  • LOVE the quality of the stills
Style: Camera only
I read and studied reviews of this product for months before purchasing. It was a big purchase for me (for this kind of camera). I LOVE the quality of the stills. There is just no substitute for quality large format sensors. I love the RAW support. OK - I rated it 5 stars because it's the best quality STILL 360 camera I could afford. There are a couple of things about this I don't like about it - and they are well documented. It doesn't accept memory cards and you can't replace the battery. I would have accepted a larger body to accommodate these two factors. But that's not how they decided to design it. I'm able to work with these two constraints. I just make sure it's fully charged and has nothing on the internal memory before I do any shoots. This isn't for everyone. But if you're looking for REALLY GOOD stills, this is one of the best. Don't buy it for videos (as plenty of reviewers have indicated). ... show more

  • Great Camera For PHOTOS
Style: Camera only
Having used the former Ricoh Theta V and Insta360 One X, this camera is by far the best for 360 PHOTOS. It IS expensive but image quality and color saturation are beautiful. I am a REALTOR and even in low light (you can control the ISO, shutter speed, apeture size, etc.) the 360 photos look great. Most of the time, I just set the camera on AUTO and take JPEG images. BUT, if you want VIDEOS as well at this time (June 2019) the Insta360 One X would be a more affordable second choice. You can take videos with the Theta Z1 but camera is best for PHOTOS. The workflow for JPEG images is as easy as you can get. The fixed memory (19GB) is enough for taking PHOTOS. ... show more

  • Great Camera Vs the lower end Theta
Style: Camera only
I bought the Theta which was about $400 and then purchased this one which was about $1,000 to see if there was that much difference in the quality. There most definitely is. The pictures on the Z come out much more crisp, and even in low light I was happy with the results. I really like being able to see the battery life % on a screen. It's heavier than the other Theta, but not by much. I will be returning the other camera. Perfect for 360 photos for real estate. ... show more

  • Great indoor photo quality
Style: Camera only
I use this for indoor 360 photos for virtual home tours. I also have an Insta OneX, but the Theta Z1 takes a far superior photo indoors. The battery could last a little longer, in my opinion, but most of the time, it lasts long enough for what I need.

  • Great 360 camera!
Style: Camera only
In combination with the dual fish-eye plugin, this has made a great camera for shooting pro-grade 360 home tours! The lack of a removable battery and expandable storage via micro SD is VERY disappointing for a camera of this caliber and price point, but I've not had a shoot yet that this was an issue, but larger properties (5000 sqft+) will probably be very difficult to capture in one go. Image quality is really good and with dual fish eye HDR RAW photos, the dynamic range smashes what I get from my 5D MK IV, it's incredible what you can recover in post. ... show more

  • Great camera for the money
Style: Camera only
Works much better than the other older Ricohs, I tried a LOT OF 360 CAMERAS, and this one is one of my favorites because of the resolution, speed, and ease of use.

  • Died after about two years
Style: Camera only
Camera would power on with an ERROR message on the display. Searching the internet, this seems to be a common issue. The camera is bricked. I've had each of the Ricoh Theta models since they started making them. Most of the died, but until now after I got the next model. Z1 was by far the most expensive and its life span was too short for the price, and Ricoh has not released a significant upgrade to replace it. (I don't count the higher-capacity Z1 as a significant-enough upgrade to have replace an otherwise working Z1 OG.) In addition to this hard and permanent failure, the camera had other issues, as described in other reviews. Battery life was not great. Thermals were not great. Phone connectivity was not great. I did like the wired mode; along with a tripod adapter, OBS, and a separate mic, I used the Theta as a video call camera. It was super clunky in terms of both cabling and software, but it worked. It would be great if the cable port was on the side and the camera showed up as a regular desktop cam without needing OBS. I'm losing faith in Ricoh's 360's. I'll try Insta360 again next. ... show more

  • Best 360 camera on the market at the moment
Style: Camera only
If you are looking for a camera that will take excellent 360 pictures this is a good choice. The large sensors take one of the best "one shot" pictures and the camera is great for doing 360 virtual tours or taking Google street view shots.
