  • A story to make your heart smile
Format: Kindle
This is one of the most enjoyable Amazon first reads ever! It was a short story that was entertaining and heartwarming. It was a story that focused on valuing the important moments in our lives. It was a perfect ending to a Christmas day full of emotions and memories. As I finished the last page I had a smile on my face. ... show more

  • Enjoyable
Format: Kindle
This stand-alone is easy to follow but at times difficult to follow due to emotions evoked. No editing errors, gratuitous violence or drag-you-down drama. Entertaining storyline of a father and daughter reconnecting and spending time doing what brought them joy from years ago. Believable characters with distinct personalities and great dialogue. No desire to re-read this story. I am always interested in works by this author. ... show more

  • Lisa Wingate Never Disappoints
Format: Kindle
Lisa never disappoints in her storytelling! I just finished reading her newest novella and it’s the perfect short story read. Her story of the father/daughter love is heartwarming and I can relate all the feelings to a touching time I had in my own life with my dad. And I especially loved the backstory of their supportive community rallying together to create a cherished memory for their beloved “Coach.” If you’re looking for an uplifting and beautifully written story, I highly recommend treating yourself to Lisa’s latest work. ... show more

  • A Fantastic short story - which is hard to write
Format: Kindle
This is my first time reading Lisa Wingate, and it won’t be my last. The thing I liked most about this story - which is part of an Amazon Original Series - is that it easily cleared two of the main hurdles that short stories face: (1) ability to sufficiently develop characters and (2) avoid feeling super rushed. I’ll be honest - most short stories I read fail at least one or both of these tests. It’s not to say they’re not enjoyable or worth my time to read, but it’s very hard to achieve both of these things in less than 100 pages. The Last Father Daughter Dance, though, is an outlier. I felt like I was reading a normal length book - nothing felt underdeveloped and it didn’t seem like the plot was rushing along. The main character is this is 30ish woman who has run in two Olympics and has her sights set on a third. Life is moving quickly for her - she’s engaged, cofounder of a successful company and her running career is going almost perfectly. But, she is forced to slow things down when her mother calls her back to her home in the South due to her father’s ailing health. And it’s in the Atlanta airport where she runs into her childhood bestie, Calvin, who serves as an important supporting character in this story despite the two not having been in touch for over a decade. This story is as sweet as one would hope for with a father-daughter plot line, without being saccharine. And the sense of community and chosen family aspect develops as the story does. I could EASILY read an entire book that picks up where this one leaves off. Not because I have unanswered questions - the implied destination is crystal clear - but because I have already come to appreciate these characters and want to spend more time with them. ... show more

Here is what you can expect from each season: 💮SPRING - Dogwood Blossoms 🍇SUMMER - Blackberry preserves and pie 🎃AUTUMN - A Monster Mash 👰WINTER - The father-daughter dance opportunity I absolutely loved this short. • Great Story Line
Format: Kindle
As a father going through some health issues, I was drawn to the story. I was looking forward to a little more detailed ending. I would give it 4.5 stars. The short story had me laughing and crying as a dad who struggles with health issues and wondering if my father daughter dance will ever come. Only time will tell and close 2025 out with this short story read and cherished memories of the past and more importantly Looking forward to new memories and better health in 2026. • Short and Sweet

Also tough and real. This is a story of learning to appreciate what is important in life. Kalista is a runner with 2 Olympic medals and still hopes for a third medal, gold this time. She is taking time off from her business with her fiancé to be with Coach, her father, who is dying from heart failure. They return to the rural village where she grew up and Coach is a local legend from his coaching years at the high school there.
