I won't pretend I have a ton of experience with thermal imaging cameras, but I know a good piece of tech when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now. Build quality is first rate; fit and finish suggest a high degree of care and precision. This feels like a professional grade unit. The manual is virtually non-existent, although there is a quick start guide inside the package card. There's also a QR code that takes you to a website with more information. Those helped me get set up and ready to go but honestly this handheld unit seems fairly intuitive. One of the first things I realized is that your readings on screen are going to be influenced by whatever surrounds your target. This means I can point my camera at an extension cord and it will look hot while the floor looks cold, but as soon as I bring my hand into view next to the cord, now my hand looks hot and the cord doesn't (just to cite a low-tech example). Scrolling through the various color functions didn't seem like a huge value-add at first but I soon realized there will be certain profiles that make more sense in certain scenarios I can see this unit being quite useful around the house for detecting things such as hot spots within the walls, as well as in the garage for troubleshooting vehicle emissions or climate control systems. The only thing I consider a glaring omission is the lack of a carrying case. For a precision instrument such as this, expensive or not, it seems a no-brainer to include a dedicated storage pouch or clamshell case. Just seems an odd thing to leave out. At least they remembered to provide a USB-C cord for charging, and even gave us the good quality braided kind. I'll hunt for a case for this thing but in the meantime it shall occupy a place of pride in my tool cart. This is a handy device I didn't know I needed until I got one.

This mini thermal camera is rugged and compact. It's great that it can take pictures, I do wish it could also take video though. For the size and the price the resolution is good, it's very low res but it doesn't really have to be high res to find hot or cold spots. The battery life is really good. I like that they put a mounting point on it. As far as accuracy goes it's hard to say as I don't have another imager to compare it with, however for most applications reasonable accuracy is all that is necessary. I'm giving it 4 stars because the user manual is lacking a lot of detail I would have liked to have, such as settings and what they do. Also, I found that at times when I tried to use this on something that was out of the temperature range that the unit was set to it just sort of locked up and froze. It would be much better if it simply had a notification pop-up telling you that you need to adjust the range for it to work properly.

My #1 reason for getting this - electronic devices can get HOT. I've been burned too many times by touching something that was malfunctioning that shouldn't have been hot but indeed was. This device shows me "hot spots" on any device I'm working on. It does need direct line-of-sight view for the best results, but if something is under a surface and generating enough heat to warm the surface it will show the temp on that as well. USB-C rechargeable , includes internal battery.

This TOPDON Thermal Imaging Camera TC004 Mini / 240x240 IR Resolution / 15H Battery Life / -4°F to 842°F / Thermal Camera Handheld for Home Maintenance, Leak Inspection, HVAC Inspection is a nice piece of kit to have available. Seems well made and durable; comfortable in-hand; easy to set-up and start using right out of the packaging; and, worked as intended. Multiple uses I'm sure - just use your imagination. Pretty neat to be able to see thermal images - even scanning the area around your campsite/campground at night - pretty amazing !! Only downside was that there was no storage/carrying bag included.

I tested this thermal imaging camera on a variety of sources, including boiling water (pictured) and ice, and it was always within a degree (F) of the expected value. Resolution is surprisingly good. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem possible to export images. The camera can connect to my computer but doesn't show up as a removable drive, and there camera's (small) memory is internal and can't be removed. The manual doesn't offer any help in this regard. If I can figure out how to export images, I'll update this review.
