Very nice watch. I like the mineral glass - much better than the plastic ones on other cheaper watches. The 40mm size is nice for my wrist. The leather band is comfortable and good quality. I like the larger numbers and how well the indiglo lights up the watch face in the dark. In the week that I've had it, it has kept time well. The one negative would be the case comes up and over the glass creating a "lip" or exposed edge that I'm not impressed with. I see that as a place for dust/dirt/smudges to accumulate. ... show more

Great looking watch. The watch case fits nicely around my wrist, not standing proud like some automatic watches. This is a beater watch for me and the 100m water resistance is perfect. I may get a black with orange silicone strap to give it an additional sporty look. My second timex expedition the last one had the white face and last around 13 years. Hopefully this has a similar longevity. Would definitely recommend this watch as it hugs the wrist nicely with no gaps between the wrist and watch case. And the 100m we makes it a versatile watch. ... show more

Great looking watch for the price. The blue dial and brown leather strap look even better in person, and it’s very comfortable to wear. One thing to note is that the watch wears smaller than it looks in the listing photos. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something to keep in mind. My only real complaint is the packaging. The box arrived pretty beat up, and the plastic holder inside was broken as well. Definitely looked like it was handled rough during shipping. Understated and rugged. Not too big, 40 mm is perfect. Replaces one I had for over 20 yrs. The metal ring around the mineral case actually protects it more than you realize as it is higher than 'dress' watches. Although I was hoping for this Timex to include it's Indiglo feature... I'm still giving this (5) stars ... Because, the luminous hands & numbers stayed quite reasonably lit & glowing after (8) hours of resting in the dark without any other light source...(I couldn't believe it) Truly Awesome Indeed !!! & it's a Timex..."Takes a lickin' & keeps on tickin' " I definitely, highly recommend this Timex watch... The watch is modestly sized at 40mm in diameter, 47mm lug-to-lug and 10mm thick. It suited my skinny wrists quite well. At 57mm across the top of my wrists, the watch sits nicely with no lug overhang. The watch wears a little larger - mostly due to the thin bezel which shows greater dial area. The only issue for me is the excess band length. The case is spec'ed as brushed, but it's not brushed to the point where the finish is matte. It still has some levels of shine to it. However, it's less shine than a polished finish. On a scale of 1 thru 10, with 10 being the most polished and shiniest finish and 1 being the most dull matte finish, I'd rate this right around 7. The dial is a nice, simple, easy-to-read face. With large-font, light-colored numbers against the almost black face, reading the time only requires a quick glance. The color of the dial face isn't quite fully black. It's almost like a chalkboard color, maybe even perhaps a dark gray slate. It acts as a great contrasting background to the numbers. However, I did have some concerns on how this would impact the performance of the Indiglo (more on that later). What drew me to this watch was the 24 hour number placement. Unlike other military watches, Timex placed the 24 hour numbers around the outer chapter ring. Other watch designs will place the numbers in a smaller font on the face adjacent to the normal numbers. Using the chapter ring instead really cleans up face, yet still allows for quick reference when needed. The numbers, minute/hour hands and a small spot of the seconds hand are all lumed. Despite a good charge, the lume doesn't last very long. You'd be lucky if you could have it last for more than 30 minutes. The poor lume performance is pretty inconsequential as the Indiglo worked just fine...even with the dark face. The glow is even and consistent. It's bright enough to read but not so much that it'd be distracting to your movie seat neighbor. There has been some talk in regards to the crown. Compared to other modestly sized watches, the crown does seem to protrude out proportionally further than most in the same size segment. And, if you wear this watch closer to your hand, it can be an impedance. For me, it's no issue. I do like the fact that the crown guards are part of the case and that the crown itself is knurled for grip. The crown area does have some small interesting details. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. It's the closest that I can get to a Hamilton with quartz reliability and accuracy. And, it didn't put a big dent in my wallet. I like this watch. Nice appearance, nice fit. The color of the dial is slightly different than in the picture though. It appears black in the pictures, but is a shade of gray on the watch. A bit misleading, but I don’t mind. The strap is a tad on the small size. I have a 7 3/4 inches wrist and I wear it on the second to last hole on the strap for a slightly snug fit and on the very last hole for a looser fit. I would prefer If the strap’s holes were more numerous or closer together for a finer adjustability, but it works well enough. The glow feature is nice. It’s a soft blue-green glow so it doesn’t produce light outside of the watch, but plenty enough to see in complete darkness. One thing that does bug me is that the glow doesn’t illuminate the date. You can’t read the date in the dark, with or without the glow. The strap has nice rounded leather edges for comfort and cloth in the center for a quality look. The stainless steel case is polished well and has a good finish. It keeps time well so far. My only complaint is that the second hand is a bit sloppy. It doesn’t land squarely on the second notches for the second half of the minute, but it doesn’t affect the time. Overall, I am pleased and it’s worth the price. I will update this review if I run into any malfunctions or complaints in the future. ... show more
