A Tiny Tech Marvel - Fun, Novel, and Educational
Style: Clear
I recently got my hands on the TinyCircuits Thumby, and it's been an absolute delight. Despite its minuscule size, the build quality is impressive. It feels sturdy enough to hang on a keychain without worries about damage. The real charm of the Thumby lies in its novelty. The games are fun, and playing on such a small device adds a unique twist to the experience. While the controls can be a bit challenging for those with larger hands, it's a minor trade-off for its compactness. One of the Thumby's standout features is its programmability. The TinyCircuits site offers an easy-to-use platform for downloading a variety of user-created games, making it a versatile device for gaming enthusiasts. The screen quality is surprisingly good for such a tiny gadget. Text is clear and readable, and the display responds well during gameplay. I've used it for about an hour at a time, and the battery life has been more than adequate, though I haven't pushed it to its full limit. Overall, I'd definitely recommend the Thumby. It's not just a novelty item; it's a conversation starter and a great way to spark interest in coding. Whether you're a gaming enthusiast, a collector of unique gadgets, or looking to introduce someone to the world of coding, the Thumby is a fantastic choice.

Great novelty item
Style: Clear
Love it! Such a novelty item. I rarely use it honestly, but fun to have as a Keychain, but you are thinking you will play it long it's probably too small for that, just good to have as a novelty item and price is nice

This thing is adorable!

If you love tiny things, computer programming, and the original Game Boy, this is the toy for you! I bought one for myself, for my birthday, and I am impressed. (I also recommend picking up a pair of highly magnifying reading glasses, by the way.) I went immediately to the website and downloaded a bunch more tiny games onto the Thumby, which was click-button easy. The tiny games are playable and the screen is quite bright and crisp. The only downsides are: 1. It doesn't come with a data cable, and not every micro USB cable allows data transfer, so I had to try a couple of cables I had on hand before finding one which let me link to the Thumby website via my Windows computer. 2. It doesn't come with a "keychain" -- it's a cord to a jewelry-sized lobster claw clasp. Don't expect it to work as a durable keychain, though it can be hooked onto a carabiner or such if you really want to put it with keys. 3. Needs magnification to be readily visible to my eyes, but then I'm getting on in years and my eyes aren't as good as they used to be. Everything else about this little gadget is wonderful! You don't need to be a computer programmer to enjoy it, though the FAQ on their website is useful no matter your level of experience. Makes a great gift for anyone who loves miniature gadgets.

Cute gimmick.
Style: Clear
Brings a smile to the face of everyone who sees it. The novelty wears off fast, but it's a great conversation starter and gag gift. It works surprisingly well but the size wears on you pretty quickly.

Easier then it looks
Style: Clear
Love the strong case and honesty it’s not that hard to play even with its size. I went to the site and had trouble connecting, but it detected that I was having trouble and gave me the right instructions to connect, also even though it has small storage, this boy can store at least 20 games, oh and did I mention you have a MASSIVE selection of FREE games? Man this thing is definitely worth it. Also another thing, this thing has a really nice battery life as advertised. As for sound quality, it’s pretty decent for such a small device, this thing is literally the size of your thumb. (Hence the name) Thank you for reading. :-)

This thing is stupid, impractical, and I love it!
Style: Clear
I hope you have fingernails and good eyesight, because you'll need it with this thing! I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure this could fit inside a pill holder. There's a decent community for it on the official Discord, and you can make your own games for it using MicroPython or Blockly, which uses easy to understand blocks which interconnect and represent Python code for those who aren't used to coding, like me. I know what you're thinking. Can it run Doom? Well, not quite, but it does have a demake of Doom, which still uses a raycasting engine called Thoom (Thumby+Doom). I think I read somewhere that it can run C/C++ code as well, and if you're truly a coding god, I'm sure you could execute assembly code. I've seen people get Doom running on a 2 Mhz system, far below the original's system requirements, so I'd say it's totally possible to run Doom on this thing. The only drawbacks are the 0.47" 72x40 pixel screen and the very very quiet piezo beeper it uses to output sound. But it can run at up to 133 MHz and has 264k of RAM. If you're interested in coding, simple 2-button gaming, or just totally impractical bite-sized game consoles, and $27-30 to spend depending on color, you're going to want to pick one of these up.

Pocket-Sized Entertainment and Icebreaker
Style: Clear
Alright, this tiny game console? It’s a whole load of fun packed into a tiny package. Look, you’re not gonna be breaking any high scores on this thing—playing the games? Tough as nails. But that’s not the point. It’s a total conversation starter. Whenever I’m stuck in line or waiting around, this little gadget’s my go-to. People are always like, “Whoa, what’s that?” And when they find out it’s an actual working mini-game console, their minds are blown. Sure, mastering these mini-games is a whole different ball game. It’s more about the challenge than the actual gameplay. But trust me, the reactions you get when people realize it’s legit and not just a cutesy keychain? Priceless. So, if you’re down for some tiny, quirky fun that’s bound to turn heads and spark some conversations, this little game console’s your buddy.

Left it in the pocket during full washing machine cycle and it survived perfectly
Style: Clear
I accidentally put this this magnificent little piece of hardware through a full wash cycle and fully assumed it was done for, only to find out it still works perfectly! Truly astounding and deserves a 5 star review just for that.
