  • beautiful

This is such a beautiful story that hit so close to home as my dad is declining in his health. He can’t ever mention things slowly slipping away, but I was able to fantasize about what it could be like. My only complaints is that it was so short and that it made me cry. Their journey to relive the seasons. I didn’t write the review right away and I am tearing up just thinking about it. It’s short and it’s worth it. 🎧🎧Sarah Naughton narrates this beautiful journey and she does it justice. ... show more

This was a sweet story, albeit predictable. The characters were well developed and the environment was nicely described. I wish it had a bit more punch, or twist, or something. But it was the short story version of comfort food and that’s just fine.

  • Short and sweet
Format: Kindle
The Last Father-Daughter Dance by Lisa Wingate is a short story you can read in a single sitting...an appetizer that delivers a surprising punch. Short, tasty, and somehow big on feeling without demanding hours of your time What it nails: - A father nearing the end of his days and an adult daughter who carries the usual parade of guilt and perfectionist vibes. Think oldest-daughter energy in high-definition. - Grief for the inevitable before it happens, and a sweetness at the end that lands a little too quickly...as if the book ends just as you’re leaning in for another bite. 4 Stars: a stellar palette cleanser that might spark a hunger for more. It feels like the host plated one perfect bite per guest. Satisfying, yes, but you’ll leave craving a second helping. ... show more

Lisa Wingate manages to unfold a desperate attempt to live all four seasons in a few short weeks for Kalista's dying father, all in under 60 pages. By concentrating on the father and daughter's relationship, she develops a portrait of love, honor, and respect.
