A Winner! Excellent, Responsive, versatile Bari Mouthpiece, great for doublers

As someone who has been playing saxophone for over 40 years (with Bari being my fourth most frequently played horn), I've accumulated quite a collection of Bari mouthpieces in my search for "the one." I am always looking for a mouthpiece that responds easily, similar to my other horns, allowing me to focus instantly on making music rather than spending intense time reacclimating to the air and feel. This new mouthpiece may have just leaped to the top of my Bari mouthpiece list! It offers impressive versatility and ease of response. For me, it can be manipulated with your embouchure to sound dark or bright, similar to the way a great Meyer-style mouthpiece works on alto. This characteristic makes it easy to immediately sound reasonably good and natural, which is a huge advantage. A key note for setup: it works best with standard ligatures made for hard rubber (fat) tenor mouthpieces. If you have the right ligature, the setup is straightforward. I think this mouthpiece is a genuine winner for players looking for consistency and versatility in their sound.

Beautiful sound

This has a great core sound, from high to low, and very crisp. Gives a very contemporary jazz sound. You do have to produce a good amount of air to get the sound you want with this one but it's easy to play. Fantastic price point for this quality of mouthpiece.

So I've gotten two of the Theo Wanne Essentials Jazz mouthpieces now and this, like the Alto version I just played today does not disappoint at all. Great sound and very easy to hit all the notes when I'm channeling my inner Mike Terry (Funk Brothers at Motown in the 1960s and THE reason I bought a bari horn.) This is a big step up from any stock mouthpiece and to my ears this is a stand out in this price range over hard rubber mouthpieces I've had (and I have a small collection...okay a medium sized collection.)

Nice mouthpiece with good sound

I tested this mouthpiece on a baritone and could immediately feel the chamber helped focus the tone a little better than my prior set-up. I felt a nice smooth response in the mid and low volume levels, and the baffle helped with projection without making the tone sound overly bright or brash. The notes were warm and rounded in tone in all registers, with the upper register being no exception.
