    • Shockingly good for a third-party PS4 controller
I'll preface my review by stating I've never used this controller with an actual PlayStation 4. I use it exclusively for PC gaming, so if you're wondering how well it works with the intended console, you'll want to look to other reviewers who can speak to that experience. I prefer the symmetrical, centrally-placed analog sticks of PlayStation controllers to the off-center Xbox-style design that places the D-pad between the sticks, so for years, I've used DualShock 3s and 4s as my PC gaming controllers. Lately, however, I've decided that the official controllers are too expensive for their brief lifespans (I pray for Hall effect sticks to become the standard over ALPS), and decided to try out this cheapie. I've had mixed experiences with third-party PlayStation controllers in the past, with most being decidedly subpar, but this one is shockingly good. Buttons feel good, L1/2 and R1/2 feel good, and even the L3 and R3 functionality (pressing in on the sticks as an additional button), which many controllers struggle to make comfortably and responsively, feels good. Vibration and trackpad work as expected. I haven't played anything with Sixaxis controls on this thing, so I can't comment on that. There are a few issues. The tops of the analog sticks are VERY concave, which feels weird when you're accustomed to the rounder DualShock caps. For me, it felt a little rougher on the thumbs with extended play. The battery life is decidedly inferior to the real deal; I normally play wired so I don't really care about battery life, but you might! Finally, and this is a really minor thing, whatever ink or paint the manufacturer used to label the buttons doesn't hold up. It's wearing off fast, like the lettering on some cheap keyboards. If you're a veteran of Playstation controls, you know where your triangle, circle, square and X live and blank buttons aren't going to slow you down, but it may annoy the less familiar or those who find it aesthetically disagreeable. It's interesting that the product picture shows blank buttons to begin with, whereas my controller came with labeled buttons but they're rapidly GOING blank! Aside from the minor stick and button-label quibbles, and the potentially larger issue of battery life if you're going wireless, though, this thing is VERY close to proper DualShock 4 performance at a much more palatable price... at least as far as PC gaming with DS4Windows, mostly via Steam, is concerned. My husband loved it. It looks just like the picture. It just stopped working out of no where though, but when it did work he said the controls only had to be lightly touched and was easy to use. He likes it so much he’s willing to get it fixed.

My grandson loves this controller. Of course they are not made as good as a real pS4 one. However it does work well. It does not have drift like some of the other ones we have purchased. My grandson is 6. He is rough on controllers and headphones at times. I would definitely recommend and would purchyagain. ... show more

This controller is good, plug and play even. No need to switch from x-input to Ds4 mode like other version. Trackpad button works too! USB-C port is big upgrade versus old micro USB that break easy. USB-C port also very durable and cable doesn't wobble and is very nice and sturdy. I enjoy this. Thank you for making a good controller, and not a stupid piece of garbage that doesn't have a working trackpad button. You guys rock and are possibly heroes even. ... show more

I bought this after reading enough good or decent reviews, I thought I could save money since my youngest son goes through controllers often. The first one broke, they quickly replaced it. The replacement broke the next day, before I could even return the first one. Overall not worth it for me, but might be worth it for someone else. ... show more

This controller was so cool looking and my son absolutely loved it but within a month it just all of a sudden stopped working it didn't want to charge no more it didn't want to work no more nothing so yeah and my son takes very very very good care of his stuff he's just the top of kid who loves his PlayStation and loves his stuff so much that he takes good care of it and he has controllers that he's had for years that still work so we don't know what happened to it ... show more
