I'm 5'8" and shoulder measures 18, and use the average. I have arthritis in the neck, a flat neck, and nerve pain, and I am a hybrid sleeper. I wish more pillows had that feature. It did take a few days to get used to rigidity of the pillow - but it's now currently a great pillow for sleeping on the BACK. My favorite part about the pillow is the wedge that's in the front - it really helps to relieve my upper back stiffness in the morning. However, when it comes to sleeping on the side - it is unusable! I've measured multiple times and have even ordered different sizes, but the petite is too small, the average is too high of a pillow, as is the large. Within 5-10 minutes of laying on my side, my neck will jam or I will start experiencing tingling in my arms. I'm really not sure what to do at the moment. I've already tried to squish the sides down, but the firmness maintains its structure. Currently thinking about cutting it to be slightly lower - another pillow that I have which is perfect for side-sleeping measures about 4.5" on the sides.

I looked at the product for nearly a year before purchasing, trying to decide if it was a gimick or a decent product. Asked my new Chiro, and he said he sold them (not sure if same brand, but same style anyway) and fully supports use of them. I had surgery into my neck years ago, and have chronic neck and back problems as a result which have made sleeping a chore. This pillow does a great job of nestling the head just right for back sleeping and supports a more level neck for side sleeping. I am deaf in one ear as a result of my surgery so I have a hard time sleeping if my hearing ear isn't blocked off...I used to turn my head all the way to the side to sleep on my back, but this pillow comes up high enough I can rest my ear at a much less severe angle which is much better for my neck. I used to be a stomach sleeper which is horrible for the neck (and I will for sure have a migraine from that if I do now!) but since I've had this pillow I have not been tempted to move to my stomach. That is a HUGE plus for me! Make sure you measure ear to outer arm, I had my chiro measure me and for the most part I think the size is good but sometimes I feel as if the side support could be a bit thicker. That could be just my neck being tempermental, but curious what the next size up would feel like. Not sure if he measured just to my shoulder, but if you have thicker arms you might want to factor that in. Also, I was concerned if the foam would be too hard for side sleeping, but for me it has been "just right". It did take a while to get used to the pillow for back sleeping, as the neck support feels a little odd at first. But if you give it a week or two I think you'll adjust to how it feels. I just spent a week on travel without it, and missed it horribly! Adjusted right back into it for a solid sleep on my first night home, so I have def. gotten used to it! Overall I am very satisfied with this pillow. I gave it four stars only because there is no 1/2 star option (I whould have done 4.5) and I am curious about the sizing. Though I suppose it is difficult to be completely sure on that until you actually sleep on it. And too, it's made for a size range, so it may not be that it would be 100% for everyone. Not really a "fault" so much as just the reality of a product that has to accomodate so many different factors (body type, sleep style, mattress, etc.). And anyway, I would say my statisfaction is ~99% on that anyway, so that's not a significant 'ding'. For the pricing, I would give this 5 stars compared to some of the simliar products out there.

Not as hard as other reviews say. Last year I was in between this pillow and another one. I bought the other one. That one really helped but I loved and hated it at the same time. Still I persisted. It was hard (very orthopedic) but leaving my head surrounded by a hole making it uncomfortable. Still I used it for months until I got used to it. In the last three months I found it too hard and tall for me and sleeping on the sides was from the beginning very complicated and practically impossible. Although it is indicated for back and side sleepers it was needed additional support at the back as well in between knees. I had enough! I have no curvature at the cervical so that is why I bought it because it was recommended to me. With the Therapeutica I can lay on the sides and I have not felt any pain in my ears as some reviews mention. You do need more space as you move on the pillow to get side to side but that is not a problem for me because I sleep alone. I noticed no pain in my lower back which was happening with the other pillow because it was too tall for me (I have short neck). In summary the Therapeutica is the pillow for me. I bought the Petite Size and used the meassuring table. It arrived sealed and new with a zipperd white cover. I don't feel preassure over and side of my head. The thin piece for upper back I find it helps with the rest of the support. I still use support between my legs when laying on my side. Also I am back sleeper. I lay on the sides while waiting to fall asleep and when I have awaken but I'm still sleepy a d not ready to get up.
