  • Good starter stick
Style: Sidestick
This is a good starter flight stick. I am a weekend warrior when it comes to flight sims and do not want a large sim setup. I play MFS24. This flight stick works real well. I was using an Xbox conroller on PC at first and the flight stick has made it easier to land and take off. When in bad weather landing situations, I find the extra amount of play that the flight stick has compared to the controller, gives me a much better experience and more accuracy. I have not crashed a plane since switching. I started with the Thrustmaster HOTAS one and really didn't care for the throttle. It also took up alot of space on the desk when this one barely takes up any. This also has a much better gimble system then the "ball and joint' system that the HOTA one had. The throttle switch is very sensitive, but I got used to it quickly. It was basically plug and play. The game recognized it and many of the actions were pre-assigned to the stick. It was easy to remap everything that I wanted to. It feels good in the hand and has just the right amount of resistance. Even when messing around with the F18 and really pushing the stick, it stays planted on the desk without lifting or sliding. Seems to be a good value for the money. ... show more

  • Great but two problems...

I love this setup. Works great, plus the ability to remove the detents and use it with other Sims is amazing. The only gripe I have is I'm on my second one. The design of the removable USB is where I see the flaw. After years of plugging and unplugging it it finally disconnected from the board itself inside. It would have made more sense to make it just like the stick and have it integrated into the whole unit. And the price increase is crazy. When I bought the officers pack the whole thing was just the price of the throttle. ... show more

I got MSFS in August 2020 and I had been using the keyboard for flying, but trying to control an aircraft with just a few controls on a keyboard can be very frustrating, indeed! Now that I have it, I really enjoy it, and it has really made a difference in my flying and landing performance. I really like it! This joystick has been for sale at highly inflated prices for months, sometimes even approaching twice the retail price. If you are interested in buying this, but you refuse to pay an exorbitant price, I suggest you keep checking Amazon's price every day. When I bought it, It was being sold by third party vendors through Amazon, but very few of those vendors had positive ratings, so I kept on waiting. My patience was finally rewarded when I found a vendor with 95% positive ratings, who was selling the product for under $100.00. I bought it right away. About a month after I bought it, I once saw it for sale by Amazon directly, and at the original retail price, too! So, my advice is, if you see a good price from a reliable vendor purchase it immediately, because that price won't last very long. I hope this helps. Happy flying. UPDATE: As of 2/20/21, Amazon is selling it for less than $70.00, but won't deliver until early April. If you're willing to wait, this is the best price ever. UPDATE#2: As of Oct. 2021, The joystick locks up after a minute or so into the flight. Then nothing works! It came with a one-year warranty, and I have submitted my information to the manufacturer for a replacement. It has been over three weeks, and I am still waiting to hear when the item will ship to me. i like the product, but their customer service needs to be improved. UPDATE#3: I received the replacement joystick in November 2021. Unfortunately, it totally quit functioning in less than a month. However, it is still under the original one-year warranty and Thrustmaster has agreed to send me a second replacement at no charge, for which I am grateful. I am waiting for that. UPDATE#4: It turns out that the second sidestick did not need to be replaced. The problem was a misunderstanding on my part. Initially, the second sidestick started exhibiting the same problems as the first one, but eventually, all of those problem went away. I have no idea why, but it is really working well now, so I am very happy about that. It a lot of fun to fly again, not having to worry about the sidestick malfunctioning. Also, I want to thank Thrustmaster for their support. While they weren't the fastest, they certainly knew what they were doing, and they were very helpful and patient with me. I am very pleased. UPDATE #5 1-21-23. After using this sidestick for over two years, I bought a new one. The reason: Over the last few months, I have noticed problems with the aircraft whenever I tried to take off. The plane would veer to the left on the runway, often so severely that sometimes I was unable to keep it on the runway at all. I would try to counteract this by steering heavily to the right. A week or so ago, I read that the problem could be resolved by disassembling the sidestick, but I decided that was too complicated for me to go, so I ordered another one, instead. All in all, this has been a great product, even ignoring the initial problems I had experienced. ... show more

  • An overpriced hunk of junk
Style: Officer Pack
PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS Now I’ve had this stick for about 8 months at first I loved it, it was great having a throttle quadrant; I upgraded from a Logitech Extreme 3D pro. In full functionality the stick is a bit sub par although seeing that it is a replica of a real world Airbus side stick that is ok, but the buttons on the base are really bulky and not ergonomic and sometimes hard to tell which one your pressing without looking, not that great in my opinion especially if you are playing in VR. The throttle however is very functional the buttons are easy to find as there are only a few and they are very well made. Although it is fully plastic and feels so cheap, it is light and doesn’t not feel like a ThrustMaster product, I just emphasize how unsatisfactory this product is. This stick was made for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and comes pre set up for that game but it does also work with a suite of other flight sims pretty well, i.e. Xplane11, FSX, and DCS. The throttle on the other hand is a bit finicky I have trouble getting it to work on Xp11 and I am finding it impossible to actually use it a a throttle in DCS (DCS acknowledges it as a stick rather then a throttle). I do love the stick though and have had little troubles with it beside the stated. In all I actually despise this product because it is an overpriced piece of junk it is no where worth the asking price it should be $50 this is not deserving of the ThrustMaster name and I’d recommend to save a bit more and just go get the warthog, that works with pretty much everything, or get the honey comb yoke. I plan to get this refunded and or a new one from ThrustMaster soon. If it wasn’t so expensive I would say it’s good but it just doesn’t warrant its high price for the performance you get. My 6 year old $45 Logitech Extreme 3D pro performed better then this and worked with every game and was actually very functional as well as tough. Again please do not buy this just save your money it was a major regret to buy this as I plan not even to keep it for a full year I’m am so eager to drop this stick and throttle. ... show more
