I bought these boots on here 6 months ago and really wanted to wait to give these boots the real test to see how they stood up to give a real world evaluation beyond the new boot honeymoon and break in blues phase. I work for the LA County Sanitaton Districts and work directly in raw sewage daily, climb endless stair cases, ladders, exposed to and walk through sand, grit, oil, dirt, concrete, asphalt, wastewater, regular water, bleach, chemicals, jump in and out of trucks all day long. 10,000 to to 15,000 steps a day on this job 10 to 16 hour days wearing these boots tracked by my smart watch. 1.2 million steps and going in 6 months on these FD Series Thorogoods! Originally I was very hesitant at buying them because they were “imported” and was concerned about the unknown workmanship on imported boots and the fact they were not 8” high in all black and a relatively new boot to the market with this FD Series. Im skeptical about it all especially with claims and work boots. I’m glad I took the chance on these boots. These boots are really amazing, all day comfortable, dry, rugged and I am completely satisfied. Break in Phase, first month. The FD series is for their Flex Drive. That Flex drive is a flex plate in the bottom of the boot that gives your foot and foot arch and walking motion momentum with each step. I thought it was BS marketing before I bought. The boot and the FD system really works. The leather on the boot is perfect and needs no break in at all. The Flex Drive under the arch support needs to be broken in by you and getting use to. There’s a beginning stiffness to the flex drive shank. It’s not a painful process, It just needs to be done like washing new jeans. I wore them consistently daily to get the Flex Drive going in combination with my normal stride and work routine. Once they broke in I was shocked at how my feet and back didn’t hurt anymore during the work day from regular work boot comparison. I normally have always worn their “Heritage Series” boots where the leather is where the break in process has to happen and the sole is like a walking shoe. But the “Heritage Series” in this line of work wear out in 6 months or less at best. The Heritage boot is a great work boot for regular construction work, just not for the waste water treatment and sewage business, the FD Series is a perfect fit foe my work. These Thorogood FD Series boots fit perfect and perform perfect in every way. I wear a size 9.5 in Vans and size 9.5 in Nike but my work boots call for a size 9 to fit right. These are waterproof and composite toe. Exactly what I needed for this job. I wish they made them in 8” in all black. I love them as they are though. I don’t feel I lost anything with ankle support with the 6” high boot. The bootlace needs to be double knotted to not come undone during the shift. The bootlace material is nice and rugged but wants to come undone if not double done at the top. My biggest fear is not having a place to properly re-sole the bottoms when I finally wear these boots to the ground because I can’t imagine having any other boot now that I’ve owned these and really put them through their challenges with this job. I will be buying another pair or two as spares because when i finally find something I truly love and appreciate companies typically discontinue or change them up. I hope that Thorogood continues making this particular boot. I can’t imagine wearing anything other than these boots while I work! Best work boots ever. Period!

I usually stick with the redwings brand of work boots, but I thought I would try something new, and went with these boots instead. At first, the boot felt a little narrow, I've never had to buy a wide boot before, but I almost thought that I would have to return these and get the wider version. However, after a week or so of wearing them all day at work, they ended up being pretty nice. It did take a while to get used to them, and be comfortable in them, but now I really like them. They are super easy to put on and take off, which honestly is a welcome feature. I have bad knees so it's nice not needing to put my full weight into putting these boots on! All in all, they are a nice pair of boots, and I think I'm happy I didn't give up on them and buy the wider pair.

I purchased these boots in May of 2022, they are by far the most comfortable boots I have worn. I am up and down stairs all day, go through mud,water,oil and grease. Even after walking twenty plus thousand steps a day my feet don’t hurt. There is a piece on the heel that did come off but it didn’t affect the comfort of the boot or the water proofing. I have never had a pair of boots last like these have. I found them so comfortable and durable that I just ordered another pair.

Pros: - Looks good. - Fits tight and is adjustable. - Comfortable to stand in for long periods. - Toe top cover to protect it. - High Quality Stitching outside and inside. - Nice none-slip pattern on the bottom. - Nice quality leather. - Hard Ankle protector, a PLUS! - Metal Lace Eyelets and Slip string holders. - Slip able Top inside covers so it doesn't rub or foot where it goes into your boot, NICE! Cons: - Weak Heal Pattern. Within one day of sittings in a chair I pushed my foot forward and the heal on both boots, where the sharp triangle indentation is, they split. NOT GOOD! Conclusion: - If there is another boot out there that has all those features I'd buy it. If not take them to a shoe place and have them fix the splits. - I'm not sure I'd buy them again, time will tell, I do like the features these boots have a lot.

I ordered 3 sizes of these for fitting as every boot I have ever bought seems to size differently than the last I ordered 2 from Amazon outdoor equipped which didn't fit properly and will be returned (which is also very easy and smooth with outdoor equipped) now the boots themselves are a nice solid feeling boot I like the design and after trying a few sizes on they are definitely true to size in length but the width seems a little odd as In my general 13 size there was very little difference between the 13m and 13w and if you want to wear thicker socks I would probably go with the wide for the little added room but overall the leather feels of nice quality and may require a few days of break in before it softens and smooths out they are comfortable out of the box and expect they will get better with some more time the stitching is nice and laces up very solid and snug the toe box offers enough room to breath and swell but not swimming in them either the added rubber bumpers are nice also as generally I wear the toe out first from using my boots as a tool....I cannot comment on longevity yet but all signs are there for a solid lasting boot....if I had any negatives besides the odd width differences it would be nlmine seems to have a small amount of extra lining at the bottom of tongue doesn't affect fitting just something I noticed as of first impressions I would buy again provided they last a reasonable amount of time
