  • Easily Cools A Hot Wireless Router Easily Cools A Hot Wireless Router
I was looking for a cooling solution for my Asus AC3100 router and this did the trick. Generally, you don't need active cooling for a router. As long as a router is located in an open area where air can circulate, it'll be just fine. Most newer router CPU's are designed to operate at temperatures between 70-80 degrees Celsius and even slightly hotter with little trouble. The problem I had was that the interior room in which I keep my router is always warm. Even though I keep my router in the open, the ambient temperature of the room drove up the router's CPU temperature, which routinely hit more than 80 degrees Celsius during heavy use (gaming and streaming). That's something the computer nerd in me needed to fix. After see a bunch of fairly ugly hardware hacks, I figured a laptop cooling pad would work. This was inexpensive enough to try out and it did the job. The single, large fan more than covers the footprint of my router and feeds air into the vents on the router's underside. Within fifteen minutes of positioning the router and turning on the fan, the router's idle CPU temperature dropped almost 20 degrees Celsius. CPU temperature now hovers between 49-55 degrees Celsius even under heavy use. At full blast, the fan is fairly quiet. I'll notice slight noise if everything in the room is quiet from about 10 feet away, but it's certainly not overwhelming or disruptive. I've never operated the fan at less than full speed, but you can adjust it. Lowering fan speed all the way shuts the fan off. The unit runs off of USB power, but I have it plugged into its own outlet using a mobile phone adapter. It absolutely can be powered by my router via USB port, but I'd rather avoid the potential interference doing so may create. The LED lights can be shut off if they're not your thing. Note that the entire unit does have a somewhat large footprint and works best on hard, flat surfaces. As with all active cooling fans that suck in air from the bottom of a device, do not place the unit on carpet. That's just asking for trouble. If you have a router that runs a little too hot and your router also is ventilated on the bottom, this will do the trick. Inexpensive, well built, and quiet. ... show more

  • Great laptop cooler for low price, although slightly small in size Great laptop cooler for low price, although slightly small in size
I got this cooler for my Lenovo Y40 14 inch cos it’s battery had to be changed couple of times due to quick wear-out (thankfully I had 2yr extended warranty). Since the Y40 was coming to the end of warranty and usually battery wear has something to do with the heat, I bought this to keep in my office (I had another brand cooler for home too). In short: Pros: - Well built, especially for the price - Barely audible (if any) - Blue LEDs (although they’re hard to see when there’s a laptop on it) - Adjustable fan speed - LED on/off button Cons: - Maybe a bit small for any laptop over 15 inches Used it for some months now, so far so good, just working as it supposed to be. Only change I had to was adding a USB cable extension (since I was plugging it to my external monitor instead of the laptop itself. But if you plug it to the laptop cord length is more than enough). Since its only one large fan it is supposed to be quieter than ones with multiple small fans. TBH I’ve not noticed it working (and my office is not a noisy place either). Only concern I can think of is the size; although they advertise it “Compatible with 17" notebooks and below”, even my 14 inch Y40 is almost the size of the cooler. Anyway, I’ve moved to an Alienware 13 now and the cooler still fits and works fine. I’ve not done any extensive testing with measuring temps with and without, but will update if anything goes wrong. Especially for the price, I cant think of anything bad about it. Please click the ‘Yes’ button below if my review helped you. Thanks! ... show more

  • does NOT lower my CPU/GPU temps at all
Looked at all the reviews and tested this cooler and sad to say it does not work at all. I've done my research and found that this was supposed to be one of the best laptop coolers. I am running a MSI GL65 Leopard with Nvidia Geforce RTX 2070, when running Valorant at max performance, my GPU creeps to 95C, tried just propping it up, tried a previous laptop cooler that didn't help, did more research and found this one is a top contender, but unfortunately my temps were exactly the same. I will have to be returning this. ... show more

  • Great Cooling - not a perfect fit for some 17" laptops
The 200mm adjustable speed fan provides a great deal of cool air - keeping my laptop cool under load. I keep the fan around 30% speed and that keeps my laptop cool. Very low dba. However, my 17" MSI gaming laptop is a bit too big. The feet on m laptop are only half on the edge of the cooler. My laptop slips around. I used some Scotch brand bumpers to make contact with the underside of my laptop to keep it in place. Cheap and effective solution. I also use this same type of cooler with my HP EliteBook 850 G6 - 15" and that is a very good fit. ... show more

