  • Best combination I’ve found at this price point.
Color: Black
Let me tell you this thing cooks. I read some reviews complaining about moisture accumulation during microwaving. This is a good thing not a bad thing. It traps all the moisture in the cooking chamber so that it does not dry out the food. Microwaves work by heating up water molecules in the food. As they heat they vaporize. If it were completely dry, then all the moisture would have escaped or it doesn’t work. Once 100% humidity is reached it will stop drying out the food as the moisture would not evaporate. So again seeing moisture accumulation is good during microwave function. Broil bake works better than any countertop oven I have had. In fact it works almost as well as the top oven in my kitchenaid double oven that costs 4500$. I am just using this during the renovations. But I will definitely keep it to use in my new kitchen because it heats up so fast and is great for smaller items. Combi cook is pretty awesome. It uses the bake and microwave functions together. It keeps things crispy on the outside while quickly heating them to the core. Defrost is also fantastic. Defrosts a full chicken breast without actually cooking any of it. Super great. I have not used the sensor cook function yet. The only con is that I don’t think it’s something children or anyone not intelligent enough about metal in a microwave. It comes with racks and such but you CANNOT use them in microwave function. They will spark. This is the reason I think most companies don’t make a microwave combo. User error. But if you are smart enough not to be dumb then you will love it. If you are a foodie cook on a budget, you will love this product! ... show more

  • Versatile Space saver
Color: Black
It took me four tries to finally get the right combo unit. Firstly, I have limited counter space. I wanted an airfryer originally. Got one but it had peculiar issues I was not expecting or what happens when you mix molded plastic with high heat. Decided that the unit I buy must be all metal with limited use of plastics both for recycling latter on and reducing BPA contamination. That's when I decided to look at the combi function appliances. Setting this as the prequel to my review for the purpose of contexting my following comments on this unit. I want to make it obvious That this item has limitation many of which have been written in previous reviews. Had , I had a bigger counter , more space ,etc. I would have made my kitchen gadgetry demands and purchases quite different. Pros' This unit does indeed do all that it is asked to do. It has plenty of power (Wattage) to serve all functions. It is well built , good looking on the counter takes less space than my old microwave. The microwave wattage is larger than my previous one so it does better than my old one. The unit produces no unwanted odors. It has smaller clearance valve to other objects and walls than most of the others, another important factor in my decision. The benefit of the combi functions where I can microwave and airfryer ( convection) or broil at the same time. This is a huge time saver in cooking while at the same time giving a higher desired result than just microwaving food. Personally , I would love to have bought the 1.6 cu ft. the 4 in 0ne model instead , but its size was still to big for my counter. Overall I am extremely pleased and would indeed recommend. Cons' Most who have read the reviews with this model will hear some of the same things regarding this unit> Alas, No mechanical device is perfect either by design or omission for the sake of trying to do to much with one item. So, yes the presets and the controls are a complete boondoggle to the mind and renders simplicity of use to the back of the line. I actually wasn't originally going to buy this, because of this fact alone, and did in fact try another model, one of my many tries. It was one of the highest rated and most expensive one. But it was a clunker to me and didn't at all appear to be built to last, I returned it quickly without a second thought. The number of combinations this unit has for cooking I guess just makes difficult for any controller to be easy and I assume they all suffer in this way. It is manageable and I am gradually gaining confidence in selecting the right combinations of pushes and selections to match my own desired cooking results. Other than this unit is operates flawlessly. Is easy to use and keep clean. I will address one other concern or flaw that some have commented on, "the moisture build up" . Indeed , if one does not pay attention this does indeed happen. It is a minor issue, INMO, that is easily remedied by leaving the door open after using the unit for about 10 mins. It does not happen all the time and is only the result of certain cooking functions and types of food being cooked ( mostly liquid beverages or soups and Microwaving). I assume somehow that this unit has an interior insulating blanket or mat to keep the outside metal from becoming to hot. I am guessing it also inadvertently creates a moisture barrier for the inside. As stated it is only relevant to to easily comprehensible cooking functions and types of food/ beverage which are understood immediately and one knows to not close door after this use and allow for unit to air out. Much like modern washing machines require that the door be left ajar. Overall a great purchase worth the money spent. Thanks. ... show more

  • The microwave/airfryer/convection oven is great; fire the editor of the cookbook
Color: Black
We are feeling our way around learning to use this new appliance. I bought my first microwave in the early '70's and I am VERY familiar with the pros and cons of microwave. The added features are getting a lot of use. For a household of just 2 people who don't eat a lot this is a really great purchase. We have done a lot of experimenting with doing very small entrees in this. Which brings up my major gripe. The accompanying cookbook is really impressive at first glance, and should have been a great guide for getting used to the new ways to cook with the appliance. Unfortunately, it is one of the worst little cookbooks I have come across. To begin with, the instructions have absolutely nothing to do with the appliance. The instructions just say "bake" for every single recipe. The shortcut on the upper left hand corner say "conv" for every recipe. Going beyond that, it is very obvious that the photos are not specific to the recipes, but were carelessly downloaded from some other source, with no regard as to whether the ingredients were even similar or if the shape is consistent with the recipe instructions. The recipes themselves are often inaccurate or miss key ingredients or amounts. It is quite obvious that nobody involved with the marketing ever cooked any of these recipes. In a recipe for "Spanish tortilla" it simply indicates "eggs" with no number. The photo obviously includes red and green peppers, which are mentioned nowhere in the recipe. The photo also shows one large tortilla, though the instructions call for dividing the ingredients among 6 cups of a muffin tin. Similarly, the doughnut recipe shows regular doughnuts with holes in them, but the instructions simply instruct to mold the dough into round balls. None of the coooking times are accurate--although this may partly be due to the fact that I am left guessing as to whether I should be using broil, broil-convect, combi, air fry, microwave, or whatever. As I said in the title, fire the editor. He/she totally failed at what might have been one of the best marketing tools for selling the appliance to my friends and relatives. When I bought my Kitchenaid oven/convection oven, the included cookbook got a LOT of use. While I worked my way through that great little cookbook my neighbors, friends, and family soon became very familiar with all the glories of my "magic oven." I expected the same here. Sadly, no. In spite of the book I am learning some great uses of the various settings, but it is all experimentation, complete with the expected number of fails. Nobody is calling this a magic oven, which is too bad because the machine seems to have some really great features. It has only been in the house for a few weeks and I have used it a few dozen times. With a decent cookbook this might have been well worth 5 stars. As it is, I can't really say that it is at all easy to use--though it will be in 6 months time. Nor can I give it full stars for versatility, though I will certainly say that the possibilities are there. In the meantime I am annotating the cookbook in hopes of making it what it should have been when I opened the box. ... show more
