This is a great chain, but the plastic housing is evidently very cheaply made. That’s fine with me so I’m not taking any stars away for it because the price is sufficient. Just want to make it clear that this should not be your only choice of security because it is not made with the best plastic/material they could have chose and appears that it could be easily broken with a hammer. I just use it with a cover for my motorcycle and as a deterrent so it’s one more inconvenience for someone looking for an easy target. Lock is pretty hefty which might also by a downside for some people this thing is kinda heavy to carry around. I keep mine in my backpack so it doesn’t matter too much but I feel it’s presence. This lock works well but even the smallest one is quite heavy and bulky. Wanted a lock for my kids to take to school. They can use them but it is heavy for them to carry in the backpacks to and from. Otherwise, we are happy. Does what it is intended to do.

So this cheap lock is actually really well made, the fabric sleeve is thick and won't come out from the ends, the locking mechanism looks neat with whe dust cover, the locking and unlocking feeling is of a nice quality, and from the far it looks like a thick chain. Have in mind that a thin chain is better than a thick steel rope, check videos of how easy it is to cut a steel rope. However, this is a thin chain, it is useful for light use and to leave your bike unattended for short periods of time. We use it in Cape Cod in the summer, but when we go to Florida we carry our 8mm extra heavy chain that's 5 times the price of this one. So for the price 5 stars, but safety score is a 2, which is good, considering any lock you buy at the supermarket is a 1. Hope this was useful for you. ... show more
