I planned to take my 2 great nephews on a backpacking trip, and while gathering my gear, I could not find my Big Agnes Copper Spur 3 person tent, which weighs around 4 pounds. It cost me a good chunk of my covid stimulus payment, so I was freaking out a bit, but honestly, the first time I camped in higher winds in it, it was so loud I couldn’t sleep the entire night so I wasn’t all that happy with my purchase other than it was light. So, steps in this 3 Bears 4 person tent. Sure it was more than double the weight of the Big Agnes, but only a quarter of the price, and the weight split between 3 people was not so bad. Plus it was way roomier, but not so big that we couldn’t find a good spot to fit it into. Setup was a breeze. It kept us dry all night through periods of slight drizzle, and no condensation came into the tent. It was also very quiet through some winds that at least broke the 10 mph mark. Great tent! Comes with everything you need, and the instructions were a littlleeee vague but once you figure out that the clips match in color (both red and grey), really easy. I can’t say enough how much I love this tent! It’s perfect size, it also has two large interior pockets and several loop holders on the top to hold my light and two mini fans! I like this one more than my $400 REI!!!

I get that this is pretty entry level, but the design is bad. Only 1 rainfly vent at the top prevents a cross breeze from pulling out hot air. The door should open into the vestibule, not away from it so you can easily grab gear stored under it with minimal exposure to rain/bugs. The standard 2 pole, symmetrical design is far better than this. Since they are permanently connected in the middle here, if you break one section the whole thing is useless. There's no replacing a pole with a generic one that's the same length since these are specific to this tent. The tent and fly are fairly loosy goosy, so any amount of wind makes it flap at night. The rainfly door rolling to the top is a terrible design that will lead to water pooling on top of it and/or dripping into the mesh directly below. There's a reason most tent flies open the side; it's so the top can be taught and allow water to drip away from the mesh. It does not come with a footprint. It's also fairly heavy for a "backpacking" tent. This is probably fine for yard camping, but I will not be relying on it for any actual excursion. I gave it a 2nd star because the stakes are a decent design and they at least bothered to color code the poles and rainfly since it's not symmetrical. ... show more

This tent is actually bigger than I was expecting, but not overly big. I got it for my daughter and my son said right away it's his, so they both really like it. The zipper is thin, very thin for a tent zipper, but it works so smooth, it also has a plastic cover over it and it does not get in the way when zipping. It's very easy to setup, the poles are connected to each other and color coded. The poles stay on the outside of the tent so no feeding it through tent sleeves, the tent just clips on to the poles. The tent is pretty much all mesh and it has a lot of storage pockets, with a rainfly that covers the entire tent, which also prevents rain from getting inside the door when unzipping the actual tent. The rainfly also creates a vestibule on each side by the doors for storing your gear. The vent has braces to actually hold the vent open. The door can be propped up with trekking poles or rolled up. The steaks are very lightweight, they are shaped like an X, and the hooks on them are very small but they do seem to hold on the the tent straps well. The tops of the stakes are not flat, making them a little more difficult to get them started with just pushing them in with your hands, definitely made more for use with a hammer. ... show more

I set this up the second it arrived! It took maybe 10-15 minutes, with a kiddo helping out here or there. It's nice and roomy, with great space while sitting up on my air mattress. It's obviously built strong. The zippers are heavy duty and zip easily, the mesh lets air circulate well, it's stable as can be once secured, and it has nicely florescent guy line so you don't trip. I love the little pocket, the raised door flap, and how thick and tough the fabric feels. This baby will last, even when I camp with my rowdy nieces and nephews. The kids instantly started asking to do a backyard campout, and I think I'm going to say yes because I'm dying to try it out too. I can already see there won't be issues to report here, this is a fantastic quality tent for the money. I'll do an edit if I run into anything, but this is my 10th or 11th tent and I can see how solid it is. Highly recommend! ... show more
