  • A really enjoyable process.
Nice motor and it's fast. The installation was pretty involved and I used Google Gemini and chat GPT to help put everything together that mixed with YouTube videos. One thing that I had to live with is when I put the motor in I end up having to take it back out throughout the wires up between the down tube and the motor and wants to arms are on they were difficult to get off even though I threaded the crank arms in there and wind up being on too tight in that aluminum bind it to the motor parts so if I ever have to swap the motor out that's going to be a problem but overall it was a nice build. everything fit really well it's surprisingly quiet although in my video you'll see it's a little loud that's a zip tie rubbing on the back to hold the back fender up but I urge you to collaborate with some type of AI chat bot on how things will go together to get an understanding especially if this is your first build and you're not really that mechanically inclined The motor is small and out of the way and powerful so it looks good pretty durable I suppose especially because I'm 260 lb and I ride my bike and it's like it's no problem just the $750 watt one mounting went like a breeze and when I had a problem and had to contact customer service they were journey on the spot even though it was still a situation where I was in the driver seat but it was good to know that if I need a support they were there. I'm thinking about buying an extra planetary gear just to have around but my whole thing with this was that I wanted a bike with a smaller tire that if something happened I can put it on the bike rack on the bus and this just worked out all the way but once again I implore you to have a nice conversation with Gemini or Chat GPT and get a really good understanding of how things work and how they go. ... show more

  • In my 50's and I love my bike again In my 50's and I love my bike again
You won't be disappointed. I got the 750w kit with a 48v 20 amp-hr battery for my GT Aggressor Pro mountain bike, because I'm a fairly large rider, at 250 lb and 6'3, and it seems like 750w is the maximum legal motor size for my area. Installation was smooth and pretty much everything I needed was in the boxes, which arrived on different days. The only things I bought separately were a few small washers that I used to help mount the motor. Those might've been unnecessary but I wanted to be sure there was no necessary stress on the mounting plate. I also got a basic bike toolkit with a chain breaker because taking your chain off will make the installation easier. You'll probably need to do some tweaking once you have everything on and have ridden your bike a bit. I needed to retighten the main crank (motor mounting) nut, along with both crank arm bolts, which were creaking while I rode. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the kit and it makes biking a joyful experience again! I did have an issue with one of my break sensors malfunctioning and killing the power mid-ride one day which took me a bit to diagnose, but I did get things working again by simply unplugging the sensor, and the company quickly sent me a replacement without any hassle. My only complaint would be that the shift sensor I installed either does very little or just isn't working, because shifting under higher motor power sometimes seems very hard, but I've managed to use the left brake cut off lever as a workaround, which came naturally since it's just like using the clutch to shift on a motorcycle. If I order another one I may not bother getting a shift sensor for this reason. My mileage is good but I do think it's exaggerated by the manufacturer (no surprise there). Yesterday I rode 28 miles on a full charge mostly at a 1-2 power level (out of 9) on country roads. I had 17% remaining when I was done, however the power does seem to noticeably drop off once you get below 25-30%, so power level 3 is definitely weaker at 17% than it is at 100%. But again, I am very satisfied and you will be very happy with your bike if you add one of these kits to it! Happy trails. ... show more

