  • Installed this 4 Pin Fan (Part # CLP0556-B) on a HP Intel I7-6700T LGA 5100 in only 5 minutes
This review pertains only to the INTEL NON RGB CPU FAN (Part # CLP0556_B) which is one of several selections you can make when looking at the ad. Please read the following information carefully as it may save you time and money. I hope the photos I provided make it easier to understand the fitment. My PC is a HP 510-p114 placed in service on 11.21.2016 so it has been running in services for just under 3 years. This CPU Fan was a perfect fit onto my Hamar MOBO which is fitted for the LGA 5100 Socket. It comes with an adapter bracket which I did not need to attach this directly to my MOBO I have the Intel I7-6700T CPU chipset and the (blue screen) HP Error Code 90B (CPU Fan Problem) kept popping up upon reboot. I came to Amazon looking for a replacement and found this. In photo 1 you can see the OEM Fan side by side with the new Thermaltake CLP0556-B which is the 4 pin version that my PC was designed to use. You will note that the fastener layout and dimensions are an identical match to the OEM. This CPU Fan is taller in height and has more mass to disperse heat from. You must make sure you have enough vertical clearance to accommodate the increased height. You should also note that the new CPU Fan comes with a layer of Thermal Grease already applied and it is covered with a clear plastic bubble that you are to remove before installation. In photo 2 you can see the Thermaltake CLP0556 as installed in my unit. This took exactly 5 minutes to remove the old fan, clean the existing thermal grease from the CPU and install the new CPU Fan. In photo 3 you can see the cleaned/prepared CPU and its nomenclature. In photo 4 you can see the product details as printed on the box. It clearly states that this product has an expected life expectancy of 30,000 hours which equates to about 3-1/2 years if you run constantly as I do. I strongly suggest you keep that service life in mind so that you can proactively replace the CPU Fan before the end of its service life. After installation, I rebooted immediately and the PC was noticeably faster. I do not have an App to monitor the CPU Fan as some folks do, but I am quite sure that the OEM Fan was on its way out as I had noted a decline in performance for about a week before the 90B error code popped up. As a general suggestion to everyone, it is a very good idea to open your case on a regular basis and use canned air to blow all your fans clean as they do tend to accumulate dust which is counter-productive to long device life. I rate this product with 5 stars for an excellent fit and easy installation. This vendor could do a much better job of being clear that this ad pertains to more than one CPU Fan. Hopefully the information I shared with you here will guide you to a successful solution. ... show more

  • Quality product, installation is a pain
Size: AMD/Intel Universal Style: Non-RGB Pattern Name: Fan
Good quality build, the fan is very quite, and it cools my AMD 8320 from the stock temperature of 40- 50 C to 30 - 40C. I can overclock the CPU to 4.2 GHz and the temperature of the CPU stays in 40-50 C. I bought this heat-sink because my old one keeps on causing the thermos shutdown of the FX 8320 after I upgrade it from the AMD 980. This replacement heat-sink definitely solve that problem. The only problem I had was the installation, the heat-sink really requires you to force it to mount on the CPU bracket, there is no other way around it. 2-17-2018 Update During normal office work and light computing (browse, you tube...), the temperature stays around 18 -20 C, this s really amazing. I would give it a five stars if the installation is not so difficult. Of course, if you want to take the board out of the case, it is a different story, I am installing this heat-sink with everything is in the case, in other words, in place upgrade, this is more difficult. I also want to add that if you think of changing the CPU after the heatsink is in place, that is very painful also, the design of the mounting of the heatsink obviously is not very user friendly. ... show more

  • UX100 5v Review paired with Ryzen
Size: AMD/Intel Universal Style: RGB/65W Pattern Name: Fan
2 stars. It’s pretty simple why. A. I love the look of this cooler. It fits well with everything else in this build. B. Installing was a pain. Would def advise to instal before installing the motherboard in a case C. The fan only has a three pin connector. So having issue with speed control. I’ve tried multiple different motherboards. It just spins full speed. D. The 5v connector just sucks. It’s two small random cables with markings. If you plug them in wrong you will fry this very quickly. I don’t understand why they did not use the basic plug like everyone else... Keeps Ryzen 5 2600 in decent temp range. I am returning this item due to the speed control issues and the cooling. Under heavy load for multiple hours it will let your cpu reach temps that will begin to bottleneck it. 85c + ... show more

  • Overall, it's a pretty good cooler for the price
Size: AMD/Intel Universal Style: Non-RGB Pattern Name: Fan
So, I installed this cooler for my Ryzen 5 2600, and here are my thoughts: -Installation: Be careful when installing this cooler. I highly recommend watching this video for the safest way to install this cooler: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z_qnH5yBZM&t=671s . Doing the method the method describes will insure that there are no issues with installing this cooler. Installing the fan on the cooler is simple as well. -Thermals: First off, don't use the 'silent' cable that comes with this cooler, especially if you plan on overclocking. That cable lowers the rpm of the fan with the cost of having your CPU be a few degrees warmer. For me, that few degrees was the difference between what AMD considers stable for long term use when overclocking. As for overclocking, I was able to get my Ryzen 5 2600 overclocked to 3.9Ghz on all cores with a voltage of 1.2625v, and my temperature didn't go above 73 degrees when testing it with Prime95 for an hour. -Size: I was impressed that I had no issues installing this cooler in a micro atx case. I had to remove my graphics card to have enough room to put the cooler on without removing my motherboard, but other than that I didn't have to do anything special to make it fit. The cooler isn't in the way of any of my ram slots, but it does take up the side-fan slots on my case. Overall, if you're looking for an AM4 cooler that doesn't require installing a special bracket, and are careful with the installation process, it will do the job if you plan on doing some minor overclocking. I don't know if I would recommend it to first time builders due to the installation process (But to be fair, I also wouldn't recommend overclocking to first time builders) , but for experienced builders I can recommend. ... show more
