Description

A man presumed dead is suddenly wanted for murder in this thriller of secrets, lies, and dangerous conspiracies that threaten to cover up the truth. Three years ago, sports agent Myron Bolitar gave a eulogy at the funeral of his client, renowned basketball coach Greg Downing. Myron and Greg had history: initially as deeply personal rivals, and later as unexpected business associates. Myron made peace and moved on – until now, when twofederal agents walked into his office, demanding to know where Greg Downing is. According to the agents, Greg is still alive—and has been placed at the scene of a double homicide, making him their main suspect. Shocked, Myron needs answers. Myron and Win, longtime friends and colleagues, set out to find the truth, but the more they discover about Greg, the more dangerous their world becomes. Secrets, lies, and a murderous conspiracy that stretches back into the past churn at the heart of Harlan Coben's blistering new novel. Read more Read less

  • A Home Run!
Mr. Coben, Exceptional Plot Construction... very well written... Quite Impressive... Make this a movie or probably better: a series in Netflix... a well written screenplay coupled with great casting and creative dialog from " Think Twice" will feel like hitting a Home Run!

  • Wonderful story!
I enjoyed this book immensely! It was funny, kept me interested till the end, and. a little sad to see Myron and Win aging. I hope this will not be the end of this family. Thanks for a very enjoyable story.

  • Not my favorite but still good.
The story line was great, all the regular twists and turns. The book however felt crowded with references to many of Myron’s, (and Win’s) previous cases. I’ve read almost all of his books and I found it distracting which makes me wonder if those who weren’t as familiar with their past adventures found it that way too. I still love this author and will continue to read anything he writes. ... show more

  • Layered Mystery
Words can’t express how much I missed these characters – Myron, Win, Esperanza, and Big Cyndi. Win, released a few years ago and the first in a series, nearly had me dancing in the streets from happiness, but having the whole crew together again is such a treat. Greg Downing, Myron’s former client and the man responsible for ending Myron’s basketball career, died three years ago. Or did he? When his DNA is found during a murder investigation, Myron has questions. Lots of them. In typical Coben style, Myron and Win discover connections between several seemingly unrelated events over the course of the story and peel away layers upon layers of deception. While this always intrigues me and usually has me suspecting everyone but the real killer, what I missed most about this series are the conversations and sharp banter between Myron and Win. I laughed, snorted, giggled (especially over some of Myron’s conversations with his parents) – and even teared up a couple times over situations near the end of the novel. This could possibly be read as a standalone since some backstory is included, but I’d highly recommend reading the other books first – not just to know what’s going on, but also to experience the sheer joy of hanging out with Myron and friends. Recommended for readers who enjoy complex mysteries, sarcastic, witty banter, and characters you’d love to meet in real life (if only!). I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. ... show more

  • You, Harlan, are a genius!
From page 1, dear reader, you are sucked in! This man writes better than any modern novelist I know. I, sadly, suck at writing so it’s hard to get the feel of this book across…it’s more than the witty repartee, the engrossing plot full of twisty turns, the love and bonds the characters share, it’s how well Coben weaves everything together. I love all his books, some more than others but the Myron Bolitar series were always at the top of my list, this one is the cherry! ... show more

  • Fantastic!
I think this may be the best Myron book I've read. Our old friends are back and are drawn with more depth. The mystery is amazing. Twists and turns and no idea where this was going. I enjoyed the difference voices, esp. Win's at the end. One tiny nit--the monologues by the baddy should have been shorter. GREAT writing! Great dialogue. Terrific! What more can I say? And it sounds as if another will be coming. Yippee! ... show more

  • Just a great read
I’ve enjoyed all of his books. The characters are so well developed, you feel they are real people that you’d like to meet up with. Well except for Win. I thought I had this one figured out, but I fell for the red herrings and was wrong. Great ending.

  • Visiting Old Friends
I enjoyed the book, having looked forward to it for a while. It got a little convoluted in spots (who? what? which one?). But it was worth going back for clarification! Good read and worth the wait.
