Much better design than the adapter that originally came with our Instep trailer. This new one actually works with the thicker 12mm through axel found on late MTB. Works perfect on my 2018 Trek Stache.

As echoed elsewhere, this part was a lifesaver. New-bike excitement had turned to frustration when I realized the 12mm thru-axel attaching the rear wheel on a new gravel bike wouldn't accept the mount for a trailer I received for Father's Day and have enjoying porting my boys around in for many family rides... I envisioned a number of jury-rigged solutions, when I found this coupler would do the job without any of the safety concerns from a homemade fix. I did still have to grind a rivet on the mount-arm of my trailer to fit in the coupler, but this was because my trailer is from an (established, but) slightly lesser-known brand, and must differ slightly from the most popular model of trailer. Still, a couple minutes with a Dremel tool is far preferable to having to replace a whole bike trailer over an axel that was 2mm too wide for the old mount... Sometimes you have a problem, and the Internet's already solved it with a perfect, affordable solution. Love it when things come together like that. ... show more

I bought this because the thru axle on my bike did not work with the part that was originally sent with the cart. I bought this particular one because someone else had the same issue and it worked for them so I figured why not give it a try for $8? Unfortunately this part has the same issue as the original model. My axle fits through the hole no problem, the issue is the cam locking nut on the end. The locking nut is larger than the space provided on this part thus my axle only catches about 2 threads when it screws in. The issue is my axle, not this part. The images show my problem and my axle model. FYI my bike is a Jamis Nemesis. The reason I knocked 1 star off was the fit of the pipe from the cart. Others have mentioned it is a tight fit and I agree. I had to wedge it in the and then pry it off. The original manufactured part slids on without an issue. ... show more

I let a friend use my bike and they had a flat. While changing the tire they lost the little round piece in the grass. I was devastated. Thank goodness I was able to get a replacement. I actually got two! My dogs love going for bike rides to the park and have a routine! I have a 3 year old pug & an 18 month old 40 pound European French Bulldog who needs to run off energy. It fit my larger through axel great, was a piece of cake to install, and seemed very sturdy, and well-coated to protect against rust. My problem was that it was just *slightly* too small to fit the quick-release attachment piece in for my older InStep "Quick N EZ" trailer. I don't know the series because there's nothing on the tow bar (maybe the sticker fell off). But if anybody else has an older Quick N EZ trailer... watch out! Our trailer fits fine on the old couplers, and is very easy to slide in and out. With this one, I tried WD-40, I tried wiggling and prying, I tried using a mallet... I probably could have pounded it in, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the quick-release feature to attach it to our other bikes. ... show more