  • Good Cooling Plate
Extremely quiet and decently large footprint for cooling down electronics. I would say it's sort of in the middle as far as cooling plate thicknesses are concerned. It's not too thick, nor too thin. I have one running 24/7 in my room for cooling a router. I have to do sanity checks once in a while because I *can't* hear it running at all. I've seen some reviews of people stating that it's loud, so it might be a per-item issue, not a generalized product issue. My only issue is that it's at a permanent slant. It's not adjustable for leveling to surfaces, but it's mainly cosmetic. I'd be wary of setting stuff like disk drives onto it that have fast spinning parts. The cooler itself uses a dual female/male connector, so you can plug it into your laptop and still use the same port for other accessories too. It sounds convenient, but some accessories really don't like you taking power off of the same port. I don't have the numbers on me to explicitly state the cooling power of this particular cooling plate. It does seem to make quite a difference, as my router is no longer hot to the touch when the plate is running. ... show more

  • Good for a router! Good for a router!
Works great for keeping my router cool. The fan is quiet and provides enough air to help cool my Asus router. That said the fan is pretty weak and I would be shocked if it actually helped something that creates as much heat as a laptop.

  • Average to cooling pads in the price range, but does have bad quality control
TLDR: At this price point around 25$, its competitive to other models. Honestly either your laptop has sufficient cooling or it doesn't, so its pointless to go high end and spend 50$ or more on a laptop cooling pad. A pad just allows your system to operate at its best, but not better. Remember that when shopping around. I ordered 2 and 1 was defective right out of the box. Replacement did work. Before and after, it lowered my laptops temps at max load about 3 to 4 Celsius. However this is partly just from having the free ventilation under the laptop. You could put a small block under each corner lifting the laptop up 1 inch and still have roughly the same results. But having a cooling pad is a more stable and attractive solution than random items propping up a laptop. The fan pushes little airflow, but it does push some. Enough airflow to where you can slightly feel it, so this probably helps another 1-2 C in lowering temps. Its very cheap build quality, and very easy to break from the filmy cable connection. If you're gentle with it and it stays on a desk all the time, it should be okay. But if you are going to be stuffing this in a bag and traveling, it will likely break because the cable connections are so poor. The frame itself is okay, could survive being thrown down stairs and still maintain its rigidity. Noise level is acceptable, its quieter than the laptop fans for sure. Remember, its just a cooling bad, you are not earning any better cooling paying over 50$+ for premium models. Your laptop's internal cooling in the only deciding factor. Pads only help it reach its peak normal cooling, but not better. ... show more

  • 5 star product when added with AC infinity booster
I've had over 2 dozen fans all claiming to move air with unique designs from multiple fans, large fans, suction designs, blowers that attached exhaust, and everything else in between. This large fan has good airflow on its own and was able to keep my laptop moderatly cool, but at some point its really just moving the air around on my desk, and doesnt provided sustained cool air (since longer sessions change the ambient temp around the laptop this is bound to happen since the air is typically warmer and these fans are just recirculating the immediate access air) The problem with ALL of them is that they use a usb port which can only provide so much power to spin the fan, ALL of them will always under perform, so i purchased additionally thee AC Infinity Turbo Fan Power Adapter, for MULTIFAN Series USB Fans, this is a power adapter rated to boost the performance of the AC infinity usb fans, and it does come with a BIG DISCLAIMER to not use on other products that its not intended to, so be warned! So for Science, i plugged my Thermaltake into the USB turbo fan booster as the fan rating met the requirements, and man did this make a difference, YES the fan will be louder, not by much, but noticeable from the highest setting without the booster, but the airflow will be twice as much for a small noise sacrifice, i was surprised at how much MORE power this give to the fan that now actively forces away alot more ambient air and sucks in alot more cooler air. This was my experience. All in all the thermal take fan on its own is good enough, despite the faults of all laptop coolers are limited by power and the temperature for the environment, but if your willing to test it out try the booster, (read the instructions for limitations on their website , most fans on these coolers DO comply) and enjoy ... show more
