  • Best cookbooks due to photos per step, per recipe AND very good recipes
Format: Hardcover
Ree's Cookbooks are awesome The pictures per step per recipe are extremely helpful. Better yet, the recipes are wonderful for families, great stuff. Easy to do and great results. I am a cookbook collector of sorts and have MANY of her books, we both enjoy them. My husband reads her books in the bath! And he uses sticky tabs to mark his choices which are many, the books end up with many flags. We cook at home for 95% of our meals. Ree's recipes are top of our list, best choice. Easy to do and very good results. Love her stuff! ... show more

  • 120 recipes for my table, new and improved for the home chef.
Format: Hardcover
In this cookbook, Red Drummond gives us 129 recipes, both new and imoroved. Broken into Breakfast Food, Lunch Food, Pizza , Casseroles, Beef, Chicken, Pork, Seafood, Potatoes and Sides, and Desserts and Drinks. There are sweet pictures of her family and pictures of the dishes. There is one in particular of the Drum minds holding their baby granddaughter. Breakfast Food has 14 recipes, including waffles, pancakes, biscuits, cinnamon rolls and eggs Benedict. Nice way to start the day. I liked how every step in the recipe bears a photo, so everyone's food will be beautiful too. Many of these recipes work well at other times of the day too. I liked how every step in the recipes are photographed, which helps the home chef a lot and reduces nerves. Lunchy Foods has 14 recipes, including soups, salads and hardboiled eggs. She presents some of the most popular foods. The Pizza section has 9 recipes that take us from dough to pizza sauce, to toppings for the finished product. Casseroles has 12 recipes detail how to make mac and cheese, homemade ricotta, homemade cream of mushroom, chicken stock and marinara.. The chapter on Beef , with 15 recipes, is making me happy with the presentation of perfect pit roast, meatloaf, chicken fried steak, sloppy Joe's, burgers prime rib, and other favorites that have become classics. given that Red is known for living on a ranch, her beef recipes are inspiring and delicious. I made the meatloaf and prime rib that morphed into French dip for lunch.. Chicken has 10 recipes with Red's spin on chicken pot pie, 2 different types of roast chicken, and chicken nuggets That will anchor some wonderful dinners. Pork has 6 recipes from a ranchers perspective. She makes her own barbecue sauce. There are two kinds of pulled pork, chops, and two kinds of pork tenderloin, including a snazzy Cajun tenderloin. Seafood has 6 recipes , from shrimp cocktail, lobster mac and cheese, fish, and scampi. The fresh alma dine is beautiful and makes an elegant presentation. Potatoes and sides rounds out the meals with 16 dies, from potatoes, to rolls, grits and cornbread, and finally, veggies. The picture of Red with her daughter, on her wedding day, is gorgeous! The book closes with Desserts and Drinks, with 18 recipes for cakes, pies, fudge, cookies, lemonade, martinis,,, A mojito, and margaritas. Her dog is pictured here and the cuteness is real. I am pleased with this book. There are so many delicious recipes and the pictures present every step in arriving at the finished product. I particularly liked the beef and chicken sections. Thank you to the author and publisher for including me in the ARC. All opinions are my own. ... show more

  • A true kitchen workhorse — easy, reliable, and delicious
Format: Hardcover
This is a fantastic, very usable cookbook. The Pioneer Woman Cooks: The Essential Recipes feels like Ree Drummond’s greatest hits, thoughtfully updated and made even more foolproof. The step-by-step photos are excellent and make the recipes incredibly easy to follow — it really does feel like she’s cooking alongside you. We tried two of the recipes and both were delicious and definitely going into our regular rotation. These are classic, family-friendly dishes, but with smart updates that make them better and more reliable. I also love how many recipes build on each other (pizza dough into pizza, homemade mayo into chicken or egg salad, stock into soups and casseroles), which makes the book especially practical. If you’re new to cooking, feeding a family, or just want to refresh your go-to classics, this is a great addition to your kitchen. ... show more

  • The Best cookbook ever!
Format: Hardcover
I love recipe books though some aren’t really great, just a recipe and nothing else. This recipe book is nothing like that, it’s great! Tons of pictures, lots of stories and explanations of everything that you do! This has to be the best recipe book I’ve ever bought! The recipes themselves are the best! Not a lot of really fancy foods that your family won’t eat or that you can’t find the ingredients for, just great down home food and lots of it. Over 119 great, really great, recipes! I would recommend this cookbook by Ree Drummond to everybody. Going to get it for all my granddaughters!! ... show more

  • Bravvo!
Format: Hardcover
This cookbook deserves to be on the shelf next to Ina Garten's cookbooks! Ree Drummond has done a fabulous job testing these recipes to perfection! If you follow the recipe, your dish is guaranteed to come out fantastic! EVERY SINGLE RECIPE! The recipes are food that everyone loves and craves, dishes that most of us grew up eating. The ingredients are accessible, and most of the items are affordable (minus the special occasion recipes like prime rib). The Pioneer Woman has come a long way! I think this cookbook will become a classic and should be in everyone's library. This would be a great gift for any home cook! Thank you, Ree Drummond, for putting together this delicious masterpiece. You've done Sofia proud :) ... show more

  • Beautiful Cookbook with Easy, Reliable Recipes
Format: Hardcover
I’ve always loved the recipes from Ree Drummond, so I was excited to get The Pioneer Woman Cooks―The Essential Recipes: 120 Greatest Hits, New Twists, and Perfected Classics. One of the things I appreciate most about her cooking style is that the recipes are easy to follow and don’t require a bunch of unusual or hard-to-find ingredients. This cookbook is also beautifully put together, with great photos and a large variety of recipes. I’ve already tried several of them, and they’ve all turned out really well. If you enjoy approachable, home-style cooking that actually works in a busy kitchen, this is a cookbook I would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Clever and inspiring updates
Format: Hardcover
What fun! I have to admit that this is the first time I’ve purchased a Ree Drummond cookbook. (Have seen her on the tube for years of course.) Anyway, I watched a few of her early promotional appearances for this book, and loved the idea of updated/tweaked recipes for oldie goldie family favorites. So I ordered in advanced and the book arrived yesterday. FYI/IMPORTANT: it is a heavy book. Last night I read through the first half, and just about every recipe for breakfast, lunch, pizza, pasta, etc. was intriguing. I was exhausted with the possibilities, so didn’t read the rest until this morning. The second half is full of recipes for heavier meat dinners than I usually do. (No family of hard-working ranchers waiting for me to feed them.) Still, many were enticing, and I plan try a few from each meat section. I’m in Florida and don’t turn on my oven unless there is no other option. So will have to see how I can adapt some of them to my air fryer, multifunction pot, or slow cooker. I can’t wait to try the salmon. The step by step photo tutorials are excellent and would be really helpful for a beginning cook. For a long-time kitchen queen, a few carefully chosen pictures that clarify unique techniques or ingredients might be sufficient. And make for a lighter book. But I am NOT complaining. Always better to have too many pictures than too few. I will update my review after I’ve actually tried some of the recipes. Meanwhile, it’s an absolutely delicious read. ... show more
