so far so good. ordered this coupler for my ice dispenser motor and it fell apart in my hands. 241726501 Auger Motor Coupler Replacement for Frigidaire Kenmore Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Compatible with 259212 215285000 241624801 Refrigerator Ice Auger Drive Bar after practicing with an old screwdriver and some steel pipe for maintaining an arc for several inches and to get a good feel for it, i pressed the coupler back together with vise grip pliers and put 3 tack welds around the circular nut using this welder. the ice dispenser crushes ice once again! i have zero experience with stick welding and was able to repair the coupler the same day i received this welder. i used rods TOOLIOM E6013 Welding Rod 3/32" 5LB Carbon Steel Stick Electrodes and glasses AnTools IR 5.0 Welding Glasses, Wrap-around Welding Goggles, Anti-scratch Welding Lens, UV Protection, Meet ANSI/ISEA, OSHA, Black to complete the work (ugly looking but holds strong). notes: i set the current to 100 amps and it worked well. try to find thinner sticks for mild steel. these worked well but felt bulky getting into the joint of the part. wear thick leather gloves and long sleeves, the metal gets insanely hot really fast practice running a few inches of bead first.

Note: All examples were done using 220 volts. UPS brought this little guy to my house today. After unboxing, first thing I did was check the DC open voltage with a multimeter. Unit checked out 80 v. much better than stated voltage of 65v. I turned the amps all the way up and it read 138 amps. I hooked the unit up at little welding station I have down in the barn. I used electrode and grounding cables from another welder (these cables are heavier that what came with the unit). Time to weld. I first used Forney E7018AC 3/32. Amps set at 80. Struck an arc and keep it lit on first try. Welded like butter. Very impressed. Next I tried 6010 3/32 on DCEP (electrode on positive) 80 amps. Too cold. Gradually cranked it up to 100 amps before I could keep the arc lit and weld. I then reversed cable polarity. Arc popped and cracked and sounded almost scary. I turned the amps down to 60 amps and was able to weld but keeping the arc lit was a challenge. Lastly, I tried Forney E7018 1/8. I had to max out the amps before I could weld. Conclusion: Runs 7018AC 3/32 like a dream. Runs 6010 3/32 kind of sort of if ground clamp is on pos and electrode is on neg (DCPN). I can make it work but not a lot of fun. I did not try 6013 or 6011 but I think it should run those rods up to 1/8 without much problem. It will weld 7018 1/8 but that is max it can do. I am not disappointed with my purchase. Day 3 up date. I have been welding with 6011 and 6013 both 3/32 in and 1/8 in rods. This little guy runs those rods great. Runs 6013 so easy I think I could train my dog to weld with it. Great Buy !!!!!!

This does what it's supposed to do better than you may expect. I bought this for one purpose and the purpose was not to weld with it! I needed a variable amp supply to cook some deep cell 6v forklift batteries back to life. This did exactly what I needed it to do. I don't recommend hooking a welder up to acid-filled batteries to everyone but if you're going to do it anyway, this is a good welder for that. Fast forward to 2026... I finally had a welding use for this and it I was super amazed at how well it started an old 6013 at 120 amps and repaired my zero-turn frame! I thought that I left a review last year on this but I was mistaken so now it definitely deserves to be shared!

Lightweight if you are a novice like me it will take a while for you to get use to it but it works well the price is reasonable and it is very functional It is pretty small looks big on the photo almost 9 in in length And three and a half inches in width
