You get more than barbeque recipes. This book answers the what and how to's in barbequing. In addition to the marvelous barbeque recipes, you get regular food receipts, including some "old fashioned" recipes; I love the stories.   • If you only buy one BBQ book it should be this one
I have a lot of BBQ cookbooks but this one is my favorite. It has a great range of recipes from many different traditions, all delicious. A lot of BBQ books are geared either for real die-hard purists (WOOD ONLY! OFFSETS ONLY! SALT PEPPER GARLIC ONLY!) or else for people who don’t really care about learning to cook BBQ but just want some nice pictures. This book takes a middle path, not by compromising either side but by speaking to both audiences at once. It does have nice pictures, too, if you care about that. The writing is casual and clear, and he does a pretty good job of letting you know which parts of a recipe are essential and which can be modified for preference/necessity. What I like best though is how much warmth and personality comes through these pages. If you love BBQ, soul food, and American cooking in general, or want a great gift for someone who does, look no further. ... show more
