This is the second mason bee house I have purchased from this seller. The first one was perfect and the bees love it however this latest house arrived without a hanger. I can put a hanger on it but I shouldn't have to. Their production issue is now my problem!

It is perfect for solitary wood-boring (carpenter) bees, as well as mason and paper nesting bees. Only the frame is painted, so boring bees aren't repelled by painted wood. The house is sturdy enough. Also, no wasted space with butterfly slits and other features that are basically not used. One of the 6 tubes the momma bees filled actually opened and a baby bee emerged, with mom hovering all around. Wonderful! Since I wrote my initial review in June 2021, I too have experienced problems with the outer construction starting to come apart. However, I have several other bee houses that look like this one but that came from different vendors, and they too are "loosening". Frankly, the bees do not care. The houses still remain totally useful and thoroughly occupied. I only wish that I could replace the spent tubes because I am afraid that when they are reused the bee larvae can suffer from parasites that have taken up residence in used tubes. I will look into replacing the tubes. They are just bamboo tubes, after all. I still recommend this house, especially for beginners and those with tight space requirements. None of the features of this house have been wasted or ignored by my beautiful little bees. I now have a cloud of them around the houses and nearby flowers. ... show more

This mason bee house is sturdy and well made. I expect it to last many seasons. Funny, I grew up on a farm and my dad had bee hives and everything. But I was not familiar with all the other different bees, and their needs. I plan to improve my bee knowledge!
