  • Awesome for $160
Size: 8 in Slim
I bought this because I didn't want the giant box types being sold. It is not Hi-Fi but it does get the job done. There are things you can do to help it: placement, acoustic treatments and isolation - which you always should always do with changes to your audio set-up anyhow. It's best points are: it does work, it sounds okay, it looks great, no issues after 2-years, it is low-profile and easily hidden, separate controls for freq and gain; it can pass thru - so different Amp/ Rcvr connection options. The reason I came back to the page is I am thinking of buying another. I moved and my new LR is not the best for acoustics so I am thinking about getting a 2nd one of these or, possibly a higher end SW after I do some testing and measurements. It is probably important to note I am not cranking my system up very often, I listen at moderate levels. Like others I am only trying to fill in those very low freqs, at low levels. It hits all the points other SW don't that I wanted. The one draw back is it is not a Hi-Fi sub and you will want to cross it over very low with just enough gain. ... show more

  • Great sub for my office
Size: 8 in Slim
If you are looking for a subwoofer for your in-home movie set-up that has massive main speakers, 200+ watt per channel amplifier, and you are looking for a subwoofer that will blow out your windows during explosions while simultaneously rupturing your ear drums rendering you deaf, this would not be the subwoofer you want. If you need a sub to fill out the lower octaves for your office or smaller room, this is an awesome product. I have a pair of bookshelf mid-range Boston and Polk Audio speakers (four speakers together) hooked up to my Marantz integrated amplifier. The speakers do well for the mid and upper frequencies. Terrible for the lower range. This sub-woofer filled out that missing sound excellently. The two controls, one for volume, and one to select where what range of frequencies to amplify, worked well. For the price, the bass was surprisingly tight and well defined. Would a $750.00+ ELAC sub have sounded better? Sure. But I did not need that for my office. I paid right around $160.00 for this sub woofer. This was, in my opinion, a great purchase for my needs. I would buy it again without hesitation. MJM ... show more

  • cheap sub that doesn't sound bad
Size: 8 in Slim
practically the only option if you want a slim sub that you can tuck away. their is the slim jamo sub but it's quite a bit thicker and can't be laid flat like this one. it has decent, room filling sound for a small to medium sized room. you won't be blown away but you can't expect that for 150 bucks and a small cabinet. i originally had it connected to the sub out on some edifier1280ts. a great beginner set up for a record player and/or a computer desk. now i have it wired up using the high level inputs from a small two channel amp that doesn't have a dedicated sub out to a pair of triangle bro3's. i haven't been able to hear any difference in the sub between the different ways of hooking it up. i've heard other klipsch subs in the $200-$350 range that this sub contends with. you don't start getting big separation until you start comparing it to the svs sb1000 up at the $500 price range. overall a very decent subwoofer, especially considering the price. ... show more

  • Works well
Size: 8 in Slim
I was leary about this item, but now that it's installed, I'm happy for it. It's installed beneath my sofa on thick carpet (1/2" thick pile). I adjusted (cross-over and volume) to work with my yamaha YAS-107BL soundbar. It provides the desired "thumps" when a show or movie's car door shuts or guns are fired etc. Not muffled or distorted at all. Adds the desired depth and quality to the TV sound in conjunction with the soundbar which is set to 3d surround and clear voice. I have the soundbar's extended base setting turned off -- it's not needed with this woofer, however I could increase it's cross-over to achieve the same effect. The base level of the sound bar is set to 3 out of 4. My room is 16 x 18 with 18 foot ceiling. You can certainly feel the base on the sofa and across the floor. Nice! The only thing I'd recommend / or wish was different were the included connection cables. It's very nice that they included lengthy 90 / right angle left and right RCA connector cables plus a splitter. However, I wish they included a splitter that was built into the RCA right angle cables rather than a separate connector. If so, I wouldn't need the extension cables as provided and could have plugged the right angle RCA Y connectors directly from my female feed cable to the woofer left and right. Of course, if they had dedicated one of the inputs for a mono woofer feed, splitters wouldn't be needed at all. . (my sound bar has 1 dedicated woofer out RCA). I had to purchase those y adapter cables separately to eliminate 1 connection and these right able male to male RCA spitter cables are very hard to find! (Found one short set on Amazon). As they say, every connection decreases your signal strength -- so the less connections the better. Other than that -- it's a good unit for my TV. ... show more

  • Good value, had to make some tweaks for my application.
Size: 8 in Slim
Overall a very good value. Using this sub for my outdoor system. Mounted above the doors. Wall mount leaves you no way to adjust it, so I bought a cheap tv mount and modified it so I could swing it and open it. I had to lengthen the feet to account for the mount. Sounds great and looks great.
