  • Typical Timex
Color: Black/Black/Brown
Just love this watch. It’s a little larger dial than the “typical” 38mm,which is what I was looking for. Works perfectly. Keeps decently accurate time, solid built metal case and glass crystal. Leather strap not too stiff so break in is not really a concern. I like Timex best for reliability, features and price. Plus it’s easy to change readily available batteries (which last about 1-2 years). Getting lots of compliments on it. One small oddity, what should be the second hand is actually a tachometer/chronograph function. The second hand is actually a smaller dial near the 6 o’clock position. Seems odd especially if you’ve never owned a hand sweep chronograph watch. Not a big deal just need to retrain your brain for the second hand. Timex has been my go to watch for years now and I’ve never had an issue with them except the occasional band or battery replacement. I wear them to work and am NOT easy on them at all. They just work. In my opinion, they are a great value. Moderate watches typically cost well over $100, Timex’s core watches are about 1/2 that price usually. Although the company has ventured into the upscale watch arena a few years ago and are also value packed and very good looking, some costing as much as $1000! For my daily driver kind of budget, I’ll stick with their core line basic watches thanks ... show more

  • Solid timepiece from Timex Solid timepiece from Timex
Color: Black/Black/Brown
Style: T49905 - blk/blk/brown leather band Easy to read, watch face is well laid out and I like the contrast of the numbers against the background. It's been a while since I had a watch with Indiglo so it was nice to see that again. However, with the white hands, it's a little tough to read in the dark when the backlight is on, though it does have glow in the dark hands. Watch has a heavy, quality feel to it. Well constructed, like it may take a knock or two. Much beefier than any of the previous Timex watches I've owned. I was concerned about the crown size and it hitting the back of my hand in certain positions but it seems to be fine. I feel it but it's not nearly as prominent as I thought. If you have bad eyes like me, it may be tough to read without glasses on. The band fits well after oiling the leather --- cuts down drastically on break-in time. It always seems like I'm right in between two of the settings so oiling will help the band stretch a little in the tighter position. The color is pretty light fresh out of the box and the thread contrast is pretty retro. I found that oiling it also helped sort of detune that a little bit. I'm always one of those types that has to mod something the second I take it out of the box or it just isn't going to work. Oiling the leather band was the trick. I was on the fence and considering ordering a different one until I took a few minutes and hand rubbed some leather oil in to get it much darker and more pliable. Super comfortable. And thick, too. Seems like it will hold on for a few years. I bought a "used" one for a slightly discounted price -- in this economy, ffs!? Arrived just fine, intact, no signs of having been worn, just out of its original box and returned. Arrived in a factory box on factory wrist holder for the band, instructions were included, and arrived with a fresh battery installed -- just need to remove the tab to engage time and start the watch. Also, register the lifetime warranty. You'll likely never need to anything other than change the battery but if you ever do, they'll fix it for free. Also, I am not affiliated with Timex in any way. I'm just hopped up on the watch I just got and feel like writing a nice review about it. Highly recommended watch and happy to replace that $60 smartwatch. I was ready to get back to a real time piece. Nice choice! ... show more

  • Nice Watch... But Buyer Beware! Nice Watch... But Buyer Beware!
Color: Black/Black/Black
This is a great looking and very functional watch for the price, so I was very disappointed to find it didn't work properly. Close examination revealed a tiny plastic collar preventing the crown from being fully depressed as necessary. I'm aware most new watches come with a small plastic tab that must be removed to activate the watch: this was not that. Those tabs are designed to be easily removed with one's fingertips. This collar (shown in the photo) was barely accessible due to the crown, and could not be removed even with fine-tipped watch repair tools. I contacted Timex customer support and sent them the photo. They evaded my question as to what the collar was and why it was there, but confirmed it needed to be removed for the watch to function, suggesting I bring it to a jeweler/watch repair shop. Well, the watch isn't such a bargain anymore if I've got to pay someone to get it to work -- so I returned it and requested a replacement. Wouldn't you know it? The replacement had the same stupid plastic collar preventing it from working. This time I decided to see if I could fix it myself. I removed the case back with a pry knife, removed the plastic battery cover, used a pin-punch to release the watch stem, and fully removed the stem from the case, finally freeing the offending plastic collar. Pretty straightforward if you have the tools. Reassembly was trickier, as two miniscule push bars fell out when the plastic battery cover was removed. These allow the chronograph pushbuttons to activate the stopwatch. They're smaller than a grain of rice and sit loosely within tiny channels in the battery cover, so they are very prone to falling out as the cover is put back in place. It took several attempts to get the battery cover situated with them still seated. Then it was just a matter of carefully placing the watch in a case press to snap the case back in place. Once reassembled, the watch worked fine. I replaced the rubber strap with a NATO strap, and it's now a favorite daily beater watch. I'm astounded no other reviewers seem to have encountered this issue when I encountered it TWICE, but I've detailed it here in case others run into the same problem. Disassembling the watch to remove the troublesome plastic collar isn't that big a deal if you have watch repair tools and steady hands -- but if that's not you, you might have to decide whether it's worth paying a jeweler to repair your brand new watch. ... show more

