  • Just 1 trap did the job.
Number of Items: 1
I was caretaker at a house with rat infestation so bad, I saw multiple rats running across the floor 3-4x/day. The owner & his daughters would only allow nontoxic methods. I later realized the pest control guy just put out 5 or 6 mousetraps & called it a day. Never even baited them; never checked them. But if there was no bait, I guess there was no reason to expect the traps to catch anything. Finally I said screw what this delusional guy & his indifferent daughters want; this is unsafe for me. I bought the Tomcat & knowing that rodents 1st sample something to test that it doesn't make them sick, I pried open the trap & slathered the bait with peanut butter. [Yes, I know it is sealed to be child & pet safe, but there weren't any in the house & I NEEDED this to work.] Simply pressed the top back in place, put the trap on the floor where the rats traveled. When I checked it a few days later, the PB was gone & about 1/3 of the bait. So I repeated with more PB & reclosing the trap until the bait was completely gone. No more constant scuttling noises. I did see 1 small rat or maybe a mouse, weeks later. But I knew 1 trap couldn't possibly eliminate all of such a major infestation. Yet 1 trap was remarkably effective, or maybe it was other rats cannibalizing poisoned ones. I found a couple cadavers that were skeletons & skin, & despite the heat, there wasn't any of the unforgettable stench of decomposition. So, very cost-effective. Thank you Tomcat. ... show more

  • bait powder all over inside of box
Number of Items: 1
It says no need to touch the bait on the product's description, but when I reached in to take the plastic bait station out of the box, it was covered in light green bait powder so it got all over my hand. Wasn't aware I needed gloves to take it out of the box. Washed hands many times to try to get it off. Just hoping it works for the mice and rats. ... show more

  • Seems to attract mice
Number of Items: 1
Put it outside my garage door and have noticed the green block slowly being ate away. I’m not sure if the rain has anything to do with this as I have not found any mice bodies, but I can say that I have found and caught a live but immobile mouse from the same bait but a smaller trap about 15 feet away from this one. ... show more

  • Another useless bait
Number of Items: 1
I bought this larger size as the mice looked too fat to fit in the two smaller bait stations of the same brand. I noted they can fit through a dime size hole but heck, make it easy for them to gorge themselves on the bait. Nope. Not a nibble or bite and the mice just continued on destroying our garden. I ended up buying an enclosed snap trap and it worked so well. In a few days all the mice were dead and the garden was mouse free. Apple and peanut butter baited snap traps are the bomb! ... show more

  • Don't Open Indoors and....
Number of Items: 1
Product was very easy to set up and use, just pull out of box and place in desired location. Poor packaging though makes this product tremendously hazardous! Bait box itself is not wrapped/sealed separately...so poison brick can chip during shipping and leave crumbs in box. These crumbs can easily fall throughout your home, so I strongly advise you to not open indoors and use gloves. Update: The thing works...sadly. About 2 months after placement, I noticed that the poison bait was finally beginning to be eaten. Great, right? Except what followed was disgusting. The rats started dying underground, around the house, and my entryway, the closet near it wreaked of something dead. When it occured, the smell lasted for at least a week and required some scent candles and a bunch of deodorizers. Not sure if I'll purchase again bedeodorizer shipping hazards, smell, the horrible way these animals die and maybe most importantly, the rats are still running around. I think I'm going to try something different. ... show more

  • Satisfied
Number of Items: 4
My office has been having rat visitors lately who I believe are coming from nearby restaurants. I know since I caught the suckers on my trail camera after I had suspected that they were around. This set of rodents is smarter than most. I have a variety of traps which includes kill and no kill. This time around, the only thing that had a positive impact are these Tomcats. I just found a rat carcass this morning behind the office near the AC. I just ordered four more for backup spares and placed two additional Tomcats at front of office behind the bushes where I see them sneaking around. ... show more

  • You need to keep an eye out for where they die
Number of Items: 1
Found the dead mouse in the house under the living room couch even though the 2 traps were one in the basement and one in the kitchen under the sink, right where they could come in from the basement. For those that don't expect this, the mouse will die after eating and will drop somewhere away from the trap (which is good, if other mice would come by the trap and fine a body they wouldn't eat). Make sure you keep an eye out, specially if you have pets, not to play with/eat the poisoned dead mouse. Also, look under and behind furniture unless you don't mind a little dead body around, i had to check because my cat pushes all of his toys under the couch where he can't reach and had none at the time, or else that thing would still be there ... show more
