At first this seemed perfect. Wiring was easy and solid. Intallation was easy.. connection is solid. HOWEVER, regarding being waterproof, the rubber cap on the receptacle does not fit tight and comes off. Also the plug is open at the wire end and does not form any barrier to moisture. I would return it but I would have to remove it and then install another which would involve drilling another hole in my boat. If I can get a new cap for the outlet maybe the would be worth a try even though it involves removeing and reinstalling. UPDATE I contacted the seller and they will send a replacement cap. Also they explained that the plug wire is not sealed to allow for differences in wire size. I used electrical tape to seal the gap UPDATE You might consider getting two and use the second plug to attach a solar charger to the battery without having a second connection to the battery directly ... show more

I was using a different type of plug. Probably a very common plug that I got from one of the big outdoor companies that mentions Bass and ends in Pro. I used that plug for years and to make a long story short. I got another trolling motor and changed up my front switch plate so I tried this plug instead. This works better. Clicks in and out easier, water tight around the input wire, and just over all better system. I do recommend this plug for those folks utilizing a two wire system. Good product. ... show more

These trolling motor plug receptacles are great. They feel sturdy and solid. They plug into each other and lock together. They accept up to a 6 AWG wire which are great for high voltage and amps. You will want to make sure you have a good seal around the wires entering the receptacles so there is no issue of rusting or corroding. I have a trolling motor that came with one of those very basic plugs that didn't lock and easily loosened. I was a little worried that this would be difficult to install, but it was really quite simple and I got it working on the first try. The design prevents the plug from coming loose and is water tight. If I had known about this before I started to have issues with my old plug, I would literally have cut the plug off and installed this on day 1. I'm on a kayak and the trolling motor is my only way to navigate and I would not trust the original plug to keep me from getting stranded out in the middle of the lake!! ... show more
