  • I should have bought it sooner!
This tool is going to make planting my spring flowers and fall bulbs an absolute breeze! It’s very sturdy and handles tough conditions well—I have clay-heavy soil with lots of rocks and pebbles, and it drilled right through without hesitation. I tested it in both dry, compacted soil and after a rainstorm, and it performed great in both. I also love that it’s bright orange, which makes it easy to spot on the ground while I’m working—no more wasting time hunting for tools in the dirt! My only regret is not buying this sooner. It would have saved my back and knees a long time ago. Highly recommend this for any gardener! ... show more

  • MUCH better than some of the other options available.
I got another augur a few weeks ago, and wasn't really happy with the overall function/quality of it. This augur addresses every single one of the issues I had with the other one: -- The tip on the augur is tapered and the taper extends up to the screw so that the initial action is much less jarring. -- The shank which inserts into the chuck on a drill has thinner/harder paint, so the grip is better. -- It is a bright color, which is less prone to being tripped over or lost. This is a lot more intelligently designed and seems to be less concerned with pinching every penny possible during production. ... show more

  • good size for transplanting starter trees/bushes
Ordered these for use with my cordless drill. Ordered the smaller length which I deemed sufficient for the kind of planting and replanting I hope to do. Lost lots of trees and bushes to freezes and drought over the past few years in this part of Texas. Decided that this was the best tool for planting young trees in non-irrigated places. Not sure if this tool will help me to replant trees where an irrigated tree has died but the roots remain. I'm still trying to figure out how to remove old roots without damaging underground irrigation piping. So far, it looks to be labor intensive hand work. This auger is heavy duty. The cutting diameter is smaller than my hand operated post hole digger. Whether any of my cordless hand drills have enough torque for the tool to remove heavy clay (called gumbo in this part of Texas) remains to be seen. ... show more

  • HUGE auger for planting stuff.
WOW! I knew from the ad that these would be pretty big but it is REALLY BIG! I am not sure if it will work in a cordless power tool (it should, I just haven't tried yet). If you plan on digging holes in soft dirt or potting soil it should work great. If you plan to dig in hard clay or rocky soil you probably need a corded power drill. I ordered both the 3" and the 3.5" models to use planting trees. I might have to get something bigger than a compact Makita cordless drill to use these in. The 3" arrived today. The 3.5" should arrive tomorrow. These are heavy and well built! I don't see them getting damaged very easily. I will update this review in a few weeks if I have any issues using these augers. (So don't hold your breath!) I think they will be great for what I need. ... show more

  • Very impressed!
The media could not be loaded. Slow and controlled is the way to go here. I went at it full speed at first, it worked, but it throws soil everywhere! The video I uploaded shows it being used in relatively loose soil, at least not compacted and it works flawlessly. I tried it in much harder soil and it worked just fine. I used a 20 volt Dewalt cordless drill with a 1.5 amp hour battery. It wore that little battery out pretty quickly. It did bind up a couple of times on a root but my drill doesn’t have much torque. If a more powerful drill is used be ready for it binding up and twisting your hands. This could be used to make quick holes for planting smaller plants, to start a hole that can be enlarged easily or to loosen compacted soil. It’s fun to use too! ... show more

  • Easy to use and efficient!
The media could not be loaded. Really functional and efficient. Used this to plant roses on my backyard and it delivered what I wanted. Easy to use and of good quality. Durable. This is a good buy specially for those who loves to do gardening. Made my planting easier. 5 stars indeed

  • Works great
The media could not be loaded. This auger works really well and easily. I found I needed 2 hands to hold the drill, so couldn't film it working very well, but it did work great. I did have to turn the torque up on the drill, and then it worked so well I had to hold it with both hands. It is an exact fit in my drill, fitting the space just barely, but it did fit. I drilled 3 holes in a triangle to get a space big enough for my plant. It was so fast and easy. ... show more
