The Other Side of Wonderland is set in an altered Wonderland, which houses many of our most beloved characters from throughout the centuries. However, their stories may not be quite as we have been told. Wonder is the place of stories, and as such, must be connected to the place of Reality. Many of these stories have been altered as they are sent to Reality, and as a result, they mess with the connection between the two.This story, unaltered in the Wonder- Reality connection, follows two sisters, Alessia and Bianca. They live their lives overshadowed by the disappearance of their parents. As Alessia must begin her government-mandated apprenticeship, the two sisters are torn apart and begin to uncover a plot much larger than themselves.Alessia is now a part of the Queen’s Army, a collection of young women tasked with restoring the magical connection between Reality and Wonder. She learns new skills to aid in this, such as swordsmanship, physical prowess, and harnessing the magic of words, while also learning things that aren’t as helpful, such as the confusions of crushes and of young love. As she slowly distances herself from others, she uncovers the plot to disconnect the two worlds, which threatens life as she knows it.Bianca is left in her village, to stay with her friends and feel the first hits of this plot. She navigates her way through school, with the first teacher she has ever liked. However, it becomes unclear who is to be trusted as her teacher begins their own training, in secret. She herself struggles with the need for Reality and Wonder to be connected, and as a result, is blind to some of the problems around her. Read more
