I just finished installing 12 of these lights on one circuit for my wife's sewing room. Hadn't done any electrical work in many years. These were installed in bottom floor and the ceiling joists were those ones with V and W studs (engineered trusses ?), so fishing wires was fairly easy. I have seen many questions on which dimmer to use. I used the one below and so far, no buzzing, flickering or anything else. It worked ok but not doing much electrical, it was hard to get everything fitted into the driver box, especially standing on a ladder. So I added a junction box (IN, OUT and pigtail out to driver bo) prior to each driver so if something goes bad, the replacement would be easier. For the most part, my ceiling was empty so I could set both boxes up there without too much concern. One tip is to move the spring loaded clips completely a couple of times to free them up a little. The first one I tried, I almost broke a finger as these things are strong and I did something wrong and caught my finger in it. Once the electrical was tested, I just actuated one spring and set it in the hole. Then gently opened the other and slid it up into the hole and centered it. You should test your hole saw to make sure the diameter is correct. I set mine for 6 1/4" and it was a nice, snug fit. I drilled the holes using the following hole saw. All in all its not a bad choice but after the 8th hole, you could feel these blades getting dull. I know this can't be avoided but the manufacturer should include at least one set of replacement blades. I did get all 12 holes done but I went slower on each hole. Nice bright light and design, I am sensitive to the glare as they are flat so perhaps a slight recess would be better for me. I cut a hole with a drywall saw and found an easy way to measure the opening. Just use a standard one gallon paint can cover and put a screw in the middle, attach to ceiling then outline from the smaller inner rim. Cut outside the line, it was a tight fit so I'm sure using the outer rim would work also. Either way, the paint cover helps to visualize where you're putting the light. ... show more

There are a few issues with these lights and I won't install these in my house. I tested them in my kitchen both 5000K (too Blue) and 4000K (Still slightly too blue) but neither was a very crisp light. You can tell the CRI is lacking and you want a high CRI value in the kitchen. They are however pretty bright so maybe these would be fine someone less formal. The biggest issue in my eyes is the 18 gauge multistrand wire and the lack of space inside the box. It was brutal trying to wire nut these with 14AWG wire. I tried using fancy push connectors but the wire is not stiff enough to insert them. The wire nuts worked the best but still didn't feel like they twist securely. Another issue is only 2 3/8" punch outs which means if you have 3 pairs of Romex going to your first light you will have a hell of a time getting that to work. The junction box itself isn't very well made and very thin material. At $10 I am scrutinizing these lights because you can buy a much more quality light like Commercial electric lighting from Home Depot for a dollar more per light (currently on sale for 10.97). CE has a CRI rating over 90 and is a much better all-around light that won't catch your house on fire. I just don't trust these lights so I returned both sets and currently waiting for a refund. ... show more

Effectively I bought this for ~$12 per light. Compared to what recessed lights used to cost, this is dirt dirt cheap. There are many things going for this: 1. Price is right 2. Looks very nice installed 3. Sturdy high quality mechanical construction of the lights 4. Very easy to install - no need for complex cans to screw into the joists like the old days. The light is the thickness of the drywall and clips onto the drywall. One just needs to make a round hole and connect. 5. When a unit goes bad, the vendor replaces it free no questions asked, right away (within days). I had installed 22 units thus far and 2 had to be replaced. Once replaced, I believe it will last virtually forever. So, ~10% go bad shortly (< a few weeks) after installation if it is to go bad. The other units have now lasted a year with absolutely no problems. 6. Uses very little electricity 7. Generates very little heat 8. I bought warm white. Very nice color 9. Nice and bright. Just the right brightness for me. However, I also installed some with a dimmer to control the mood. Note: Although I had 2 go bad on me (out of the 22 installed), these appear to be very reliable once the bad units have been identified and replaced. Bad units are doomed to failure right out of the box and the good units are built like tanks. Very sturdy overall mechanical construction. In both cases, the lights themselves were fine. What went bad was the power supplies that sit inside the individual junction boxes. I get a sense of high build quality. Once replace, the units should last virtually forever for all intents and purposes. Everybody who has seen the lights had lots of good things to say about them. ... show more
