Top Amazon Reviews

  • Fantastic value in a modern bike setup
Color: Throttle White Size: 20"
There's so many good things about this bike but let me give you a major reminder that will address many of the negative reviews about this bike: You need to have some mechanical knowledge of bikes in order to have ANY bike work well. If you don't know how to adjust a rear derailleur or rim brakes, then just be prepared to be frustrated with any bike that has gears or rim brakes...especially at this price. Ok, with that out of the way, here's the review: MECHANICAL: Once you get the rear mech (derailleur) set correctly (meaning the chain is properly in line with the gears) it shifts great and stays in line well. The components are great, having a brand like Shimano is always a plus and great to see at this price The twist shifter is a little firm, my 4 1/2 year old struggled at first to shift, but got the hang of it pretty quick and now has no problem shifting up and down. The chain stays on well SIZE: The size is great, I think it does run a little small for a 20", but in our case that was a good thing because we wanted a bike for him to grow into. ASSEMBLY: Assembly was super easy. Ideally I wanted disc brakes to avoid the annoyance of having to regularly adjust the rim brakes, but it is what it is. Can't fault it too much considering the price. UNIQUE FEATURE: One of the BEST things about the bike, and honestly it has more to do with me being a mountain biker than my kid actually caring, is the cockpit setup. It has modern style handlebar and stem components just like what you would find on a modern mountain bike. This actually plays a big part in the control that the rider has. Classic/old bikes have the "Y" style handlebars that put the kids hands way above the frame of the bike. All this means is less control, but it's cheaper because they don't have to separately spec out a handlebar/stem that will fit a modern head tube. It might be a small feature, but it sets this bike apart. OVERALL: A solid, well performing bike that looks great: all at a great price. MOST IMPORTANT: My son loves it, and that's the main thing, right? ... show more

  • It’s a bike.
Color: Throttle White Size: 20"
I gave this bike a try because my 6 year old needed a challenge and a new skill set. That means I needed a bike to tough it out for those mishaps and it needs to have all the basic of a typical bike, such as gears, brakes, and be able to handle all type of path or road. First thing when taking it out of the box I notice it was not a Shimano braking system, instead it was a generic universal braking system. The next thing I also noticed was that the instructions were again not specific to this bike but just a universal instruction for the type of bike that this company sales. Assembling was as any normal and typical as any other bike. Build quality was on par with any bike in this price range and there wasn’t any major issue found. Overall all the negative reviews of this bike is true but they are again as expected for this price range. On the seller page for this bike it does not state that it comes with Shimano braking even though the picture show that it’s a Shimano braking system so I can see the confusion and frustration of some reviewer. I gave it a 4 star because for the price it’s on par with all the other bike that is on the market in this range and nothing really made it felt like it’s a standout but for what it is, it’s not a terrible value. ... show more

  • DON'T DO IT!
Color: Throttle White Size: 20"
Tempted by the reasonable price? I was lured by the price and features and made this purchase (first mistake). This is certainly an item where you get what you pay for...spend a few extra dollars and avoid this model, manufacturer. Packaging was very good, thus I was surprised to find many scratches in the white paint and the black handlebar stem. However, I needed the bike for a preset and figured we could touch it up later. Assembly was relatively simple, taking about thirty minutes with a helper. As trash day was in the morning, I hiked the box to the curb (second mistake). The next morning, present given, adjustments were made to the seat, handlebars and brakes to fit the new rider. Seat and handlebars are fine, brakes are impossible. It took an hour to get them adjusted and I still don't quite think they are right. They just don't seem to be able to get into a proper angle or tightness to make one comfortable. Note - I've tuned many many bikes over the years, brakescan be difficult, but thus bike is just not right. I aired up the tires and hoped the weather would clear by the weekend for a first ride. The next morning the back tire is flat. Hoping for a different result, I aired it up again and by tat evening, it was flat again. Now, it will be a trip to the store, $10 on a tube, an hour to repair (of course it is the back tire). While it did have air, my kid took it for a drive. The gears are clunky, the bike is noisy and she said the brakes don't feel right. The box is gone, re-packaging after I built it would had been a huge pain, probably not worth the time or effort to fix, so I'm just out the money. I'll donate the bike to our community bike center and spend a few more dollars on a better bike. My lesson, buying a bike on Amazon is a bad idea - buying this bike is an even worse idea. ... show more
