  • Amazing bike Amazing bike
Color: Blue Size: 26"
I'm a 5'10 220ilbs man that has been using this bike primarily to commute to work. I wanted something hardy because the routes I take are filled with pot holes (~1-3" deep) and this thing has to withstanded the streets. I've had it for several months now and the battery is still as good as new. My commute is 18-24mi roundtrip (depending on the route). I charge at work and that usually takes 2-3hrs and use up maybe 20% of the battery. My routes have steep inclines and with the pedal assist I can manage to bike around 12-15mph. The max speed seems to be around ~19mph using street radar signs, and google maps (on flat). On hills I've managed to get it to go up 39mph (but again my hills are steep). I've installed a bike rack on it as well to carry works stuff and it it fit nicely (although not all racks fit it you have to find ones that have long screws). I've biked with it over 550mi and no major issues. I did have to replace the rear bike tube at 500mi. It didn't have a puncture but it looked like the seems of the tube were just "loose" and air was escaping. Tire change was ok. a little bit more involved with the motor but still DIY. I changed the brakes at 450mi and lube/clean the chain every 100mi. My partner liked the bike too and was trying to get one after riding it. Shes 5' and the seat is able to go all the way down to accommodate her. She ended up getting a different bike because of a styling preference but that also made me realize that this bike is "light weight" in comparison to the other ebikes she ended trying out and settling with. The bike is great and I'll comment again after 1000mi. My only complaint is that you have to start biking at a low gear or the chain will pop out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Over 1k mi. tires are balding (normal wear and tear). lubing the chain every 150mi and no issues. feels like the same bike I started off with. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- close too 2800mi/~1.5yrs. I've changed the tires once more (balding), right crank was starting to come loose, and ~12 spokes from the rear tire along with the rear cassette (that one was around 1500mi). Bike is still running pretty well. Noticing that the battery is starting to drain a little more than before (maybe 10-20%) and it feels like the motor isn't as strong as when it was new. The rear wheel with motor has a weird nut locking the motor onto the wheel. I can't find the tool to access the motor to perform any maintenance on it (clean and regrease the motor). The bike shop that fixed my spokes didn't have one either and had to make the tool, to replace the cassette. The spokes were also custom made as well. Still love the bike just wished they made the motor more accessible for maintenance. Will update again when the e-motor dies. ... show more

  • Great bike for the money but upgrades are really needed. (UPDATED!) Great bike for the money but upgrades are really needed. (UPDATED!)
Color: Blue Size: 26"
This bike is pretty well made and really a good value for the price, It has a headlight, A horn, A throttle and a nicely backlit LED speedometer that unfortunately only goes up to 19.8 MPH regardless of how fast you are actually going. It has 3 pedal assist modes and a 350W motor that does pretty well to get my 240 pound ass up to 19.8 MPH. That being said I found it necessary to make some upgrades that all totaled around $130 The first upgrade was the seat and seat post, This bike like most inexpensive e-bikes come with a cheap, narrow (uncomfortable for most) seat with a solid post, I purchased a cloud 9 seat with a spring assisted post and WOW! what a difference that made...Next was a Smart tail light with a rechargeable battery that actually has a brake light feature that senses when you are stopping and goes really bright red, Then I installed fenders to keep the water from splashing all over me and last but not least an adjustable handlebar stem. This 0-60 Degree Bicycle Stem Handlebar Riser Extender made the biggest difference for me. Totguard comes with a straight horizontal handlebar stem...This adjustable stem makes the bike much more comfortable and controllable for me. So far I am very pleased with the quality of this bike and the customer support has been very good responding to my emails. The upgrades I have made are just my personal opinion. Update...So far despite all the upgrades I felt needed to be done to the Totguard bike am still overall very pleased with it and havent had any major issues. That being said if I had it to do all over again today, I think I would have chosen the entry level Jasion EB5 over this Totguard bike and let me tell you why. The Jasion EB5 is basically in the same price range and offers much more. #1 The EB5 has the adjustable handlebar for taller people (over 5'10") that might have a bad back and want to ride in a more upright position. The Totguard handlebar is stationary and in a very low position. #2 The EB5 has an easier to remove battery. #3 The EB5 and EB7 has a much larger COLOR LED display which shows you your actual speed...The Totguard peggs out at 19.8 MPH ...I think these bikes motors aren't supposed to go over 20MPH and neither does but The Jasion bike will actually display your true speed when you pedal assist. #4 the Jasion EB5 and EB7 has 5 motor assist speeds rather than the 3 of the Totguard #5 The Jasion EB5 and EB7 motor assist engages immediately (within 1-2 seconds) ...My Totguard takes as long as 4 seconds of pedaling for its motor to engage and once it does I can sometimes hear a strange vibrating sound when it first starts up. These are simply my observations. ... show more

  • Everything I wanted and more as a beginner
Color: Blue Size: 26"
This is my first bike as a young adult. I’m not very in shape, and if you also aren’t in shape, buy this bike. It goes up to 20mph with full throttle, but it also has multiple levels of petal assist. So if you’re biking with a friend who is more in shape than you, you can still keep up with them while getting a little bit of exercise. I also live in a mountainous region, and the throttle really helps you get up the steep hills that would otherwise be a big struggle. There are a lot of complaints about the brakes in these reviews, but if you’re just looking for casual rides on paved or gravel roads you’ll be fine. It doesn’t stop on a dime, and it makes a little squeaky sound, but someone at my local park lost a basketball and it rolled out in front of me and I was able to stop while going pretty fast. The battery lasts several miles. On flat ground I still had two bars (six total) after pretty much going full throttle for over an hour. I still haven’t run it dead yet. I will warn you that if you leave the headlight on, that really kills the battery. For the price I think this is an amazing first bike. I would recommend it to any and all of my friends if I found out they were interested in it. My boyfriend and I absolutely love it and after work everyday we find each other asking “want to go bike today?” Super fun. -Katie ... show more

