  • DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ARE AN ENGINEER
Here is the deal, people. I have a 7 year old who is, like most 7 year olds, obsessed with the Titanic and legos. We have spent A LOT of money on Legos. And for the price, I actually thought this was a fairly decent buy for my daughter's BIG Christmas gift. I'm from the South and my mama told me that you should always do a compliment sandwich where you stick the negative in between two positive things. Here we go. It is beautiful and really cool. (Well, on the photos on Amazon- we haven't gotten it fully assembled yet, so I can't say for sure this is true in real life.). And it is now April. The pieces are well painted- or however they color Legos. Now, for the tea. This was so unbelievably difficult that I literally wanted to cry at several points. My boyfriend (and trust me, it's a miracle we are still together after attempting to assemble this as a couple) struggled ALL of Christmas Day with this beast. And still we could not get past the stern. IT continued to break apart. I think the designer of this set took legitimate advice from the real Titanic engineers in how to create a super faulty ship that would break apart easily. No lives were lost in the attempted assembly of this model, but that is only because we love the Lord and believe in forgiveness. WE FORGIVE the people that made the worst instruction booklet ever to exist in Asia. WE FORGIVE the Lego engineers behind Susengo. WE FORGIVE the person who had the audacity to write "Easy to assemble" on the box. But most importantly, we FORGIVE ourselves for purchasing this, for not having the intellectual quotient to complete it and for letting our child down. IF you are able to purchase this and complete it- I am sure you will be very happy with your achievement in life and have a beautiful model. IF this does occur, go ahead and join MENSA and begin mining for Bitcoin because YOU are going somewhere BIG. I think that sums it up. Ya'll be good, now ya hear? ... show more

  • the longer it takes him to build it the happier I am
I can't say enough about this fabulous building set. My seven-year-old son is obsessed with both Legos and the Titanic, and Lego doesn't make a Titanic. This set is incredible, especially considering the affordable price. Lego sets with 1000+ pieces typically cost over $100; this was a bargain at under forty bucks. Compatible - when my son couldn't find a piece, he simply went to his Lego bin and found a replacement. The only difference was that the bags were unnumbered, meaning he had to dump out every bag all at once and search for pieces which took a lot of time at first. But hey...as a mom...the longer it takes him to build it the happier I am. If I spend forty dollars on Lego, my son has the set built in under an hour. This one took a good six or so hours to build. We played the Titanic soundtrack in the background as he worked. The finished project looks spectacular...very detailed and high quality. I am just so thrilled with our purchase. ... show more

  • Awful in every aspect
This was awful! My husband and I love putting together Legos. This set was very flimsy, directions didn’t make sense, it was missing pieces. at a certain point I started making it up so that it would go together. Super glue maybe a solution for the pieces that won’t stay together. We had to make sure we heard a snap or the pieces wouldnt stay together. I would not recommend to anyone. We were so incredibly frustrated. ... show more

  • Piece of junk. Worst quality and instructions ever.
I’m going to start with traditional: I don’t write reviews often. More like - I never do. Okay. Where to begin? Instructions have faded colors and extremely hard to follow. If you expect your child to assemble this on your own - you definitely don't like your child and this actually a great punishment for misbehaving children. The quality of these bricks is terrible. They can’t even remotely compare to LEGO. Construction breaks easily. Very fragile during the assembly. (Just to be clear - I have assembled massive and complex LEGO sets in the past with no issues). While LEGO always associates with fun and satisfaction, SusenGo goes with frustration, rage and desire to identify the designer / manufacturer and do something really bad to them. Like force them to sit down and make them assemble this set on their own without any breaks for food or rest. This is a recipe to be admitted to the asylum. I have a suspicion that the ultimate goal of this set manufacturer Is to raise the rage and frustration levels for the buyers. ... show more

  • Easy Peezy, just take your time and work in chunks.
Not sure about the "Lego families" that had a hard time with this. My 9 year old built it in 2 weeks by himself spending just a half hour or so a day (with some skipped days). If you follow directions and have built other lego vehicles before you'll be just fine.

  • but are not numbered like Lego bags according to steps
My 8 year old is fascinated with the Titanic at the moment. He used his Amazon Christmas gift card to purchase this as he loves Legos also. We knew it wasn't an official Lego product but got it anyway. Decent directions, but kinda hard to see where each piece goes in the pictures. Parts are divided into several bags, but are not numbered like Lego bags according to steps. Basically we had to open every bag to get through the first few steps. I would recommend having a tube of kragle (Lego movie lingo) handy since some of the parts didn't want to stay together while building. Overall when it was completed its a nice model for the price. Decent size and detail. My son has it prominently displayed on his Lego table among his other models. ... show more

My 9 year old son loves it!

  • AND it looks fantastic! Note
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old grand son who is in the middle of a Titanic obsession. He loves it! My only complaint is the instructions were not quite clear and the pieces (1000+) were all mixed up in a multitude of small packages. You literally had to comb thru each bag to find all the pieces for the part you were working on. That made it take even longer to assemble. However, once assembled he loves it and it has a prominent place in his bedroom. AND it looks fantastic! Note: it does come with little figures of Jack and Rose. I wish that instead it had come with a figure of the Captain. ... show more
