  • A fantastic watch for men and women, too--and here's why!
Color: Two-Tone
Although this is billed as a men's watch, I'm female and have been wearing this watch for years. When one finally gives out or I break it, I order another one. Here's why: 1) Great looking. It looks good with almost everything on everybody, and fares equally well with casual up through moderately dressy. 2) Expansion band. Easy to slip on, but doesn't slip once it's on. One size fits most. 3) Water resistant, almost waterproof but not 100%. I actually used to swim 3X/week with this watch (not the one I have now, but a couple watches back, but this exact model), and it did great. After a couple years, it did start showing moisture under the crystal--so it's not entirely impervious to water. But if you take it in the shower or pool or get caught in a downpour, it's going to be fine. 4) Large face. I like how it looks (see #1 above), and it's also highly functional. Some of the procedures I do require timing, and this watch makes it easy both with the large face and numerals, as well as the sweep second hand. 5) Mix of gold & silver. Yeah, here's the girlie part. I wear both gold and silver jewelry, and like that this has both. That's all folks! ... show more

  • Good size, understated look, easy to read in low or no light
Color: Silver-Tone
It's become increasingly more difficult to find a decent and affordable ANALOG men's watch in stainless steel and with a white/cream face (I don't like the blue, gray, black, copper or rose gold watch faces), a metal expansion band and a simple date function - no chronograph, no tachymeter, no leather band, no nylon strap or thick resin band, no super-size case that makes the watch look more like a drink coaster strapped onto a wrist. Kudos to TIMEX for maintaining the tradition many of us old timers grew up with. There is something about analog that, for me at my age, is much more useful. That's mostly because it's what I learned to tell time with way back when and grew up accustomed to seeing and mentally interpreting. One quick glance at the two analog hands immediately tells me if I'm running late, on time or early. And, there's no need for me to pause, think a bit and then translate the precise digital time into the more colloquial expression as when someone politely asks "What time is it?" Like many men, I have more than a few watches including inexpensive digital watches with a litany of additional functions, a resin strap or nylon Velcro band and a built-in light. Those are great for rough work around the house, in the workshop, fishing or just knocking around. However, not every occasion calls for one of my nicer and more expensive quartz analog watches either and so for simple casual wear in the evenings I prefer the clean and uncluttered analog face this TIMEX watch offers. Nothing to distract away from its primary purpose. It's sized just right for me both in the case diameter and the band width (18mm). It's fairly thin and it's easy to read, especially in low light situations. The expansion band is more utilitarian than it is stylish but it's probably as good as any you'll find in this price range. Naturally, a watch like this is not intended for harsh use in sports, in wet or rugged environments or in outdoor recreational endeavors other than maybe at backyard barbecue party sans the pool. I would suspect that the crystal will mar fairly easily if it is bumped or rubbed up against solid objects. The one big drawback to this model TIMEX IMO is the initial setting of the date. There is no two-pull function to the crown, i.e. midway for date, full for time. You have to pull the crown out fully and wind forward past 1:00 to click one day ahead, then back before 8:30 to engage the mechanism so that as you wind forward again past 1:00 the date will advance one. When I received the watch it was 26 days off and so after visiting the company's website and looking at the watch's manual online to be sure, my only recourse on this model was to do this tedious machination 26 times. So, there was a lot of winding forward and backward to get the date correct. ... show more

  • Terrific value in a watch that just tells you what time it is
Color: Two-Tone
I've owned two of these watches. Each has lasted about 3 years before getting so scratched up that I replaced it. I've worn them all day every day with few exceptions. I change the time twice a year (when beginning and ending DST) and they have kept time perfectly in between. I have never changed the battery. I've had the bands shortened slightly at a Walmart jewelry counter - takes less than a minute, a courtesy they're glad to perform. My watches have taken a lot of the usual day-to-day punishment with remarkable durability. The black-on-white face, unsexy though it surely is, can be easily read at a glance, including in low light. It's amazing that such a simple, quality product is still available. ... show more

  • Easy to read, with old eyes.
Color: Two-Tone
I have always worn a dainty watch, but as I get older (81), and have macular degeneration, that's no longer an option. I got tired of people asking me what time it was, and I had to show them my watch, so they could read it. So I decided to try this Timex Easy Reader Watch, and it is wonderful. I got the two-tone so it goes with my jewelry, although it has more gold color than silver. The curve if the band makes it look like a gold bracelet when you wear it turned around. The dial is really big, with a white background, black hands, and real numbers, instead of dots, or roaman numerals. As for size, I have small wrists, but I like to wear my watch about 1-1 1/2 inches behind my wrist, and turned around so the dial is on the underside of my arm. This watch fits perfectly, it doesn't pinch, stays in place, and looks like an expensive piece of jewelry. It is big, but beautiful. I would highly recommend. ... show more

  • Not made for a Man's wrist
Color: Two-Tone
The package arrived and the box had obviously been opened and poorly reclosed. The watch LOOKS very small. It does not look like a man's watch. This watch, frankly, looks ridiculous. I have bought many watches and have never had a problem with my wrist being too big. In fact. I often have to remove links from expansion bands. This watch and band might be suitable for a young boy or a slender teenager but it does not fit my apparently normal sized wrist. ... show more