  • Updated after seller replaced battery - Consider not buying a cheapest in class ebike.
Color: White Size: 26"
Update on May 6, 2022. The seller has been responsive about offering a replacement battery which has arrived, and appears to now let the bike work as designed, as I just completed a 5-mile ride on the new battery in pretty hilly terrain and finished with 4 bars left on the battery. The initial damage prevents this from being a five-star experience, but the customer service does make this pretty good value. The bike handles pretty well, taking significant bumps (I have a railroad crossing near me) without drama. The assist is enough to get my out of shape 250lbs self up all but the steepest hills without drama. I do live on a massive hill that is a bit too much right now, but I'm sure getting more miles in will help my legs do their part. The brakes are perfectly functional, but not super confidence inspiring, so I'll probably be making a weekend trip down to my local bike shop for an upgrade. Probably not a big deal if you aren't dealing with large hills. One other minor downside I'll mention is that the bike frame doesn't have a lot of space for attaching accessories to the frame, so you'll probably want a rack/basket if you're using this for utilitarian trips. I suspect this is down to the relatively lightweight design for an ebike that seeks to minimize materials, so it's understandable. All in all, this bike is now living up to my expectations and seems to be a solid value. ------End update--------- I really wanted to like this bike, and will update after dealing with the hassle of having to return an entire bike over what I'm pretty sure is a defective battery. The bike came mostly in good shape, though some of the plastic clips which attach the battery were broken. Despite this, the battery seems to click into place, though it was so hard to remove that it was tough to tell if the lock works or not. Assembly was pretty easy. The front brake caliper required some adjustment but other than that it went together well. The initial charge indicated that the battery was fully charged after just 15-20 minutes. I went out for a short ride and all was well. I took it out a couple days later after topping up, primarily using a mix of assist levels and a bit of throttle on relatively flat terrain and it died after about 4 miles right before getting to the big hill. I took it out again a few days later after another full recharge, going a bit easier on the assist, and it didn't even get as far as the first ride before the battery totally died before despite still showing 4/5 bars on the power meter. Now about a week later after not taking it out due to a cold, it refuses to turn on despite the charger indicating that the bike is fully charged. I've tried reseating the battery, powering it on and off, but nothing. I suspect whatever happened in shipping that broke the clips on the battery may have caused more serious damage inside. The topper for this is that there is no support option to just replace the battery. Not having a warehouse to store large boxes, I also can't simply return the bike for a refund since I don't have packaging to fit it in. This means that I now have to try another one and hope I don't have the same issues. I suppose this is acceptable financially, but the hassle (and environmental impact) of having of having to exchange a whole bike for a bad battery has left a really sour taste in my mouth. To the extent that the bike worked, it was enjoyable. I'm now just kind of wishing I had just bought a better e-bike to begin with instead of cheaping out on something like this. ... show more

  • Great value with lots of features
Color: White Size: 26"
I rode a friend’s electric bike a few months ago and absolutely loved it but she paid close to $2,000 and that was too much for me. I kept wanting one and after looking at the features and reviews for this bike, decided to take a chance. The bike arrived in a single cardboard box and was well packed with lots of foam padding and zip ties to keep parts from flopping around. After removing all the packaging, I was left with about six or seven parts to assemble and a bag of included tools. One thing I wish they would have included in the instruction manual is actual assembly instructions but I’m pretty good at putting things together and it’s pretty obvious. There weren’t any parts I looked at wondering where or how to attach them. Just for fun, I started a stopwatch and put the bike together at a casual pace. Total time was 23 minutes and that included putting the handlebars on backwards and having to take them off and put them back on the right way. I literally got on the bike and started pedaling around right away. I then spent another 10 minutes carefully going over everything just to make sure things were aligned and tight. Next, I plugged in the charger and walked away to do some errands. I think the manual says it takes five hours to charge from empty but it was full after less than three hours. I was ready to give it a full test on the street. This bike is a lot less expensive than my friend’s bike so I had little doubt it would ride just fine but thought maybe it wouldn’t feel as solid or be as peppy when using the electric part. I was wrong. There are three speeds to the power portion and you can really feel it! At each speed it seems to sense how much you’re pedaling first, and then it kicks in with extra boost. It keeps supplying power after you stop pedaling but then again senses if you’re slowing down and the power stops. I had just as big a grin on my face as when I rode my friend’s bike. The real surprise that I wasn’t expecting is there’s actually a throttle on the right hand grip and you can supply power by turning it. You don’t even have to pedal. A small but very visible computer screen shows you what power level you’re using, how much battery power is left, your speed, odometer, time, and some other info that I haven’t yet figured out. Other features I really like are a headlight, horn, and this might not seem like a big deal but a nice little kickstand. It also has front shocks with a dial you can turn to lock it and turn it into a fixed fork. I’m trying to think of things I don’t like but I’m really happy with this purchase. It’s a good looking bike and full featured and you can’t beat the price for what you get in return. Literally everything is included to put it together (I did use my own adjustable wrench to remove a temporary rod installed in the front fork). The manual is the weak part with maybe two illustrations and ten pages of safety warnings. I would have liked assembly instructions with a focus on how to make sure everything is perfectly aligned and secured and some more info about the onboard computer but I’m not going to ride the manual, so not a deal breaker. ... show more

  • Great bike
Color: Blue Size: 26"
Bike works well as advertised and battery life is good. My heel often hits the kickstand or comes really close but that's minor so I took out the kickstand. Would have liked if there were a full EV mode where the bike optionally moves only by throttle without the pedal assist possibly coming in
