I’ve always had good experiences with The North Face, with any item I’ve ordered from them and this jacket is no exception. Their gear is consistently well made, durable, and built to handle cold weather and this jacket is all those things. I ordered the men’s Large, and it fits well. I’m 5’11” and weigh 175 lbs and have broad shoulders. It’s a little roomy through the torso, but I actually find that more comfortable, especially if I’m wearing a sweatshirt, sweater, or other thick layer underneath. So the extra room allows for comfortable layering. This jacket is thick, soft, and very warm without feeling stiff or bulky. It looks bulky but doesn’t wear or feel as bulky as it looks. It’s really lightweight and comfortable to wear all day, in the car, at a desk, etc. Normally I find similar jackets to be too bulky and heavy or awkward to wear in the car or sitting down. With this jacket I can still move around, bend over, and use my arms comfortably and freely. It’s perfect for keeping me warm on super cold days and I’m planning on trying it out as my ski/snow jacket for when I go boarding. The brand is a nice enough flex and it does everything I need a snow jacket to do; although I’m not completely sure how it will hold up when it’s snowing or raining on the mountain. I haven’t tested out it’s waterproofness or resistance yet. The quality is excellent, of course. No flaws or stitching imperfections anywhere on the jacket and all the zippers work smoothly and flawlessly. If you’re looking for a warm, comfortable winter jacket from a brand with a proven reputation, this is an easy one to recommend.

I ordered The North Face Aconcagua Hooded Jacket in black in a men's size large. It has full-zip closure at the front and two zippered side pockets. The cuffs are lightly elasticized, and the bottom of the jacket can be cinched to lock in heat and keep cold air out. As far as puffy jackets go, this one has a fairly low profile. It keeps you warm without feeling overly heavy or bulky. The outer material has a non-PFC durable water-repellent finish. Notably, this jacket is made entirely of polyester (exclusive of trim), as confirmed by both the Amazon bullet points and the care tag on my jacket. Be aware that one of the listing images further down the page incorrectly claims the body is insulated with a 50/50 blend of 600-fill recycled waterfowl down and recycled polyester. This seems to be an error, but personally, the 100% polyester synthetic fill is a plus for me. It makes the jacket much easier to wash and care for without worrying about clumping down. The jacket seems to be well-made overall. All of the stitching is neatly done, including the embroidered logo at the upper left chest and back right shoulder. The front zipper works well, and there is a fabric guard at the upper part of the zipper to keep the metal pull from rubbing against your skin. My only complaint would be that while the main zipper pull is fine, the pocket zipper pulls seem kind of small and cheap to me. All things considered, I’m very happy with this jacket. It looks good, fits well, and keeps me warm without weighing me down.

I got this jacket for my nephew, but his brother—who's a winter hiking enthusiast—immediately tried to claim it because he already knew the reputation this jacket has. My nephew normally wears a size large, so that's what I ordered, and it fits him really well. There's a little extra room through the torso, but that's actually the style he prefers, plus it makes it easy to throw over hoodies when the weather gets colder. The zippers are smooth, the drawcord at the waist was a nice feature he wasn't expecting, and it's lightweight enough to get stuffed into a backpack as a "just in case" layer during the fall and spring. At the same time, it's warm enough to serve as his everyday winter jacket. The only thing he wished was that it had an inside pocket for his wallet/keys/phone. Not a deal breaker but a little disappointing. His brother—the winter hiker and would-be jacket thief—usually wears a small or medium, depending on how he wants things to fit. Even so, he thought the large would be perfect for hiking because it fits comfortably over his outer shell. That means he can add warmth during rest breaks or around camp without taking off his shell and losing body heat first. Having a warm, wind- and water-resistant layer that's easy to throw on for those short stops is incredibly practical. Between the two of them, I have a feeling another Aconcagua jacket may be in our future.

I live in the northern US and winters can get cold, so owning a good winter coat is ideal. When I got the chance to order this The North Face Aconcagua Hooded Jacket, I figured it’d be worth checking out. Right when I opened the package, I was happy with what I saw. You know the saying “black goes with everything”? Well I know I won’t be having a problem having this black jacket matching with my outfits. I ordered a size large and it fits true to size, plus there’s enough room for me to comfortably wear a sweatshirt underneath it. The hood is a nice size since I can easily wear my winter hat underneath it, but it’s sewn in place instead of being detachable (I prefer hoods that have a zipper at the neckline which gives them the ability to be detached). Is this the warmest winter jacket I own? Nope, but it’s still plenty warm for days that are single digit temperatures or just dipping into the negatives. But if the wind chill dips down into the double digits, I’ll stick to another jacket that I own that’s rated for those crazy low temps. Overall I am glad I got the chance to order and try this The North Face Aconcagua Hooded Jacket. While it’s not the warmest jacket I own, it’s still warm enough to wear during the milder winter days in my area.

This is another excellent product from The North Face. The black color has a clean, classic look that pairs well with just about anything and looks every bit as good in person as it does in the listing. The jacket is soft, comfortable, and has a true-to-size fit. It offers a nice midweight level of insulation that provides plenty of warmth for cool mornings, evenings, and typical winter days without feeling overly bulky. The attached hood adds extra protection when the weather turns windy or damp, and the overall fit is comfortable enough for both everyday wear and layering. Construction is exactly what I've come to expect from The North Face. The stitching is clean, the zipper operates smoothly, and the two large zippered hand pockets easily hold a phone, wallet, gloves, or other essentials. The wind-resistant fabric, recycled insulation, and water-repellent finish make it versatile enough for a variety of conditions while remaining lightweight and comfortable. This review is for the Women’s The North Face Aconcagua Hooded Jacket in Smoked Pearl, size Small. Living in the Rockies means a jacket gets used for a lot more than one season, and this one has already become an easy favorite. It packs into a travel bag without taking over, rides along in the truck, and is just as useful on a cool morning hike as it is around town. When the temperature really drops, it slips under a waterproof shell comfortably and adds a noticeable boost in warmth. The insulation is evenly distributed, the hood fits well, and the zippered pockets are exactly where I want them. The insulation does a great job of keeping me warm on cool and cold days without making the jacket feel overly bulky. It is lightweight enough for everyday wear and easy to layer over a sweatshirt or sweater when temperatures drop.