  • Exceptional Customer Service! Exceptional Customer Service!
Purchased the 48V 1000W kid back in October to put on a Ozark Trail Fat Bike from Walmart. Needed the 120mm motor which was all good. Right after ordering the company contacted me saying there was a delay in their shipment of that specific size (120mm is kind of an oddball) but it would be shipped as soon as it came in. I received the package like one day longer than the original expected time and Lascycle kept me posted with updates and tracking numbers the whole time. Soon after it arrived, I installed everything on the bike which went very smooth, and took it for a test ride. About a mile in it had a weird hiccup and then a little while later it shut off for a few seconds before kicking in again. Back in the shop, i checked all the connections, speed sensor spacing, computer configuration, battery terminals, brake sensors, throttle, etc but everything looked good. Id had this happen on another bike before once or twice but it was only the first ride and probably a loose connection or something. I rode this bike a few more times and it kept happening, not often but every few miles. Sometime a blip of power cut and sometimes needing a complete reboot. The computer would read max MPH (99.8mph) when this happened. We put probably 30-40 miles on it and it kept happening. I began digging into the issue. Swapped batteries, swapped brake sensors, swapped speed sensor, swapped computer... I contacted Lascycle throughout the trouble shooting process and they always responded within a day or so. I would send them symptoms and they would send me things to check and try. At one point they sent me a new speed sensor to try, at no cost. It took quite a while but that was due to my work schedule not Lascycle, they were on top of my questions very quickly. Finally after a few weeks we decided the controller on the motor was possibly the issue. They offered to send a new controller but i requested the whole motor because i was not comfortable changing the controller myself. They obliged! They sent me a shipping label and once they received my original motor they promptly sent me a complete replacement at no cost to me!! I installed the new unit yesterday and took a couple mile test ride. So far so good! No issues everything worked perfect. This old issues would almost always happen in the first mile so should be in the clear. I would like to do some more testing but the temp is below 0F today and i really don't want to freeze my face off, ha. If you are looking to build an ebike, buy your kit from Lascycle! I have never had an Amazon seller be so responsive and helpful. It was amazing. We exchanged probably 20+ messages over about a month's time. When we couldn't find an easy solution, they sent a brand new motor without question! I will be using Lascycle for all my future builds. Customer service is second to none. ... show more

  • Marvelous little motor
After >2,000 miles, using the 750 and the 1,000, this is a tough review because of the many elements involved and must start by saying that these motors are a little marvel. It pushes well and responds very well to the cadence and push of your legs, for up to 8 hours in 1 and 2, while can run like a motorcycle in max (7 to 10) with no effort and drain the battery in 10 miles. I have crossed rivers up to 3 feet deep and opened the engine dry. Battery however failed with water and could not recover. Some connections with sensors may be lose or faulty and this is a mystery I haven’t solved so, will have to change cables to see if is the connection or the controller. ... show more

  • Drive system good, battery holder needs revision
I've bought these drive kits before and they are nice and straightforward to install, seem to work well. Have over 200 miles on it with no issues with the drive. However, the battery holder did not fit the bike. Several fit issues. Ended up buying another rack to fit the back of the bike and using parts from it to mount the battery holder securely. Battery mount should be made more Universal. ... show more

  • Shipped without battery or controller
Arrived without battery, and other items. Won't send updates on handling this problem. Seems like it would be pretty hard to misplace a nearly 20lb battery, it's the heaviest part of the whole setup.

  • Great Kit, Lackluster instructions. Great Kit, Lackluster instructions.
Mounted well to my Schwinn Badger. The installation of the kit itself was largely painless, but my bike was excessively rusty, so it took me a while. Pictures are from the last bit of the process, where I was waiting for a few extra parts not to do with the kit. Included tools were helpful, but more than a basic bike tool kit is required (as opposed to what the AI says). I would recommend getting a new chain as well, since it's unlikely your old chain will fit the new system. The Instructions link to a video that misses a few things, like how to install the shift sensor. There are plenty of other guides on YouTube that show the process, but I wish there were simple paper instructions. Battery life is very good, as is the motor. The battery has a USB-A port on it, and the screen I got (VD618) has a USB-C port on the bottom. I do recommend getting the rear rack battery style (assuming you can have a rear rack), as the down tube-mounted one barely fits in my frame. In addition, the brake light option has no way of mounting to your bike if you do not have a rear rack, so I had to get an extra bracket. The screen interface is a little clunky but easy to get used to. It allows you to change or remove speed limits and customize the pedal assist levels, as well as being able to control headlights and taillights. It uses the CAN Protocol, so I assume you can customize the experience and settings even more. The Kit comes with new crankshafts, so you may need to replace your pedals as well if they're not the right size. You can certainly feel the added weight when lifting or moving the bike, but it's almost imperceptible when rolling and riding with at least pedal assist 1. Overall, a great kit, but with some flaws in communication (missing info in listing, poor instructions, etc.). ... show more