  • Highly recommended for a first-time buyer!
Color: Black/Black/Black
As a newcomer to the world of watch collecting, I wanted my first serious piece to be something reliable, functional, and stylish. After spending some time with the Timex Expedition Field Chronograph, I can safely say it exceeded my expectations. Design and Build Quality The first thing that caught my eye was the color palette. The earthy, rugged tones give it a great "field watch" look that works for both daily wear and outdoor adventures. Despite its 43mm size, the weight feels substantial without being overbearing. The finish is impressive for this price point; it feels incredibly durable and well-built, like it can actually handle the "Expedition" name. Readability and Function I was initially a bit worried that the chronograph sub-dials might make the face look cluttered, but I found it surprisingly easy to read. Once you get used to the layout, tracking the time at a glance is a breeze. The "Killer Feature": INDIGLO The standout feature is definitely the INDIGLO backlight. It is, quite simply, excellent. It makes reading the time in low-light or total darkness effortless. It’s one of those features you don’t realize how much you need until you have it. Final Verdict For anyone just starting their collection, this watch offers a perfect blend of style and utility. It feels like a tool that is built to last, and I’m really happy with how it looks on the wrist. Highly recommended for a first-time buyer! ... show more

  • Uncompromising Quality at Every Price Point
I really like this watch. The case and back are made of steel and it is substantial. The glass is very hard and clear. The writing on the face is subtly three dimensional (it’s not just printed on the surface). Even the three circles on the face have very precise, slightly raised concentric circles. It’s a little hard to see the black hour and minute hand agains the military green watch face in low light. But it is also what makes this watch aesthetically unique. I am a little confused as to why the second hand is bright yellow, but the hour and minute hand are not outlined in yellow. If you are in sunlight, it’s easy to read the time. I got the version with the rubber band. I like that a lot too. Soft, substantial, pliable. Very comfortable. Timex is consistently high quality for each price point (ranging from $20 resin cases to $2,000 titanium). If you pay more, the materials and details match that price. But, the quality is always uncompromising. And their watches are both simple and aesthetically pleasing. ... show more

  • Garbage Tier watch.
Color: Black/Black/Black
Garbage tier watch with a name attached. This is a beautiful Chinese made case with a nice strap ar an attractive price. Don't be deceived. I bought this and another Timex piece and they lose time to the tune of 12 minutes a week. I swapped the battery out and this thing was off again. Same with the other Timex. I will never be buying a simple quartz movement from Timex or Amazon again. Because it takes a while to notice a watch is off the narrow return policy will not help you. Save your money and buy from a more reputable source and a better brand. These Timex' are abominable. The feature set is great, a stylish quartz with Chronograph down to the 0.02 second? Red hands on Black with indigo luminescent face? Whats not to love? Oh yeah, being 12 minutes late to work because you bought what I could only pray was a pirated, fake movement from a schiester. I had a 7 dollar Timex IronMan when I was in high-school that lasted like 10 years without so much as a battery exchange back in the day. Never lost so much as an hour over its lifetime. For shame on Timex, Amazon and whoever hosted the listing. ... show more

  • Highly Satisfied! Love It!
Color: Black/Black/Brown
I started off with the Timex Weekender. I love that watch, and the simplicity of that watch. However, that thing was LOUD. I'd have to shove my wrist under the pillow at night to block out the ticking. The ticking became more and more irritating so I began to search for a new watch and landed on this one. I have a Fossil watch and some other nice watches and I really like this one the best. The indiglo is awesome. That's one of my main reasons for staying with Timex after the whole Weekender debacle -I hated to lose the functionality of the indiglo. Just a few things worth noting, but otherwise this is a great watch if you're considering it: 1. The second hand is located in the bottom middle of the chronograph. It's tricky at first, because the large hand that looks like it would be for the second hand is actually for the timer. There's nothing wrong with the watch, it's just an adjustment that you have to get used to. I don't use the second hand on any watch for that many things, so it wasn't a big deal to me. However if you're someone who uses the second hand a lot, then you might want to take that into consideration. 2. When I ordered this watch I was worried that I'd have trouble reading it at a glance because the numbers don't go from 1-12. I thought I might have to look at it longer than just a glance in order to read the time, but this hasn't been an issue either. I don't have any issues reading it day or night. The hands glow really well and seem to retain their brightness pretty well. The hour and minute hands are the only ones that glow - the chronograph hands and second hands to not glow. 3. I've had this watch just a day over two months and the leather band is wearing pretty well. The leather loops that guide and hold the excess watch band after you put it on are looking somewhat stressed. I'm not sure they'll last much longer with daily wear. This isn't a deal breaker though because one can always get a new band for it. 4. The back of the watch doesn't have any screws - it's a screw on type that is found on nicer watches. I have a Fossil watch with a similar back and I needed a new battery. Long story short, Walmart and Macy's were unable to change the battery due to the type of back. I ended up having to go to a jewler and $25 later, I had a new battery and they gave it a complete overhaul. It looks good, but $25 for a new battery was sort of steep. Keep that in mind as you look at watches if you're not wild about getting them serviced like that. All in all, I love this thing. I get several compliments on it, and find it easy to read. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Did not arrive in original packaging, though I do like the watch.
Color: Black/Black/Brown
The watch is great, I love it. I've had it for a week now and it's comfortable, functional, and stylish. However, I'm giving it only 3 stars because of how I received it. It was delivered in a ziplock sleeve with the warranty sheet stuffed in a bubble wrap package. I bought what was described as a new product, but it did not come in the original package, nor owners manual. I had to find the manual from the manufacturer's website in order to set the dang thing!! It begs the question... Did I really receive a genuine Timex timepiece? Either way, so far I'm happy with the product with the exception that the second hand on the stop watch sits about half a click left of noon. I have not yet tested the water resistance, which I'm a little apprehensive about since there seemed to be some sort of light colored lubricant or seal around the crown. I'll have to try it before my time frame for returns has passed. All in all, I would buy it again, just not from amazon fulfillment! UPDATE: I haven't worn the watch in over a year because the crown used to set the time has popped off. Spent no small amount of time trying to find a replacement, but I can't find good measurements for it. Would have to have access to an assortment and go by trial and error.... I guess it still deserves 3 stars? ... show more
