I bought it fo the name Toshiba. Really just needed a portable cd with speakers. This is beautifully built boom box has everything. I am not sure if I will use the cassette player or the radio. However its main purpose is to travel with me where ever I go. Sound is good as to be expected with smaller speakers. Loud with quality sound for a small music box. Everything is easy to use. I like that it works. I can't say that about the famous brand boom box I bought previously. The price is also good. The one negative is that it has almost zero bass. I do not usually write reviews but felt I needed to write one on this WONDERFUL little Toshiba cd/cassette/radio “boom box” due to What I think are unfair negative reviews it has received. This boom box is excellent! It’s versatile, extremely sturdy and well-built. A few reviewers said it was difficult to operate. What they did not note is that this boom box has LOTS of functionality most others in its price range don’t offer! If you spend about 5 minutes and take the time to glance over the very easy to understand instructions included with the unit, you will not have any issues learning to operate it! The instructions are in 3 different languages - English, Spanish, and French and each language has its own separate set of instructions. About the functionality: You can program up to 20 different radio stations. You can also program it to repeat one song/track on a CD, repeat all of the tracks, or random play the tracks. Not only does it play cassette tapes but it also records! You can record from a CD or the radio OR from an external “audio product.” Several other reviewers stated that this unit has a “tinny” sound. I agree that it does sound a bit tinny but almost ALL smaller, portable players do AND if you want to hook up a better speaker to this unit, you can do that too through the AUX IN terminal! Best of all, to me, was the surprise remote that is included! It’s a cute, tiny little remote controller WITH a battery already inserted and ready for you to play! This is the simplest way to get started. I used the remote to start playing a CD while I glanced over the directions. :) That’s how I learned about all of the other great features and functions this little, extremely low priced unit has! This radio was bought to replace a perfect old Sony CD/Radio/Cassette player. We listen to our radio or cassettes all the time in the kitchen, and I was excited about the small size of this boombox. Unfortunately, the sound is staticky or tinny, and has ruined my radio listening while cleaning experience. There is not a way to adjust bass or treble. The cassettes and cds sound better than radio. The pre-programmed buttons make no sense. I figured them out when I first got it, and a few months later, I just went to find one of my pre-programmed stations and couldn't remember how to do it. I also ALWAYS push the fastforward button when I am trying to hit the play button...the button imprint is hard to see and their placement is non-sensical. I would say this radio seems like more of a "toy" than a true musical companion. ... show more

I really like this little boom box. The color (green) is metallic and unique. It could use a bit more bass and it didn’t come with a remote but that’s okay. I bought it for a road trip to the beach. I have 1000’s of CDs and you can no longer find a new car with a CD player anymore so I thought I would give it a go. It would take me hours, no, more like days to upload all the music that I’ve collected over the years. And all the wasted time making play lists would take up too much of my freedom. Whatever happened to just popping in some music that you’re in the mood for at that moment? I miss the good old days. I have a marvelous component stereo system but I can’t take that to the beach. It takes batteries so I can unplug it and take it with me while I work in the garden. I also love to plug it in on my back porch on a cool evening. Great purchase. I haven’t used the cassette deck yet but I have boxes of mix tapes from the 80’s somewhere. Maybe during the next pandemic lock down I’ll take a trip down memory lane. ... show more

I bought two of these and wanted to return the black one. The buttons are black and the button label is just an indention, no paint or light. So seeing the labels in low light was impossible. I wanted to return the black one and seller approved return but the cost to return was 25 percent of selling price! I contacted Amazon because listing said returns were available. Amazon said they were available for a return shipping fee which in my opinion is unreasonable at 25 percent of the sales price. While I was still considering the return I asked the Amazon rep if there would be a restocking fee. Amazon rep did not know and did not know how to find out. So before I lose all my investment in this little cd player and pay for it and have nothing, I’ll keep it. But you should know the seller, Nationwide Group, has expensive return shipping and the product itself is very basic. As another reviewer said, there is no logic to placement of control buttons. And since buttons are dark you never know what the button is for. I would return mine if I could but I don’t want to pay for a cd player, return it, and still have a substantial investment in a returned item. Avoid Nationwide Group if possible. ... show more
