been through many of them. I rented apartments most of my life and hated the toilets. When I bought my first house I had it built so I had the luxury of buying 4 toilets of my own choosing. I picked 4 completely different models across two brands. None of them were fantastic and one of them was a complete dud. When I moved into my second house I wanted to replace three toilets. This time I did more research on the web and found that Toto was the best flusher on the market according to all the user reviews. So I bought one to test out. Wow, they were right! Now I own three. I will never use another toilet. CAUTION: do not "test" the reviews that say the toilet will flush ANYTHING. It is not true at all. Toto is a gravity toilet, and like all gravity toilets with a trap, they CAN get plugged. For example, one of our Toto toilets is plugged as I write this... WITH A Q-TIP. Q-tips are a big no-no in toilets. And now we have proved that even a plastic-stemmed q-tip WILL clog a Toto. For days. Plunger won't dislodge, so we have to use a toilet snake. Be that as it may, as long as you use the Toto properly, it is the best flusher I have ever seen - and with very little water. It is designed by people who understand how a toilet should flush. I'm no plumber, but it would appear that they engineered it so that the start of the flush sends the water through the rim like most toilets, and then it toggles to a small jet of water at the bottom opposite the drain which slams the flush down with more force than a conventional gravity toilet.

After reading lots of reviews I ordered the elongated toto drake here on amazon. the product sat in the box in my spare room until my bathroom floor was finished. After unboxing and installing the entire toilet I installed the seat and found it extended way beyond the front of the bowl. The toilet bowl I received was the drake standard rather than the elongated. Amazon offered a refund but that would have involved dis-assembly and adding more time to my bathroom project. Instead they allowed me to return my elongated seat and purchase a new fitting one. I can't review the feel of the elongated bowl but just would like to warn buyers to check their bowl size/model before installation.
