It’s not top notch quality wise but it’s sturdy and the bees seem to like it. In this picture you can see two of the tubes “occupied” and a bee in a tube right next to it. They are only using the tubes, I think the wood slat part is too small so I’ll probably drill them out with a 1/2” bit. Overall I’m pretty happy with it 🌻 ... show more

I have purchased four different styles of bee houses and this is my current favorite. The bees prefer using the wood blocks but are also filling the paper tubes, so don’t be afraid to use this house.

I have taken dimensions and will make three more. Anyone with a table saw and some scrap cedar can make this easily.

I mounted the bee house on a garden wall that gets good sun. I thought I would have to wait for them to find it, but within an hour there was one buzzing around it, checking it out. She left but brought all her friends and now the house is quit well occupied. I am going to buy more.

Received the beehouse in 3 days. Looks exactly like the picture. Design and cedar wood are first class and if you open the bottom hatch you can detect a slight cedar odor, reminiscent of a cedar chest. Design is such that this will be the best looking thing in my backyard. Comes with a bag of cedar chips to place in the lower chamber where the Mason Bees will hatch. I purchased 15 bees in Portland Oregon, and have them in my refrigerator. They cost about one dollar each. If you need good info. on Mason Bees, google Oregon State University.     • Great Design & Sturdiness
I really liked the design and sturdiness of the bee house. Because I am new to this, I would have liked to receive some written instructions on when to replace the paper tubes, and whether or not I needed to remove the cocoons or let them hatch in the tube.

So my resident mason bee has nearly stacked this little hotel and the amount of mud Ms. Mason put into the hive actually caused the top to split from the sides or rather bow. It's for sure only good for one season unless I refinish it or something. I'm sure in the shade and not in south texas heat it would last well into three seasons but it has allowed for several eggs to be layed which brings me joy that I'll have American native bees buzzing around the garden within the next year. ... show more
