Have had this Hurkins heated coffee mug for a couple of months now and I like it. It keeps my coffee/tea hot for as long as I need it to be hot. Temp runs around between 133-145 degrees which is adequate for me. I don't use the lid at all as I don't find a need to do so although it fits tightly on the mug if you need to use it. It plate the cup sits on is not designed to heat up beverages from room temperature so don't expect it to. One negative issue is that the cup, if insulated at all, will not keep your beverage hot if you take it off the charger even for a short period of time. So, you need to stay close to the charging plate until you've finished your beverage of choice and close to wall plug. The mug would benefit from better insulation in my opinion. But overall, considering it's price point, it's works well for me.

This mug is exactly what I was looking for, and I highly recommend this mug! I’ve always wanted a mug warmer since my water and tea cool down so quickly, especially during winter, and it’s also not easy to constantly replace my cold water with hot water when I’m working in the office. I wanted to find a fair-priced one with decent quality, and this mug perfectly fit so well to my needs. I was debating whether to buy a black or white mug, and I’m glad that I got a white one. I love the simple & minimalist design, and the packaging was very neat, pretty, and thoughtful as well. It’s visible that the designers cared about not only the mug itself but also the packaging. I really appreciate that aspect, and I think it would be a perfect gift option because of that:) I’m also very satisfied with the size and capacity of the mug. It’s a bit bigger than a regular/small mug size and that’s what I wanted. I was concerned about forgetting to pull out the power cord when I leave the office and had a huge relief when I learned that it has 8 hours auto sleep. Can’t wait to try hot chocolate in this mug during the Christmas season!!

I've used this for about 12 months after a coworker gave it to me. I have seen given it to other friends. Price is pretty competitive compared to other heated mugs. It's a fun novelty. This is a heated mug that requires a plug, it's not a travel mug and needs a pretty high powered USB power source from the wall. A computer USB or random USB power adapter probably won't work. Be sure to check output if not using the provided power plug, otherwise it will not work work properly (intermittently heat, won't light up etc) There's no temperate settings but the holding temp (around 140-150F) is what most people consider "hot" coffee that's on the edge of drinkable. If you want it to cool off just give it a could of minutes off the pad or take the lid off. It will heat up cold coffee with some time (maybe 30min or so for 4-5oz from room temp to hot) and lid really helps with heating. Over materials/build is good. The white material ceramic of mug will get stained with coffee, like most white/lighter coffee mugs. I just clean it periodically with bleach or some other oxidizer. Only other complaint is sometimes I have to fidget with setting it on the pad to make sure the light is solid and it's applying heat.

I have used several other types of cups to keep my coffee hot, but all of these previous units had problems. I had two battery powdered units, from the same company, which kept the coffee hot but rarely worked right. I normally had to reset the cups to get them to turn on. In addition, after approximately 365 uses, they had their batteries die, and there was no way to replace these batteries. I also had problems with these two cups, when their battery charging rings, on the bottom of the cups, had problems making contact with the charging pins on the charger plate. Both plates were replaced by the manufacturer, but the replacement plates soon had the same problem. I also have a cup plate heating unit, but it takes a long time to heat the drink. This new unit heats my drink up, in a reasonable amount of time, and then is able to keep it hot longer than I normally need. I found that its' induction power plate, must be connected to the USB power supply, that came with the unit, and not some other power supply that you may have, as the power supply needs to be able to provide enough power to heat the drink, and still have enough power left to allow the plate to control the heating. I also found that the power must be turned on, to the plate, before you put the cup on the induction plate, otherwise you can get the blinking indicator light and no heating. I am happy with this unit and because it does not have any mechanical electrical contacts, on the cup, or any batteries to die. I expect it to have a much longer life than my previous heating cups.

I needed a mug to keep my tea warm since I can never finish it in one go. It's bigger than I expected and the shape is cute and comfortable to hold - aka I use this as a handwarmer too while I'm working :) I love the multi-use charger - it's super convenient to keep at my desk. The lid was also a great idea for on-the-go use or to prevent any spilling, love it. Solves all my problems, buy it, it's worth it.

This self warming mug is well designed, and is perfect choice for gifting during winter holiday season! I always got frustrated how fast my hot tea gets cold during winter, but now I don’t have to worry about it with Smug. Also, I was amazed that mug warmer can be used as phone charger; who doesn’t like useful additional function?!
