This device is lovely to use. It does its job amazingly, comes beautifully packaged with some extras and all and just opening the box in front of your guests, makes you look more like a pro lol. It felt sturdy and it seemed like it'd be the most long lasting smoker I've owned... ...I was wrong. I ensured that I read the manual for this one, because I didn't want this one to break too. I NEVER once lit it with my blowtorch. I've never used it for more than 30-40 seconds at a time. I always let it cool down before I repackage it. I did all the manual suggested and it still broke within 2 months :( ... show more

This is a nice little smoker for craft cocktails or to add a smokey flavor to different foods. The unit requires batteries, which isn’t a huge deal, but you have to have a screwdriver on hand to install the batteries. Again, not that big of a deal, but it is kind of a pain, in my opinion. Also, as someone else mentioned, you either need a butane torch or lighter to get the wood chips lit. It does say that in the description, but I do agree that if you want to give this as a gift it is a little inconvenient not to have some sort of lighter or torch added to the set. That being said, the set is nice and comes in a nice box, so it would work well as a gift. Otherwise, with a little trial and error it’s a pretty good smoker. You can adjust the fan to adjust how much smoke it produces. I read that it is actually a better smoking experience if you have a smoker unit that contains the chips and uses a hose to impart the smoke like this set, rather than just putting a contraption over the glass, lighting the chips, and smoking them directly over the glass like other sets. I could definitely taste the smokey flavor in the whiskey when I have used it. The chips it comes with have been easy to light, and I have enjoyed the flavors it imparts into my whiskey. I would definitely recommend the set. And by the way, women like whiskey too, so it’s a good little set for either men or women. ... show more

Smoked cocktails and smoke filled bubbles on top of cocktails are all the rage at our local bars and restaurants right now. Adding a bit of smoke to whiskey, a Manhattan, or an Old Fashioned is truly a wonderful way to enhance a drink. I wanted a way to do this at home, without paying the $20 a drink that is charged our bars, and decided this would be fun for our holiday gatherings. This smoker comes in a gift-worthy black box but needs batteries and a butane torch in order to use. Something to think about purchasing alongside this item if you don’t already have them handy. When starting out, I would recommend using your lower end whiskey to experiment with your smoke-to-glass ratio. If you add too much smoke for too long, you end up with a burnt taste. I chose the gun and tube model over the cocktail smokers that sit on top of a glass because I wanted to also try smoking cheese, fish, desserts, etc. and this can easily be accomplished using lids, foil, food wraps, etc. or, if you really want to commit, you could always purchase a glass smoking dome. Overall, I am extremely happy and look forward to making drinks for friends and family into the New Year. ... show more

This is a nice little smoker! I'm still getting used to the art of creating smoked drinks, so I had a lot "burnt" smoke taste. This device did produce a lot of smoke though, so definitely recommend using it outside, or in a well ventilated area. I have a bar in my garage, so I just opened the garage door to vent. The device has a fan speed knob on the back. The higher the setting the more smoke produced. When the setting in on full speed, it appears to make the wood chips burn hotter/faster which created the burnt taste for me. This will take me a few more tries to perfect it, but all in all, this is a great device! ... show more

The unit itself is very well built. It's lightweight, quiet and works extremely well. Oh comes with 2 metal "bowls" or "baskets" for the smoke medium, which are removable and washable. The wood chips the kit come with are nice and dry and light up very easily. It really doesn't need more than a pinch to completely smoke multiple dinner plate sized items. It's almost overkill for drinks, but really adds a nice twist to fall favorites! The only thing that would make this kit any better would be if it included in internal flame source or its own butane lighter. ... show more
