Product is great. However, I wish I had put the niche at 16-inch high instead of 14in high. Once tile and stone is in you lose height. Some bottles don’t fit very well. Thankfully I have other shelves!

Just remodeled my bathroom & installed this in my shower !! If you plan on having a niche in your shower for soap, shampoo bottles etc. Then this is the product to use. They come in many shapes sizes. They are super easy to install and are waterproof and you just tile right to the material that’s it’s made out of. I was going to make a niche with cement board but I became skeptical that water could sit on the shelves and possibly leak thru the grouting over time and get thru to the cement board. With these niche’s that can’t possibly happen there water proof. And it looks great in the shower after it’s tiled. ... show more

When I remodeled my shower, I wanted a recessed shelf that was tall enough for shampoo bottles but also had a shelf that I could store soap dishes. This shelf met both those needs. I'm giving this review 3 Buys, which means if you're in the market for a built-in soap dish and shampoo holder for your shower, this is a must. You simply cannot hire someone to construct one for less money (or do it yourself faster) and get 100% assurance of a water-tight seal. This niche is a breeze to install, very durable and as I said, water-tight. It's easy to tile and is already pitched forward so that any water that does happen to enter the niche, runs out in to your shower. This is a must for any new or remodeled tile shower/bath. I'll never make my own again. btw: I contacted manufacturer before ordering and they were very helpful on understanding what thinset to use (any high quality thinset works), how to easily install, etc. Also, want to save on a tile shower base/pan? They sell Redi Bases/Pans as well. It's essentially a durable plastic shower pan which is 100% water-tight as well once connected to the drain. Simply tile over the base. Next shower pan I do, I'll be going with a Redi product. I wish this technology had been around 20 years ago. ... show more

    • Saved me tons of time
I'm no stranger to doing basic tile. I started reading online about doing a shower box, and all the measurements, cutting the sides, installing a membrane to seal it up, etc.. Then I found a reference to one of these. For $50, it saved me a whole day of work that would have been involved creating a box from scratch. This was easy to install, and perfectly flush with the Hardibacker. It is very rigid. You can hardly bend it at all, which is a good base for tile. Easy to install with a few screws in the studs. The instructions call for putting in a horizontal 2x4 section above and below it, but frankly this thing is so rigid and 3 screws on each side and this thing won't budge. I didn't bother with the extra support. I just used mesh tape and thinset to seal the gap between it and the Hardibacker and was ready to go. I strongly recommend this for anyone wanting to put in a shower niche. And the thinset for the tile sticks to it as well as it does to Hardibacker. ... show more

Exactly the right side for the shower! We ordered 2 for the master and installed one upside down under the other. More than enough room for bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. The small niche is the perfect size for bar soaps and razors. Easy to install. We used tile trim when installing the tile too. Perfect. So much easier than fabricating your own. We liked the two for the master so much that we also ordered one for the guest bath. We are installing that one with the small niche on top of the large niche. Easy breezy. LOVE! ... show more
