This book grabbed me from the very beginning. It wasn't conventional, it was true and heartbreaking. We all chase a happily ever after, and so get it. This book was raw & emotional. The plot was intense and gripping the entire way through. The characters stole my attention right away and I was rooting for them. This book at depth in a way most books don't, raw and unfiltered. Moronova didnโt disappoint. From page one, this book pulls you deep into its gritty, twisted worldโand doesnโt let go. I really appreciated the disclaimer at the beginning, where the author clearly states this isnโt a self-help book and openly acknowledges the romanticization of mental illness and rehabilitation. That small note helped shift my mindset going in and should honestly be a standard in books tackling these themes. Weโre introduced to Wynn, our FMC, who wants to dieโand is dying, thanks to a terminal heart condition. She calls herself a villain and wears her nihilism like armor. Sheโs clever, dark, and painfully relatable, especially in how her depression strains her relationship with her brother James. As someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, her internal battle felt all too familiar. Then thereโs Liamโintroduced through a strange, offbeat interaction. Heโs cold, cryptic, and unsettling, with an odd sense of humor. He doesnโt always make sense, but thereโs something magnetic about him. He seems fascinated by Wynn, though his behavior is often distant, even cruel. Their chemistry is intense, confusing, and impossible to look away from. Harlow Sanctum, the facility where they meet, is just as much a character as anyone else. Its eerie atmosphere, open-door policy, and mysterious backstory add layers of unease and tension. Wynn and Liam ending up as roommates is a wild but strangely believable setup in this world. Wynnโs dark humor is a lifeline through the spiral. The way she jokes from a place of pain really hit homeโitโs a defense mechanism I know well. Liam, too, has layers. He flips between blunt honesty and aloof distance, but his emotional bluntness reads true to how some people living with mental illness navigate the worldโraw, and without room to sugarcoat things. Every side character brings something interesting to the table, but Lanston stood out most. Heโs a bright spot, the grounding force in the chaos. The found family that forms between him, Liam, and Wynn was one of my favorite parts of the book. It felt earned in a way that only trauma-forged bonds can. Thereโs an emotional push and pull between Wynn and Liam that feels like a knifeโs edge. They hurt each other, sometimes brutallyโphysically, emotionally, and mentallyโbut still manage to find pockets of tenderness. Itโs complicated, messy, and achingly real. The sadness they carry is heavy and constant, and I often found myself thinking, This could have been me. That longing to be โbetterโ or โnormalโ is heartbreakingly familiar. And letโs not forget: the spice? Intense. Some of the scenes between Wynn and Liam are scorching, raw, and not for the faint of heartโbut they fit the emotional weight behind their connection. The last 15% of the book is utterly heartbreaking. Truly, it almost hurt to finish. There is a happily ever afterโbut itโs hard-earned and laced with pain. That ending left me aching in the best way. What I loved most is that healing isnโt portrayed as a straight line. Itโs ugly, complicated, nonlinearโand sometimes, itโs just about finding the one person or place that gives you enough safety to even begin. Wynn and Liamโs story reflects that beautifully. And one name I will not forget: Crosby. That demon haunts this book. I loved every gut-wrenching, soul-aching second of The Fabric of Our Souls. And now, Iโm waiting (im)patiently for Lanstonโs storyโbecause that man deserves a love story of his own.

3 stars. A beautiful tragic book. I loved the characters and the heart ache. The found family was so well written and the love story was so good. This book truly broke my heart. I was not ready for the plot twist. I do think it would have been better if it was longer with more storyline details. The ending felt a bit rushed. Over all I loved it and definitely sobbed. Make sure to read your trigger warnings and be prepared for this book to rip your heart out.

Devastatingly Dark & Beautiful
ova: Review โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ๐ถ โFor the broken ones who are in need of something dark, morbid, and beautiful.โ If you havenโt read this book yet, or your trying to decide if you want to read it at all...move it up your list. Now. Always check your trigger warnings first, there are some really heavy topics that are romanticized throughout the book. Here are my thoughts. โInstinct tells me heโs dangerous-but I cannot pull away from him. Heโs gravity itself. I was caught in his orbit the moment I laid eyes on him at the hospital.โ Five stars isnโt enough. This book deserves so much more. โYouโve wilted enough for the world. Donโt you think?โ This is probably one of the best books I have ever read. I was immediately stuck on her style of writing. Everything was written beautifully, almost poetic. I wasnโt even all the way done with the book and went and bought not one, but two special signed editions with absolutely no regrets. Needless to say, I am absolutely obsessed. If there was one word to accurately describe this book it would be Beautiful. Devastatingly so. โThe fabric of our souls is thin and worn. We must be gentle and love tirelessly.โ The characters had my heart from the very beginning. Every single one of them. Usually there is always a quirk or flaw to a main character that irritates the crap out of me. Not here. Not this one. Liam, Lanston, Wynn. To d** for, almost literally. The way this book feels is almost like a dark, and I mean DARK, romance book and a thriller/suspense book had a baby. There are some twists and turns that I couldnโt see coming from a mile away. I wanted to know what was going to happen but I also felt where the story was going to take me and I didnโt want to think that far ahead. Coming to the end, what I thought was going to happen was so far from what actually happened. I think most of me being wrong was because my brain and my heart were constantly fighting between the inevitable. If you want to feel raw, unfiltered emotion this is the book you want to get your hands on. Iโm not an emotional reader and this had me feeling everything I could possibly feel. I was sad, in love, giddy, annoyed....devastated.. This book really gave everything it had to give. Unapologetically. โThe fabric of our souls is thin-weโve been wandering this world just to unite in this small corner of the universe.

This book will be written in the fabric of my soul forever
I wasnโt sure what to expect when I picked up this bookโฆ But what I got, was an intense, raw and unfiltered depiction of the struggle one goes through living with severe mental illness. I saw pieces of myself in every single character. This book had me reflecting on my own mental health struggles from page to page, it had me giggling and sometimes straight up laughingโฆ And it left me a sobbing mess. It got my heart beating hard and fast while I felt myself running in fear alongside this wonderful, hopeless and charming trio. The way Wynn was depicted and her internal monologues about how she perceived the world and her struggles with her mind was so incredibly relatable for someone like me, who has felt what she felt and struggled with these issues. While sharing snippets with my generally unimpressed roommate, he told me she sounded like an annoying teenager, and maybe heโs rightโฆ But I also know from personal experience how struggling with mental health issues from a young age changes how your mind develops. I donโt know if this was what Moronova had intentioned when writing this, or if this amazing author is just so familiar with these struggles that it is an unconscious detail that comes naturally when depicting this kind of serious struggle. In any case; Wynn was phenomenally written. I was unsure about Liam at first - sometimes itโs hard to imagine how a character who is written so perfectly, unapologetically careless can somehow be redeemed, but Moronova turned every word, reason and character development into magic. There was no room to question the development of Liam as a person, and I fell in love with each one of his thoughts, flaws and actions before I even realized it was happening. When we first meet Lanston, I immediately fell for his character. I wasnโt at all prepared for him to be such a huge part of this story, but he completed this little hodgepodge, mentally ill trio of detectives. He will forever be tattooed on my heart, and I will never be the same as I was before the heart-wrenching ending I could barely read through my un-ending stream of tears. If there was ever any book I would recommend to my friends who prefer realism over fantasy, it will forever and always be this one. Them Iโll swoop in with tissues and ice cream while I hold them in my arms and cry with them until we have no tears left. ยซThe Fabric of our Souls is thin and worn. It was not what I thought it was going to be when I wanted to read it. But I still loved the book. It is dark in away as it deals with mental health in a BIG way so check the warnings as it could be a lot for someone. I love the growth and the family these characters made.

This story will stay with me
This was my first book by K.M. Moronova and it absolutely wrecked me. As a survivor myself, I can honestly say this book captured the emotional rollercoaster so well. The pain, the healing, the complicated feelings that come with trauma t all felt very real. This is definitely a heavy read, but itโs written so beautifully. The story pulls you in and doesnโt let go. I was completely unprepared for the ending. It broke my heart, but at the same time it felt incredibly healing. This is one of those stories that stays with you long after you turn the last page.
